I humbly ask that all the prayer warriors out there pray for me. I have had a sinus infection for over two months and it has taken it's toll on me both spiritually and emotionally. I now realize now (finally) that this attack is not physical in nature but spiritual and from the evil one. It has kept me from sleeping naturally and sapped all my energy and joy.
I am in a very good church and G_d placed the people before me that I needed and who prayed hard over me and helped me today.
Pray that G_d sheilds me from the lies of the evil one and that I may put on the full armor of G_d so that I may resist the attacks when they come.

Sinus infections are indeed painful. What medication have you been prescribed?
Well, I started with some sort of antibiotic that did no good, went to Levaquin for 10 days and it seemed to take the worst of it off, but I still could not sleep without medication.
After FINALLY convincing the doctor to do a sinus CAT scan I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, secondary maximillius (I think) sinusitis, and a nodule in my sinus cavity. I'm now back on Leavaquin for 30 days.

Meantime, have you thought of rinsing your sinuses with a salt solution and a Neti-pot. Google that.

Sinus infections are pretty awful. Stick with the meds and we'll add our prayers for healing.

My family will pray for you. My wife, daughter and I have been going through a similar bout of sinus problems which travelled down into the chest and little sleep. Wife and daughter ended up just shy of pneumonia. They took a 5 day course of Telithromycin for my wife and Zithromycin for daughter, supplemented by Mucinex D (to thin the mucus and act as a nasal decongestant), they are doing much better. I've been relying on Allegra D, Airborne and Oil of Oregano rather than an antibiotic. We are all much better and went to church today for the first time in three weeks.
Prayers sent for the quick riddance of this affliction and your complete recovery.

The first 10 days didn't do it, and the second 14 of a stronger one did. I feel soooooooo much better.

My husband had to have surgery to completely clear up a sinus infection. It nearly killed him in spite of many courses (8 or 10 over 2 years) antibiotics.
Thank you for pinging for me. Keep the prayers going. I want to use this opportunity to tell each of you how much I appreciate it.
I allowed the doctor to tell me that I had situational/emotional related anxiety and depression and put me on Lexapro(anti-depression), Xanax (anti-anxiety), and Ambien (sleep med) all psychiatric meds that did nothing but make the sleep anxiety even worse. But I KNEW that my head throbbed and pounded whenever I laid down and when I told the doctor, he increased my dosage of the Lexapro and Ambien and added Wellbutrin (another anti-deprepressant).
Instead of getting better, I progressively got worse until I had to come home from work because I literally could not function and was beginning to have suicidal thoughts. After the 5th trip to the doctor for the same symptoms (headaches, tenseness, no sleep) the doc ordered a CAT scan that revealed what I knew all along, that I am NOT a psychiatric case and that I have real physical problems and the symptoms are real and not imagined.
As a personal note, I want to ask everyone to constantly question the doctors' diagnosis and listen to your body so that you can avoid the personal hell I have been going through.
I am now de-toxing from the psych meds and Satan has been working hard on me to steal my joy for life and the LORD and any hope for a recovery. Tonight I am going to resist the temptation to take the Ambien even if I lose my job (just been there a few weeks). Please pray hard that I find the peace and joy and hope that the medications and the evil one has stolen from me and that I can get up and fonction tomorrow at work.

I cannot imagine having to live with the throbbing and the pain for that long. It has taken a very high toll on me in only 2 1/2 months. See post 25 above.
I was listening to a doctor call-in show about a week ago and he talked about how addictive the sleep meds and the anti-depressants can be -- that you really do have to go through withdrawal and all of the hardships and questioning that comes with it.

Each course of antibiotics would help for a while, and he was diligent about taking the complete course. Then, the same thing would return.
Surgery to create a "window" to completely drain the sinus and keep it drained was the only answer. I think it may have saved his life.
I am sincerely praying for you, I know how serious this can be. I wish your doctor had been a bit more diligent about the diagnosis...
I too found that inhaling the steam from eucalyptus oil helps a lot when you have laryngitis. When my daughter got laryngitis I gave her some eucalyptus oil and told her to be sure and not leave it where the grandkids could get a hold of it as it is poisonous. Well she thought on the back of the kitchen sink was safe enough but her 2 year old daughter climbed up there and opened it and took a big swig. My daughter called the poison control center and they said to get her to the hospital within 20 minutes or she would go into convulsions. They notified the hospital and they were ready to pump her stomach when we got there. She was such a little trooper. When they told her to swallow they would feed the tube down her throat and then pump charcoal in and back out. As it came out the smell of the eucalyptus oil permeated the whole ER room. I imagine any of those other oils are poison also, so keep them out of reach of the little ones as they smell good enough to drink.
blood of tyrants, my prayers are going out for you to get relief from your sinus infection. I know what those are like myself. I had a really bad one many, many years ago and finally a shot of penicillin did the trick.

