Just like jokes. Some people get them, some don't. Trying to explain a joke to someone who doesn't get it will never make the joke better, only worse.
I can't think of anyone who knew this better than Gary Larson. On any given day, his comic frame could drop you to the floor laughing while your friend was saying "I don't get it." Next day, you look at the comic and and it's you're pal, laughing his ass off.
When no one gets the metaphor, or the joke, and you have to explain it to everyone, the message has no hope of getting through.
I never metaphor I didn’t “like.”
Are you attending the DS at SPELC-Lockport?
Since we called off the BBQ following, no, I'm not planning on it. It would be backtracking south, since I'm staying on the far north side of Chicago Saturday night and then heading up to Door County Sunday after church. (I would have made the extra trek if it had included the extra reason to come down. Otherwise, I'll catch church more on my way.)
My wife and daughter will be staying somewhere in southern Wisconsin Saturday night, so I'll head up Sunday morning and catch them in time for church, maybe in Sussex or somewhere around there.
Jose & Carlos
Jose & Carlos are two illegal alien panhandlers on the streets
in East Los Angeles. Jose drives a Mercedes, lives in a mortgage
free house and has a lot of money to spend.
Carlos only brings in 2 to 3 dollars a day.
So one day, Carlos asks Jose how he can bring home a suitcase
full of $10 bills each and every day.
Jose says. “Look at your sign, mi amigo.... It says: “I have no work,
a wife and 6 kids to support”.
But then Carlos looks at Jose’s sign. It reads,
“I only need another $10.00 to move back to Mexico”.
Well, now you're talking of the area of my youth (or should I say 'Yute' as Rush does?). After leaving Oak Park when I was 12, we moved to Twin Lakes, WI near Lake Geneva. That's where I grew up. But I'd guess your family will be nearer the Eastern end of Kenosha County as it's a straight shot north through Milwaukee up to Door County. Dad worked for Goldblatt Bros. in Downtown Chicago, and was transfered to their Racine store when it opened. We chose Twin Lakes because we had relatives there (we built next door to them), and it was close to where their parents had lived at one time. Funny, but last evening I was just telling a neighbor's girl about growing up 'by the lake' as a youth of her age.
can you explain Astral Projection a little more?
