but we certainly never expected him to say “gay couples raising kids” is “the American way.”

Because he didn't. He said the freedom to do so is American, and he's right.

What’s that whirring sound?

The distant report of Willard “Weatherboy” Romney reversing his position again.

We’ve lost track now, but we thought Romney opposed gay adoption and gay marriage.

There ya' go thinking again...

Hold it. Don't condemn Mitt too fast. After all, he was in New England when he said this. We all know he said all kinds of "pro-choice" things when he was pandering to MA voters; so of course...he's in NH...out pops more "pro-choice" verbiage in regard to "let's let ANY combo of parentage raise kids...I'm 'pro-choice' when I'm in New England and I always will be (when I'm in New England)."

Perfect.

Don't condemn Mitt too fast.

Okay, so you need an extra 5 seconds.

I can live with that.

“There are other ways to raise kids that’s fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice,” he said.

I would say this re-opens the debate on polygamy. I mean, it does, if polygamists only cohabited together minus an actual marriage. Then Mitt could add another comma to the above statement and say: "There are other ways to raise kids that's fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids, cohabiting polygamists--as long as the extra wives remain unmarried--raising kids. That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice."

So he thinks we should not intrude in peoples lives as long as children are not threatened, but he also thinks we should not change our laws about marriage?

Beside the misleading headline, Am I missing something here?

I agree SteveMcKing. Running two separate sentences together is making news. Stating what was said, two separate sentences, is reporting the news. "That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice,” is what he said.

Doing it the reporters way "gay couples raising kids" the reporter needs to report every thing that was said to include "single moms raising kids is the American way" and "grandparents raising kids is the American way." Let's report it all if we decide to run together what he said.

” Because he didn’t. He said the freedom to do so is American, and he’s right.”

What he said was...

““There are other ways to raise kids that’s fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice,” he said.”

And it’s not fine... None of them are “fine”. Is it that you can’t read, or can’t you understand?

gay couples raising kids

And hey, Mitt, why stop at couples? How about a gay college fraternity house raising kids? After all, we know your bottom line: That’s the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice.