You are likely having an adverse medication reaction. Please read the mail it's important. Been there also seen it. Anxiety? Yes but the doctor has the source wrong. The sinus infection is causing it. Vestibular damage from sinus infections/allergies can produce major anxiety problems. anti-depressants added to the mixture can compound the problem 10 fold. Wellbrutin is an SSRI anti-depressant.

There are A LOT of people in this part of western washington with the same symptoms - it's noticable because so many have been put on a 2nd antibiotic....
I pray you get better soon, and you find comfort in knowing the Lord is always by your side, holding you close during your pain, and that it would take an awful lot more than a sinus problem for you to weaken enough to let some slimey troll from hell latch on to you.
I was looking on google for a more natural type remedy for sinus infections and came across apple cider vinegar. You can both drink it straight or mix it with some water and/or inhale it in some very hot water with a towel over your head. The people that wrote in to one site to say that they had tried it said it worked--some people said it worked within minutes. I don't see how it can hurt you and it might help. Best wishes and prayers that this infection will go away soon.

I know what you're going through. Probably best to stay away from the Xanax.
I've noticed a relationship between sinus problems, viral infections and anxiety attacks. The physical imbalance manifests as emotional problems.
Just let your body make the needed adjustments. Trust that God has created a body that knows how to heal. Trust that He will bring you through the worst night. Listen to soothing music, such as gentle harp melodies.

Actually in his case and mine as well Xanax is likely the safest drug to take. I'll explain why. First of all toss mental health on this and go instead to Vestibular {Inner Ear } related research. Why? Because when a person has a sinus infection or chronic sinus allergies they stand a risk of doing significant Vestibular Damage.
One of the most common and overlook sources of Anxiety Disorders is Vestibular related or actually a secondary condition and the Vestibular Disorder the primary. Severe Tinnitus, Meneries Disease, chronic sinus allergies, or even a single bad sinus infection can cause anxiety.
IF this is indeed the cause then SSRI antidepressants are not a good idea. The reason is persons with Vestibular damage are prone to Serotonin Syndrome from SSRI's because the origin is not phobic in nature or actually traumatic as many cases of anxiety are but rather Neurological in origin. The sensory system is already overtaxed. Overtaxing it more = more anxiety attacks. Xanax dulls the sensory system. Xanax also is one of the counter agent drugs to treat Serotonin Syndrome which is why I was trying to get him to answer me.
I am a Vestibular Patient with a long sinus allergy history myself. I went through this myself. I also saw my wife who has severe sensory damage go into Serotonin Syndrome. It is a very serious condition and you don't have much time to do something about it. I have had General Anxiety Disorder for 12 years now. I have taken Xanax for most of that time. My wife has severe sensory damage and has taken Xanax for over 20 years. When they tried SSRI's on her she went into Serotonin Syndrome. I have almost myself gone there.
The biggest problem with Xanax is prescribing ignorance. Many doctors will write 1-2mg twice a day. Here's the problem though. It last about 6 hours 8 tops. It yo-yo's your chemistry that way. OK now take just point .5mg of Xanax every 6 hours instead. That equals just 1 of the 2mg pills divided over 24 hours and a low but needed consistent in bloodstream dosage. Many doctors and patients don't understand the drug. If I didn't have Xanax I would be an Agoraphobic not by fear but simply not being able to tolorate sensory bombardments that trigger the anxiety. Hasn't anyone ever heard of an Inner Ear infection? They go hand in hand with sinus infections and are hard to detect. They can also de permenant damage.
I not knocking your advice in the least this is from my own experience and what I had to learn the hard way.
Prayers for you .. it can be tough, but He is tougher. I suffered from bad sinus years ago. I worked for a nutritionist, and he gave me a natural, food-based remedy that worked. FReepmail me if you're interested in trying that.
