also pro-life and pro-right to keep and bare arms.

Not only does he favor the right to bare arms, he also favors the right to bear arms, which excites me more than bare arms. :^)

Hmmm, there once was this actor named Ronald Reagan -- just maybe Fred has it in him too!

Agreed and Thompson will run right over Rudy in the primaries.

Fred polled at 6% in a Q-poll in Ohio - which is rather impressive considering that it's the first "real" poll he's been in.

Give him three weeks and he'll be polling in third place. Once McCain drops out, Fred's neck and neck with Julie-Annie...and there ya have it.

I have to see if I can find it, but I saw a poll from about a week ago showing that Fred's positives are in the mid 60s. And negatives under 15%. Pretty impressive. Those are Reaganesque numbers.

Here's what Thompson's got: he can potentially unite the currently warring (but overlapping):
-small government, small-l fiscal conservatives (because Thompson has a strong record of limiting government, defending RKBA and giving power back to the states)
-social conservatives (because Thompson has a strong record on pro-life issues and others)
-national security conservatives (because he has a strong pro-national-defense record)

I think the only other candidate who even has a chance at uniting these factions is Romney (and lots of people disagree with me on that).

I've been watching for that, but I don't have any information.

"Probably a few days before Fred jumps in. He's gotta know by now that he can't win the nomination, and the RNC is probably starting to lean on him to get out. So he'll call a press conference, site "health reasons" and bow out gracefully.

My guess: it'll happen soon, because Rudy and Romney are sucking up all the big money, and I read last week that he's struggling to raise cash. Once Fred jumps in, you can also stick a fork in Romney. Conservatives who are lukewarm to him(like me) will jump on the Fred Thompson wagon, and the money will dry up. It'll come down to Fred and Rudy."

^^^^^^^That's what I'm hoping for.

Hat's/optional.

I think in the end it will all depend on how his wife feels about it. You find it in the policy book under the "If Mama ain't happy" rule.
So... What do you think are the chances that a relatively young woman who is a former political media consultant, would want her husband to run for President?

:)

The personal stuff matters. His wife needs to sit down with an interviewer and reel 'em in.
That shouldn't be too difficult, given her background.

I've caught 3 of his Paul Harvey broadcasts this week. I really don't like the sound of his voice, his manner of speech, his dialect, or anything else I hear on his Paul Harvey radio gig.
What has this guy got?
What does he stand for?
Why should I not wish he goes away?

I've listened to him as well, and his voice, manner of speech, his dialect, and everything else that I hear on his Paul Harvey radio gig sound great, and give me great confidence in his abilities. I particularly enjoyed his take on global warming!
