NOSTRADAMUS AND THE MABUS COMET
Hogue Prophecy ^ | Feb 2, 2007 | John Hogue

Friends, In all my thirty years of prophecy research I have never seen a stellar portent so closely match Nostradamus' prophecy dating the death of a potential candidate for his "Third Antichrist" such as the death of Saddam followed by the brilliant appearance of Comet McNaught. Because of these events we may at last understand why Nostradamus gave two timelines for a Third World War.

Friends, "Disaster" is a word derived from the Old French desastre meaning "from an ill-favored star." It used to describe "bearded stars" or comets as portends heralding the death of great leaders and kings, such as Julius Caesar, the fall of empires--such as the great comet of 1812 that signified to many Napoleon's "disastrous" decision to invade Russia later that year. The great 16th-century prophet Nostradamus believed the appearance of comets were stellar torches shining prescient light upon coming great changes in history. In particular, he believed a comet could portend the fall of a tyrant whose death would mark or even could trigger in some way the next world war.

A comet sighting in our times is key to identifying the third of three antichrists foreseen by the prophet. In each case, Nostradamus provided clues that reverberated in similar phrases in a number of quatrains scattered throughout his book of prophecies for the fleet sooth-sleuth-sayer to decant for debate and discussion. He introduced the first antichrist in bold letters in the opening quatrain poem of Century (volume) 8 of his book of prophecy as PAUNAYLORON. Le Peletier, chief among the 19th century's finest Nostradamus scholars, decoded in hindsight this anagram to mean Napaulon Roy (King Napoleon). In the 1920s, the German Nostradamian, Von Loog, identified with clever foresight the second antichrist--Hister--as none other than Adolf "Hitler." Though Napoleon's anagram only came up once, hints in the same prophecy identify character and life details unique to him as a leader of France. Nostradamus is more generous with his mention of "Hister." This code name for the second antichrist appears five times in the prophecies with numerous hints that it is Adolf Hitler. For instance, "Hister" is the ancient name for the River Danube. Hitler grew up in Linz, Austria, "on" the Danube.

Nostradamus' third antichrist called "Mabus" is only mentioned once in the prophecies by code name in (Century) 2 Quatrain 62. An echo of that prophecy elaborating further details is indexed under 8 Q77. Some believes it qualifies Mabus as "the Third Antichrist." Whether Mabus is the Third Antichrist or his victim is a subject of hot debate among Nostradamians. In either case, both Mabus as Third Antichrist or as separate entities, do not see the disastrous end of the new world war. They are killed at the beginning.

Nostradamus predicts the war of the Third Antichrist will be the longest of the three. Napoleon's war, as Nostradamus accurately predicted in 7 Q13, lasted 14 years (1799--1814), followed by another famous time prediction in 10 Q90 for Napoleon's escape from exile on Elba in 1815 to lead France for a hundred days until his final defeat at Waterloo. Nostradamus did not tag a specific length to Hitler's war but he left powerful clues accurately framing the war in time. In his Epistle prophecies he earmarked the years "(19)37", "(19)41" and "(19)45" as the beginning, middle and end of the conflict. He was only slightly off on the beginning year--it was 1939--but 1941 did see the turning of the tide with the Second Antichrist's disastrous invasion of Russia, started on the same day of the 129 year anniversary of the First Antichrist's invasion, no less. Hitler's war did end in 1945.

Nostradamus gives two predictions for the length of the war of the Third Antichrist. In a passage written in 1558 about the three Antichrists in his Epistle to Henry II, he said the following:

"Finally the third [Antichrist] will cause an inundation of human blood, and one will not find Mars [the God of War] fasting for a long time… After that, the Antichrist will be the infernal prince again for the (third and) last time. All the Kingdoms of Christianity, and even those of the infidels [Muslims], will tremble for the space of twenty-five years…"

He wrote the Epistle dedicating a serialization of the final three Centuries (volumes 8, 9 and 10) of his book of prophecies to the king of France after setting down with his pen the following well-known prophecy giving what appears to be a longer timeline:

The Third Antichrist very soon annihilated, Twenty-seven years his bloody war will last…

8 Q77

The play of the two timelines, as we will soon see, could be another clue to exactly who Nostradamus intended to be "Mabus." He is either the Third Antichrist himself, or a key figure killed by the Third Antichrist. His death marks the beginning of the Third Antichrist's war.

Here is the complete Mabus prophecy in original French and translated into English:

Mabus puis tost alors mourra, viendra, De gens & bestes vne horrible defaite: Puis tout à coup la vengeance on verra, Cent, main, soif, faim, quand courra la comete.

