HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Haleigh Poutre's birth mother is expected to file a court motion seeking more of a say in her daughter's medical care.

Allison Avrett plans to appear in Holyoke Juvenile Court on Wednesday.

Haleigh, 12, has been hospitalized since police say her adoptive mother and stepfather severely beat her in September.

About a week after taking custody of the Westfield girl in September, the Department of Social Services sought permission to remove her from life support.

They do the same thing to devout Christian homeschoolers. They don't want their children indoctrinated by the state schools, therefore they are kooks and weirdos. They make the state uncomfortable. Same with folks like the Branch Davidians, but they paid with their lives. Some parents pay by losing their kids.

I've read about some of the tactics that Scientology uses, such as physical intimidation, expensive lawsuits, and extortion. They're more like an organized crime family than a religion. Imo after reading that body count link, someone needs to grow some stones and investigate them. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I sincerely hope that Katie Holmes and her baby come through this experience unscathed.
