Evan Sayet, a former writer for Bill Maher, details his journey from liberalism to conservatism in a talk at the Heritage Foundation.
This is a great explanation of the left. Everyone should listen to it.

It's amazing how sexist and primitive some liberal men can be. And they think they'll never get called on it because of their political status.

Yep. It's just that even when they do get called on it, they turn it so that their accuser is the baddie for being so judgemental.

To those who haven't seen this, it is clear this individual speaks from both heart and mind, and is even funny at times. I expected a laugh track. Instead I heard a well-explicated rationale for liberalism's irrationality -- and an appreciative and understanding conservative assessment of today's WoT and "culture war." Well worth saving and showing to a liberal friend one day. It's on YouTube.

Dennis Miller was dropping his name on his radio show the
other day.
Why is it we see so many former liberals become conservative but how many conservatives become liberals?
"...conservative is a liberal who's been mugged..."

Though he did not say it explicitly, he made it clear that we are in a war for the soul of our nation. Lord help us!

This morning I played this for my wife. Although she's about as apolitical as one can be, she has definite opinions about society and the issues confronting us. She was astounded at the logic and clarity of thought expressed by Sayet. If you haven't listened to this, I again urge you to take the time to do so.
This talk could be the pivot point in the culture war.

Why is it we see so many former liberals become conservative but how many conservatives become liberals? Rather than viewing people as liberals and conservatives, I'd suggest a three-way division:
- Those who want others to take care of them.
- Those who want to take care of themselves (and control their own destiny).
- Those who want to control others.
Group #2 represents the conservatives. Groups #1 and #3 are "liberals", though for very different reasons. Applying the same label to those two groups merely creates confusion.
Put things in those terms and the nature of people's progression will become clear.