Mabus will soon die, then will come, A horrible undoing of people and animals, At once one will see vengeance, One hundred hands [powers], thirst, famine, when the comet will pass.

2 Q62

Mabus soon dies when a comet will pass. What then follows is expressed in a Renaissance French euphemism: horrible defaite--in other words, the most terrible undoing imaginable, a destruction and mass killing that spares neither animals or people. Already the war in Iraq and rumors of war planned by the US and Israel against Iran has led to leaks suggesting that both have considered factoring in weapons of mass destruction powerful enough to bore into subterranean Iranian nuclear facilities. Israeli and US sources have already drawn up plans for hypothetical air strikes on Iranian nuclear installations with tactical nuclear weapons. Iran in turn has threatened to use any weapons it possesses in a counterstrike including regional ballistic missiles possibly tipped with chemical or biological weapons falling from the sky on US bases in Iraq, the Gulf States and Israeli cities.

A "horrible undoing of people and animals" sounds ever more like something that could happen in the next war in the Middle East, and perhaps soon, because Mabus may have quickly died, falling through a trap door on a long rope that snapped his neck, when a comet did pass, just a few weeks later.

Nostradamus could have framed the emergence, the death of Mabus and the war of the Third Antichrist with a comet sighting. The challenge left to prophecy scholars is to accurately anticipate which comet Nostradamus intended. Over the years I have received hundreds of letters asking if this comet or that appearing around the time of what was considered prophetically linked current events was the "Mabus comet." I have replied regularly that nothing short of a massive and bright comet easily viewed by the naked eye would suffice, because Nostradamus, without means of a telescope only factored truly large and easily seen comets into his prophecies. A potential "advent" dating for the Third Antichrist appears in 10 Q72. It says that "1999 and September month" (a code for 9-11-1 September month) will see a "great king of terror" descend from the skies. The timeframe therefore reduces the "Mabus" comet candidates to three: Comet Hyakutake in 1996, Hale-Bopp in 1997 and the brightest and most dramatic of them all, the sudden flare up of Comet McNaught in mid-January 2007.

Many of you already know that for 20 years in counting I have declared Saddam Hussein to be my personal choice as the man who would be Nostradamus' Mabus. In brief, for the uninitiated, the reason being that the law of anagram allows one to reverse in lower case the name "mabus" into "subam." You can reverse again any letters, such as getting "d" out of "b" and get "sudam." Phonetics play in the rules. If a similar vowel can be derived, for instance changing "u" to the long, Arabic "a"--sounding like "uhh" or "awh"= (Suh'dam, Sawh'dam) you get "Sadam." In anagramming, you can add or subtract redundant letters. In this case, add a "d" and you get: "Saddam."

Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging at dawn of 30 December (Iraqi Time) 2006. Roughly a week later, Comet McNaught passing close to the sun, suddenly and unexpectedly began bursting into a brightness that by the middle of January 2007 competed with the sunset's afterglow. The comet core and tail rivaled the brightness of the planet Venus. I bear personal witness to its brightness, as I had the opportunity to see it, on 11 January, on a rare clear winter evening in the Pacific Northwest floating above a stand of pine trees. It rivaled the afterglow of sunset behind my house. A few days later it appeared over evening skies of the Southern Hemisphere stretching an arched, hoary rooster comet tail millions of miles into space that drew a line in the sky of comet gas and dust reminiscent of a ghostly ribbon of aurora lights.

The synchronicity of Saddam's death and the emerging comet engendered an avalanche of letters from all over the world asking if this comet augured Saddam Hussein as "Mabus." Moreover, did his death and the comet's transit mean we were about the endure a widening war in the Middle East, if not the onset of the 25 or 27 year conflict of the Third Antichrist in just a few short days or months.

I can say this. Never in over three decades of prophecy watching have I seen a better heavenly portend match the death of a key figure--a prime candidate for the Third Antichrist--as catalyst for the next world war.

At the time of this writing, this comet stands as the best candidate. It would take a stellar visitation of singularly rare and vast proportions to better it. I do not rule that out. Still, Comet McNaught captures the subtleties of Nostradamus' language like no other before it. Consider the last phrase of the prophecy: "when the comet will pass"--or, "will run." The French word courra also means, "will run quickly." McNaught did just that. Although the Australian astronomer Robert McNaught had discovered it in August 2006, no one at that time expected it would blossom from a modest smudge only seen by telescope and binoculars to a sudden brilliance in our skies around dawn or sunset of the new year when it passed close around the Sun. Indeed, from 12 to 16 January 2007, a little more than two weeks after the death of Saddam Hussein, it flared bright enough to be seen in broad daylight as the third brightest object in the skies behind only the Sun and the Moon. Those who could block out the sun and gaze about a fist's width on an outstretched arm to the left of the sun's position could see it without binoculars.

