I am Really New to Freerepublic and I don't really know what I am doing but, I did a search for this story here and didn't find it.

To Me .. It is a really important story.

I did many searches on Google and all that I could come up with is the following link.

It Has to have been buried?

I’ve seen it here on FR. No, it wasn’t buried. But it is a day or two old.

Welcome. One of the things you don’t do is change the title of the article.

Search on 'Milwaukee' by Title (date) showed these two FR threads:

The Daily News ^ | June 1, 2007 | AP staff
MILWAUKEE - A 5-year veteran of the Milwaukee police force is on suspension and accused of living under a false identity since taking the name of a dead cousin eight years ago. Federal prosecutors said the identity change by Oscar Ayala-Cornejo was documented in high school yearbooks of 1999: one showed he attended Pulaski High School under his own name before moving to Hamilton High School and attending as Jose A. Morales, the name of his cousin. A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court Thursday said Ayala-Cornejo, 24, was born in Mexico and is not a U.S. citizen but...

Brenda -- if you're new here, you need to realize FR has the news usually hours or days before anyone else. The New York Times even quoted FR posts after the shuttle disaster -- FReepers were posting what they saw realtime in the sky on a live thread.

Similarly, during that nightclub disaster a couple of years back, a FReeper down the street was reporting.

And FReepers in the area of the devastating tsunami were among the first to report.

Free Republic is seldom scooped.

The search routine here on FR is a bit weak. I used Yahoo with a search term of:
freerepublic + "Milwaukee police officer"

Do a search by date on the word Milwaukee.

Posted here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1842707/posts

and here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1842959/posts

And, FWIW, the Activism/Chapters topic is reserved for news of FReeps, etc.

You need to take it slow at first...before posting stuff days old.

I see stories and their details posted here days before I ever hear them mentioned in the dying traditional media.

Thanks, Abby

A Milwaukee police officer was arrested Wednesday by federal immigration agents on suspicion of being an illegal immigrant who assumed the identity of his dead cousin a decade ago, officials said.

He will continue to be paid, per state law.

Now isn't that special....

try google.com, search the topic you want plus “site:www.freerepublic.com” (no quotes).

It’ll even find references within threads.

But it takes a day or two to make the search engine.
