Al Qaeda Will Nuke US in Late September (According To A Pakistani Journalist)

Al Qaeda Will Nuke US in Late September (update)

A Pakistani journalist says that his sources in al Qaeda and the Taliban are claiming that nuclear material has already been smuggled across the Mexican border into the U.S. and that an operation bigger than 9/11 will be carried out during Ramadan--which begins later this month.

Hamid Mir, who is the only journalist ever to interview both Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri, claims that he learned this information on a recent trip to Afghanistan last month.

So, the guy does have a track record, but considering that he got the information from al Qaeda and the Taliban....well, these guys aren't exactly reliable sources. So, yeah the headline is alarmist, but blame my editor and not me.

A man called Adnan Al-Shukri Jumaa (Juma, Jumah) is presently in the U.S. and has been assigned the task of detonating the nuclear material. The report does not say whether an actual nuclear bomb was smuggled in or only material to be used for a 'dirty bomb'.

Reports about Jumaa have been circulating for years. His real name is Adnan G. El Shukrijumah and he is wanted by the FBI. Shukrijumah has long been rumored to be inside the U.S. awaiting orders to detonate a dirty bomb.

Last month, rumors began circulating that Shukrijumah had been seen in Honduras.

ADNKI:

The Pakistani journalist also gave a brief background on Adnan Jumaa. Born in Saudi Arabia, he moved to the US where he met a group of a Al-Qaeda members in the Al-Farouq mosque in New York in 2000. He then traveled to an Arab state and from there to Pakistan then Afghanistan. He left there two years ago and since then has smuggled nuclear material from Mexico to the US. Jumaa has earned the nickname "Al-Qaeda nuclear whizz" and is tagged to play the same role in a future attack as Mohammed Atta did in the 9/11 attacks.

In March 2003 the FBI announced that it was seeking a link between Adnan and others accused of terroris, saying Adnan Jumaa "or maybe one of his several nicknames" had appeared in intelligence information gathered after the arrest of Khalid Sheik Mohammad.

Western media had reported in earlier times that Adnan Jumaa was a Saudi pilot, but the Saudi Ministry of Interior security spokesman lieutanent Mansour Al-Turki said in a statement to Al-Watan newspaper two months ago that Adnan Jumaa is not a Saudi citizen, he was living in the kingdom until he was eleven years old and left along with his parents, who are not Saudis, twenty years ago. In addition, Mir also claims that 300 suicide bombers are now in Kabul and will begin attacking during Ramadan.

Oh, he also says that Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar just met to plan the attacks.

File under: Alarmist news from unreliable sources, but alarming enough to keep an eye out.

Yea Riiiight just like they said that there were bombs already waiting to be detonated on the New York City Subways and they started those backpack and bag searches. I don't believe half of what these Islamic fear mongers say.

But we don't DO military operations during Ramadan out of respect for the religion of peace... sarc

I'll believe something like this is up when our moderate American muslims start trekking out of Detroit and other the cities and heading for the foothills

How many times have they said stupid stuff like this - I remember the briefcase nukes that were supposedly going to be detonated a long time ago. These people play on the fears of the American public.

You won't see "domestic" muslims evacuating. They won't get the word.

I don't think you will see a "dirty" bomb either. Too hard to transport. Anybody that spends a lot of time around one, without a lot of heavy shielding, will wind up dead in a short time. Radiation detectors at border crossings would make transportation into the US very difficult.

A real, nuclear device? Highly doubtful. Once again, radiation detectors will do their job. Other than Iran, where would AQ obtain a real device?

Is it time we start searching Mosques, and Churches and Synagogues for that matter. Treat them all equally and see what shakes out.

So your the type that believes it's a good idea to shake down 80 yr old grandmothers with walkers instead of focusing on the actual demographics of terrorists, huh? How many Christian and Jewish terrorists have attacked the US?

Huh? Drug dealers have tunnels under the U.S./ Mexico border that bring tons of drugs and thousands of illegals here every year. Getting the nuke would be the problem, getting it in here would not.

I remember that Ramadan was the time that Slammie Wackos in Algeria went into overdrive to slit the throats of 100s of civilians(mostly muslims) in the mid 90s.