Comet McNaught's passing was quick and dramatic. It flared to full magnitude while running around the sun within the orbit of Mercury in less than a fortnight. It became three times brighter than the next candidate for the Mabus Comet, Hale-Bopp in 1997. It is only bested by the 20th century's most luminous comet, Ikeya-Seki, appearing 42 years ago in 1965.

It is highly likely that Saddam is Nostradamus' Mabus and McNaught is the comet running at the end of the Mabus prophecy.

The death of Saddam Hussein followed by the days of the comet may unravel a mystery. Why did Nostradamus give two time lines for the war of his third and final antichrist. Thanks to your letters it has come to my attention that if you count the years Saddam Hussein became dictator of Iraq in 1979 to the year of his death (the end of 2006) you get 27 years--the same count of years in 8 Q77's prophecy about the Third Antichrist:

The Third Antichrist very soon annihilated, Twenty-seven years his bloody war will last. The heretics (are) dead, captives exiled, Blood-soaked human bodies, and a reddened, icy hail covering the earth.

8 Q77

Perhaps now we can at least theorize why Nostradamus talked about a war lasting 27 years in this prophecy and later in the Epistle wrote about a 25-year war. They could be subsequent events. One follows the other.

In the above prophecy, he may be describing Saddam Hussein's 27-year rule as a war. Not an unfair assessment. Saddam Hussein as vice president of Iraq took power in a bloodless coup 16 July 1979. A little over one year and two months later, he launched a war with Iran that lasted from 22 September 1980 to August 1988. Barely a respite passed when exactly two short years later he invaded Kuwait in August 1990. That led to the military buildup of a US-Coalition alliance and the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait in early 1991. Forthwith, Saddam's surviving Republican Guard divisions suppressed a large uprising inside his borders of ethnic Iraqi Kurds and Shia in 1991 costing the lives of at least 350,000 Iraqis. Isolated by sanctions, a no-fly zone, Saddam continued to play cat and mouse games with weapons inspectors under the jet and missile shadows of coalition air forces waging a low grade air war up to the US invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Saddam fell from power by May 2003, just when the current and destabilizing Iraqi insurrection began. He groveled in a spider hole until caught by US forces in December 2003 and "very soon" was "annihilated" by hanging three years later to the month in 2006--the year the escalating insurrection turned into a civil war poised to break up what only kings and dictators could sustain--a nation called "Iraq."

Twenty-four violent years of dictatorship plus three more years as prisoner during an insurrection and civil war that has effectively put a wrecking ball to his statues, the political and military institutions of his police state equals Saddam's 27-year war. The heretics "are" dead, if you count Saddam and his henchmen along with al-Qaeda operatives in Iraq, like Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on the list. Many more Iraqi Baathists and Saddam sympathizers are "captives"--some internally "exiled" at Abu Ghraib prison and other Iraqi Gulags. The final line of the above prophecy could describe a vision of thousands of Iranian soldiers gassed during phases of Saddam's 27 year war with his neighbors, or the Kurdish corpses of civilians stained red and spotty white, sprayed by chemical weapons Saddam used to gas 5,000 civilians in the town of Halabja in 1988.

Saddam's 27-year war may be a precursor to the beginning of a world war of the Third Antichrist, lasting another 25 years.

Nostradamus in the Epistle warns of much worse to come in the new war. The wording may pose that Mabus is not an antichrist, but a victim of such:

"After that the Antichrist will be the infernal prince again for the [third and] last time. All the Kingdoms of Christianity, and even those of the infidels [Muslims], will tremble for the space of twenty-five years… so many evils shall be committed by the means of, Satan, the infernal Prince, that almost the entire world will be found undone and desolate."

I predict that in the coming nine months, perhaps even much sooner, we will know for sure if Comet McNaught should be renamed Comet Mabus. Events soon to be set in motion will most likely confirm this desastre portend from the stars as the sign of death for the Third Antichrist and the onset of a Third World War.

Much more will be revealed to you about the true nature of the Antichrist and his war in my forthcoming eBook: "Nostradamus: The Mabus Code." If events do not overwhelm my workload--such as the coming attack on Iran--I may have Mabus Code ready for you to read by the end of February.

I think this guy is a loon.

I think Nostradamus was a loon.

