Religion of Peace Alert! Extremists Want To Drive School Buses!

FBI and DHS says “Parents have nothing to worry about.” As a parent of a kid who rides the bus, now is really the time to know who’s driving your kids’ school bus and if his name is Osama, Muhammad, or Mahmoud I would really start to worry.

WASHINGTON - Suspected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States, counterterror officials said Friday, in a cautionary bulletin to police. An FBI spokesman says, “Parents and Children have nothing to fear”.

The bulletin, parts of which were read to The Associated Press, did not say how often foreign extremists have sought to acquire licenses to drive school buses, or where. It was sent Friday as part of what officials said was a routine FBI and Homeland Security Department advisory to local law enforcement.

It noted “recent suspicious activity” by foreigners who either drive school buses or are licensed to drive them, according to a counterterror official.

Foreigners under recent investigation include “some with ties to extremist groups” who have been able to “purchase buses and acquire licenses,” the bulletin says.

But Homeland Security and the FBI “have no information indicating these individuals are involved in a terrorist plot against the homeland,” it says. The memo also notes: “Most attempts by foreign nationals in the United States to acquire school bus licenses to drive them are legitimate.”

FBI and DHS says “Parents have nothing to worry about.”

Yeah, just like our unsecured border and unenforced immigration laws, despite the hundreds of crimes committed by ILLEGAL aliens each year.

And when Beslan II happens here in the U.S., all kids and parents will be frisked before they get on the bus to make us feel safe, and Bush will give us more TROP speeches.

Just like 9-11 and the airlines. >:(

Phew! This thread should come with a warning for graphic content. I don't think I'll ever get that image out of my head.

Temporary guest workers who can acquire licenses. Thank you, President Bush.

A Beslan type school hostage crisis is clearly possible here. Many of the Muslim refugees have turned against their benefactors and are a thread as are converted Muslims. The Muslim community in America is far more diverse than it was on 9/11 and it would be dangerous to only look at the foreign born portion. Islam can be an insidious religion, as destructive as any cult. There is plenty of support both internal and external.

The gut wrenching thing I have seen in Southeast Asia is that, in the name of Islam, people who have lived as neighbors for generations will bear and shoot their perceived enemies. These people calmly identify "friends" as targets for bands of murders and then demonstrate to protect monsters who have just kill folks who never did then the least harm. It is likely coming to this country if it is not already here.

Is school bus service typically contracted out these days? So far as I know, the school district where I grew up owned the school buses.

When I lived in New Orleans, public and private school kids would ride city buses.

Another possibility: terrorist buys school bus that looks exactly like one of the local school district. Terrorist customizes the bus with the name of the local school district and the bus number. One day he arrives a few minutes early and picks up the kids.

I assume the plan would be to put a bomb on the bus and then detonate it at the school, but maybe it would be something else....

if not Beslan 2 then some bus will drive off a bridge and the media will say it was "confusing off ramps" leading to a tragedy then a couple days later you will read in the new media how the drivers name used to be Joe Smith but later changed it to Abu Jihad when attending school in pakistan...

Why are you making it complicated? Why make it expensive? Osama didn't buy airplanes. You work for the bus company, they give you a bus, they give you a route full of children. All you have to do when the bus is full is drive to a corner to meet a couple of your buddies with weapons, now you have the bus, the children, you can do anything you want with them.

What threw me was this line:

Foreigners under recent investigation include “some with ties to extremist groups” who have been able to “purchase buses and acquire licenses,” the bulletin says.

So why would they purchase buses? Purchase buses and then bid on a contract (if school bus service is actually contracted out anywhere). As I say, where I grew up the school district owned the buses -- and yes, if they hired you as a driver, you got the bus, route, kids, etc.

The second possibility is a counterfeit bus.

A third possibility -- to give themselves a cover as to why they're acquiring the license?

There are plenty private bus companies which do the work for the school districts, so that is moot.

And why think it's all related to terrorizing children specifically?

This is an easy way for ROP thugs to get a big vehicle that has alot of "cargo" space that they can drive "innocently" up to whatever place they want to. No children needed.

While I'd be concerned about children, it is NOT the only thing they'd be planning with school buses.

It may not, but looking at a specific type of target suggests that's what they are considering striking.

The Chechens have seized buses, hospitals(twice), a theater, a school. These were the big hostage situations.

The hostage situation targets will be soft. Lots of people, most if not all of whom are incapable of defending the building when it is attacked. What doctor or nurse carries a gun? God love the security people at the hospital I took my mother earlier this month, but they wouldn't last 20 seconds against just three men armed with automatic rifles. And an actual hostage-taking attack would probably use about 50.

Hard targets, like police stations, government buildings with more serious security and people inside who can defend themselves will be targets of homicide drivers. They might use school buses, but usually it would be conspicuous and suspicious if a school bus has no children in it, so their use is somewhat questionable. Delivery trucks with few windows would be better. A UPS-type delivery truck, for instance, or a cement truck. If you really need bigger, a tractor-trailer rig gives you more capacity, and is a lot less conspicuous, although harder to maneuver. There are a lot of them, and they are easier to buy because they are not specialized, like school buses.

Of course they might buy buses and get legitimate bus contracts in order to gain intelligence about schools for targeting. Do not kid yourself, they will do (and probably are doing now) a lot of research on targets to pick the one they feel is the best.

The problem I have with these views (not that they're illegitimate altogether!) is that the Moslem terrorists were SMART on 9/11.

They chose IMPORTANT targets, at least that they thought would not just kill people, but disrupt commerce and government.

All the BS about hitting the WTC because it was "symbolic" was just that, BS. They chose it because they knew it was a center of trade.

If they were interested in real symbolism: duh, they would've shifted just 1 mi or so and hit the very easy target of the Statue of Liberty.

These guys were smart to hit at things that might really hurt, not just be emotional.

So, I suspect they really want to hit more important targets. Schools and the like are only emotional.

Not that it can't happen. It very well could. I just wouldn't put such "soft targets" at the top of the list.
