Wal-Mart Contributes 5% Of Online Sales To Homosexual Group
AFA action site ^

Posted on 11/13/2006 8:05:07 AM PST by Gopher Broke

In a show of support to help homosexuals legalize same-sex marriage, Wal-Mart has agreed to automatically donate 5% of online sales directly to the Washington DC Community Center for Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender People. The cash donation will come from ALL online purchases made at Wal-Mart through the homosexual group's Web site. This move follows Wal-Mart's joining the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and agreeing to give generous financial help to that group.

Every purchase made online for books, music, videos, clothing and accessories, children's clothing and toys, and electronics at the site will automatically send 5% of the sales to the homosexual group.

With this agreement, Wal-Mart made clear their support for the homosexual movement was a total commitment to the cause.

Many observers feel it would have been a wise business decision for Wal-Mart to remain neutral in the cultural battle over homosexual marriage. But this was an ideological decision by Wal-Mart, not a business decision. Wal-Mart decided to give the promotion of homosexual marriage their full support.

We've been through this before. The AFA are being a bunch of idiots because this is just an affiliate plan. The only way you contribute to the gays is by going through their website first.

On the other hand, Wal-mark employees are now suppose to say "Merry Christmas" this year and Best Buys are doing the "Happy Holidays."

It's the truth. Anyone can set this up for their group.

Do you know how many sales WalMart made through this group's website prior to the AFA having a hissy? ONE SALE. One sale for $41.48.

I'm sure that the web site appreciates the free advertising the AFA has given them. Idiots.

From Snopes

Less than careful readers might miss that the 5% donation applies only to sales made through the Metro DC GLBT web site — that is, purchases made at Wal-Mart stores or through Wal-Mart.com are not part of the "5% donation" scheme.

What does it mean by "ALL online purchases made at Wal-Mart through the homosexual group's Web site"? How can you buy at Walmart through another website?

Yes, I'm a pro-homo troll.

Actually, I'm an anti-idiot troll. The AFA is being stupid here.

Can someone PLEASE invent an affliction for normal, straight, fair-skinned males so that I can get protected status, too?

Not this s*** again.

This is an exact replay of some Amazon.com complaint from a few years ago... Wal-mart has an "affiliates" program that pays a referral commission to the referring web site. FR could probably set up a similar deal, and get 5% of sales referred via FR.

Appy, I dont doubt this but Walmart has a responsibility to limit who they give $$ to.... can a pedophile group like NAMBLA set up something similar? What about neo-nazi groups?

Exactly. People get all bent out of shape because they don't bother investigating what's actually going on. The AFA certainly didn't. (Well, actually, they probably did, but are just looking for something to create some noise.)

Have your own web site and join Walmart, Amazon, Barnes and Noble's affiliate programs. You or the organization gets a cut of orders linked through your site.

We have given this site more publicity than they could ever dream of.

The AFA are twisting the facts

This is a referral incentive with the group which I'm sure walmart has with other groups and organizations as well.

It's simply a case of, 'You send business my way and I'll throw you a bone'.