I think people who believe in Nostradamus are loons.

I think there are way too many loons.

Napoleon was an aggressive dictator, and he could play rough at times -- but as an Antichrist?

I can't see it. There were two other emperors (would be Caesars) and numerous crowned heads of state in Europe at the time who were just as brutal.

I disagree with your post. I think the word "loser" would fit better than "loon".

I trust Scripture and Catholic saints prophecy more than Nostradamus, who derived some of his thoughts from astrology. He may have stumbled on bits of things to come, or even ripped off some writings of the saints, but his interpretators today can only show a string of "maybe this...or maybe that" and nothing definite.

Meanwhile, Daniel is very clear - Persia is identified as the Ram that goes stomping about causing much harm to Christians "to the north, the south and the meridian".

Depends on what you believe ... Some think that A Comet or Asteroid will return and can/could cause great destruction ... I have not seen Nostradamus mention anything about 2012, but if you listen to what Mother Shipton had to say ... well, you decide. "For those who live the century through In fear and trembling this shall do. Flee to the mountains and the dens To bog and forest and wild fens. For storms will rage and oceans roar When Gabriel stands on sea and shore And as he blows his wondrous horn Old worlds die and new be born. A fiery dragon will cross the sky Six times before this earth shall die Mankind will tremble and frightened be for the sixth heralds in this prophecy. For seven days and seven nights Man will watch this awesome sight. The tides will rise beyond their ken To bite away the shores and then The mountains will begin to roar And earthquakes split the plain to shore. And flooding waters, rushing in Will flood the lands with such a din That mankind cowers in muddy fen And snarls about his fellow men. He bares his teeth and fights and kills And secrets food in secret hills And ugly in his fear, he lies To kill marauders, thieves and spies. Man flees in terror from the floods And kills, and rapes and lies in blood And spilling blood by mankinds hands Will stain and bitter many lands And when the dragon's tail is gone, Man forgets, and smiles, and carries on To apply himself - too late, too late For mankind has earned deserved fate. His masked smile - his false grandeur, Will serve the Gods their anger stir. And they will send the Dragon back To light the sky - his tail will crack Upon the earth and rend the earth And man shall flee, King, Lord, and serf. But slowly they are routed out To seek diminishing water spout And men will die of thirst before The oceans rise to mount the shore. And lands will crack and rend anew You think it strange. It will come true. And in some far off distant land Some men - oh such a tiny band Will have to leave their solid mount And span the earth, those few to count, Who survives this (unreadable) and then Begin the human race again. But not on land already there But on ocean beds, stark, dry and bare Not every soul on Earth will die As the Dragons tail goes sweeping by. Not every land on earth will sink But these will wallow in stench and stink Of rotting bodies of beast and man Of vegetation crisped on land. But the land that rises from the sea Will be dry and clean and soft and free Of mankinds dirt and therefore be The source of man's new dynasty. And those that live will ever fear The dragons tail for many year But time erases memory You think it strange. But it will be. And before the race is built anew A silver serpent comes to view And spew out men of like unknown To mingle with the earth now grown Cold from its heat and these men can Enlighten the minds of future man. To intermingle and show them how To live and love and thus endow The children with the second sight. A natural thing so that they might Grow graceful, humble and when they do The Golden Age will start anew. The dragon's tail is but a sign For mankind's fall and man's decline. And before this prophecy is done I shall be burned at the stake, at one My body singed and my soul set free You think I utter blasphemy You're wrong. These things have come to me This prophecy will come to be.

One of Nostradamus' most important predictions IMO was his prediction of the use of paragraphs.

Why it wasn't completely fulfilled I have no idea...

Great post. I had forgotten about the Nostradamus "Mabus must die" prophecy. And I remember now that people who follow this have long thought Saddam was Mabus. That's interesting.

Mabus will soon die, then will come, A horrible undoing of people and animals, At once one will see vengeance, One hundred hands [powers], thirst, famine, when the comet will pass.

He's kind of vague though on whether he thinks the Colts or the Bears will win this weekend.

9. The Glory of the Olive.

The Order of St. Benedict has said this Pope will come from their order. It is interesting that Jesus gave his apocalyptic prophecy about the end of time from the Mount of Olives. This Pope will reign during the beginning of the tribulation Jesus spoke of. The 111th prophesy is "Gloria Olivae" (The Glory of the Olive).

The Order of Saint Benedict has claimed that this pope will come from their ranks. Saint Benedict himself prophesied that before the end of the world his Order, known also as the Olivetans, will triumphantly lead the Catholic Church in its fight against evil.