Well, if you say so. I think a nuclear device is a little heavier and harder to handle than a small bale of ganja.

Disaffected Communist generals or officers from the Eastern Block Countries who wanted money after the fall of the USSR.

I think these devices need maintenance to maintain their operational status. You need skilled, trained technicians for that. I think this is beyond AQ.

If there is such an invention as a suitcase nuke it would be simple to transport. The missile to carry the nuke seems to be the bulk of the size. Get rid of the missile and a nuke could probably be manageable.

If a coyote or drug dealer can move 500lbs of pot or 25 human beings and get them or it to their destination in LA or Phoenix or San Antonio, it would seem logical that a paid off drug dealer could shepherd some Muslims with a nuke into LA.

Perhaps by continuing the rumors we will become complacent..**then** they'll nuke us, when we least expect it.

I pray not. Remain vigilant.

So you truly believe all the stocks of fissile material unguarded in Ukraine or other FSU republics have been intercepted as they have been smuggled through central Asia and Europe? That the Russian mafia (Chechens etc) have no access to starving Russian soldiers and scientists who would steal and deliver for millions in cash or Afghan heroin from al Qaeda? Or that drug cartels wouldn't be willing to get a piece of this smuggling operation? Or that individuals in Pakistani, Chinese or Russian intelligence- hostile to the USA- wouldn't assist?

I believe several years ago, Soviet Georgian police discovered some stolen radioactive stuff dumped in the woods, probably the human mules didn't get paid or were so sick they dropped their radioactive material and crawled off to die. Some of the police who found it got very sick. Radioactive material has also been intercepted being smuggled through Turkey and in eastern Europe...this is just the open source news. Plenty of sources report the Russian military sold some Cold War tactical nucs warheads/devices to the islamists- the Russian military remembers that the US helped the islamists slaughter them in Afghanistan.
Payback would be sweet.

Turns out the UN discovered that IAEA- controlled barrels of Nigerien yellowcake that libs think Iraq wasn't interested in buying was being transported hundreds of miles to warehouses in Benin by unguarded truck convoys stopping in unguarded little African villages along the route - there are plenty of places in the world it could have been transported by ship out of Cotonou over the past decade or more. Like, we had real good intelligence into the advanced state of Libya's nuc development program before Qadaffi supposedly turned his materiels in ... right? And where did North Korea get help with its nucs? North Korean troops guarding Congolese uranium mines- just a friendly gesture.

Proliferation seems to have just gotten out of hand, particularly with the USA neglect, head-in-sand attitude, and intelligence cutbacks from late 70's into 2001.

Who knows what Homeland Security really knows.
Several years ago, Tom Ridge didn't advise duct taping windows to keep out the cold of winter.

Yep the smugglers might die if they carry unshielded nasty stuff, but how cheap are Mexicans to hire, and aren't dead smugglers likely to tell no tales?

But American muslims- some of them - will know what's up. American mosques are the headquarters for the recruiting and planning cells in the USA. They were before 9-11 and they are now. If/When the next big one is ready to blow, "someone" in the American muslim community will act to save their friends and family before it happens. Count on it.

And frankly, even if the operation fizzles or is scientifically and militarily ineffectual, the US and world media is so ignorant about NUCs - it will/would cause a mass panic if any irradiated material is used to dust our cities or is contained in dirty bombs exploded from atop buildings etc.

Let us just hope the Lord's Hand continues to help good people to shield America - what law enforcement might call "luck" The bad guys only have to get lucky once. We have to be lucky all the time.

NOPE!!Ramadan is the month of fasting for Slammies. What you are referring to is their annual Haj pilgrimage.Haj is about 4 to 4 1/2 months after Ramadan. So you can watch your stampede in approx the second week of January!!!

How many Christian and Jewish terrorists have attacked the US?

That's my point. There aren't any. But you tell me what the chances are that we'll be able to search only mosques without the ACLU, Liberals and CAIR not pitching a holy fit, suing everything in site, and blocking us from ever being allowed to do so.

I'm all for profiling, but in this climate, with the liberals and political correctness gone friggin' wild, it ain't gonna fly if we only pick on mosques. Wake up to what we are up against. You have to fight within the rules, or you won't even be allowed in the game.
