An AP article just came across the wire detailing another gaffe by presidential hopeful Mitt Romney (R-Mass.). Apparently, while in New Hampshire, Romney was confronted by an openly gay women who was disturbed by the former governors position on gay marriage. And in challenging him, she may have unwittingly changed or re-changed or re-re-changed his position on gay rights.
There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice, he said.
Umm
what? Weve lost track now, but we thought Romney opposed gay adoption and gay marriage. We have stopped being surprised by his all-too-often position changes - even from one month to the next - but we certainly never expected him to say gay couples raising kids is the American way.
Riiiiiiiiiiight.............
Because he didn't. He said the freedom to do so is American, and he's right.
Mitt the used car salesman
just another used car saleman
What’s that whirring sound?
The distant report of Willard “Weatherboy” Romney reversing his position again.
There ya' go thinking again...
Perfect.

Okay, so you need an extra 5 seconds.
I can live with that.
I would say this re-opens the debate on polygamy. I mean, it does, if polygamists only cohabited together minus an actual marriage. Then Mitt could add another comma to the above statement and say: "There are other ways to raise kids that's fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids, cohabiting polygamists--as long as the extra wives remain unmarried--raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice."
So he thinks we should not intrude in peoples lives as long as children are not threatened, but he also thinks we should not change our laws about marriage?
Beside the misleading headline, Am I missing something here?
I wanna see the doppler one!
” Because he didn’t. He said the freedom to do so is American, and he’s right.”
What he said was...
“There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice, he said.”
And it’s not fine... None of them are “fine”. Is it that you can’t read, or can’t you understand?
Colofornian,
That is such a unique insight. Wow, going for a twofer!
LOLOLOLOLOLOL *SNORT*
Now you’ve done it! You have opened that can of worms!
:)

And hey, Mitt, why stop at couples? How about a gay college fraternity house raising kids? After all, we know your bottom line: Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice.
Big tent Love.
LOLOL!
No it’s not.
The children of gay parents are much more likely to be promiscuous in an effort to PROVE they are not gay, which opens them up to VD and pregnancy and heartache.
There’s nothing “American” about conferring legitimacy on an emotional sickness, and forcing CHILDREN to provide cover with their very lives.
Don’t you care about the children?
Don't take it personally for trying to keep focus on someones finger when it is print to the wind at all times takes a lot of concentration for anyone.
Gay couples raising kids “the American way” according to Mitt. Hmm...Interested in your take
He said its fine to raise kids like that.
American way yes, we do have freedoms to do that. BUt its not fine!
Its immoral.
In an appearance Friday at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Memphis, an important early event for presidential hopefuls, he reiterated his position that "Every child in America has the right to a mother and a father." link
"Some [same-sex couples] are actually having children born to them," Romney said.
"It's not right on paper; it's not right in fact," he said. "Every child has a right to a mother and a father."
There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice,
Ping
Oh please!
Here is the original article....
N.H. woman challenges Romney on gay marriage
June 6, 2007
CONCORD, N.H. —A New Hampshire woman, frustrated with Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney’s opposition to gay marriage, made a point Wednesday of telling him about her personal experience.
“I am a gay woman and I have children. Your comment that you just made, it sort of invalidates my family,” said Cynthia Fish, a mother of a 6- and 8-year-old. “... I wish you could explain to me more, why if we are sending our troops over to fight for liberty and justice for all throughout this country, why not for me? Why not for my family?”
Romney paused, asked Fish about her children and then praised her.
“Wonderful,” Romney said. “I’m delighted that you have a family and you’re happy with your family. That’s the American way. ... People can live their lives as they choose and children can be a great source of joy, as you know. And I welcome that.”
But then Romney repeated his view of marriage.
“Marriage is an institution which is designed to bring a man and woman together to raise a child and that the ideal setting for society at large is where there is a male and a female are associated with the development and nurturing a child,” Romney said.
The former Massachusetts governor acknowledged other scenarios that raise children.
“There are other ways to raise kids that’s fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice,” he said

You da man Romney!
I’m not going to quibble about the ‘american way’ part of the statement.
‘Fine’ is the word I have a problem with.
Certianly there are cases where single parents are raising children thru no fault of their own, but its not an o.k. practice in general.
And here I thought Romney was all about family values.

Funny how the story changes when you include all of the facts and not just those that fit your agenda.
I don’t care if he’s Mormon or Martian. I don’t like his flip-flopping on important issues.
Romney is a FRAUD.
He (can-not) DOES NOT understand the issue if he believe Children (belonging to..) and growing up in a “homosexual household” they aren’t threatened! WAKE UP.
YEP, the first thing to check off on my list of POTUS requirements. /s
The Massachusetts Department of Social Services (DSS), run by the Romney administration, honored a homosexual "married" couple (two men) as their adoptive "Parents of the Year" for 2006. The DSS has gained a reputation for being aggressively pro-homosexual over recent years. This incident sparked outrage across the country, but to our knowledge no policies or personnel at DSS were changed as a result.

Sounds like ol’ Mitt just had his “jump the shark” moment

He’s not a flipper, he’s just kerry-esque.
Read the article....you Morman haters are so funny!
