Posted on 10/05/2007 6:15:27 PM PDT by WalterSkinner
blog article posting where the powerful voice of FRC president mentions possible support for Duncan Hunter.
We should all write Mr perkins and Dr. Dobson as well and urge them to support Hunter.
Wow! I’m really impressed. YAWN!!!!!!
It’s about time someone looked at his credentials and his positions on the issues. He’s the right guy, but with low name recognition. But a few more endoresements (well, maybe MANY MORE) will certainly help.
Come on. They have the opportunity to help put the most conservative top tier candidate (Fred) over the top, and instead they waste their endorsement on a candidate that doesn’t have a chance to win a single state?
Support from this group would mean a lot--and it's still early...
They need a villain like Hillary to use to raise funds with for the next eight years. This isn’t about what is good for America, it’s about the bottom line...
Family Research Council would be a big endorsement for Hunter. Hope he gets it.
I must add my agreement with their choice but I came to the conclusion much earlier!
“We should all write Mr perkins and Dr. Dobson as well and urge them to support Hunter.”
Also, we need to be emailing Rush! I sense he is leaning towards Fred Thompson, the “couragous one”. BIG MISTAKE!! Ann Coulter needs to set him straight!
It could mean a lot, but not when its thrown to a candidate that has no chance. The only man to ever become president immediately after serving in the House was James Garfield. There’s a reason. Unless you’re in the leadership, it’s extremely hard to get any name recognition. Few people outside of his own district are likely to even know who Duncan Hunter is.
..once he gets past this “phony soldier” thing—maybe he will reconsider...
“Come on. They have the opportunity to help put the most conservative top tier candidate (Fred) over the top, and instead they waste their endorsement on a candidate that doesnt have a chance to win a single state?”
What happens when the Fred Thompson candidacy falls flat? Then who do we turn to? You are assuming an awful lot from a man who is in the “top tier” mainly because of name recognition and not of anything substantial in his resume. Sooner or later, the bloom will be off his rose. Count on it.
I agree with you that Fred is a good choice, but Hunter is also a good choice.
If I thought it were possible, I might be on the Hunter bandwagon, too. Republican primaries generally don’t the have upsets and topsy-turvyfights the Dems do. Since 1980, our candidates have really been predictable years beforehand.
Everyone knew it’d be Reagan in ‘84, Bush in ‘88, again in ‘92, Dole in ‘96, and 43 in 2000 and 2004. Compare to the Dems. Wasn’t Hart the front runner in ‘88? Whatever happened to Tsongas in 1992? If the trend in January 2004 had held up, it’d been Dean getting beat in the general election.
The fact that our primary is so contested this year is unusual. The closest thing we’ve got to the predictable candidate is Rudy. Realistically, if there’s any chance to keep him from getting the nomination, the base needs to get behind one strong candidate. That’s why I support Fred.
Hunter would be a great choice, except for the fact that no one even knows who he is. I don’t think he brings much vote-wise to the ticket- the only way the Republicans will win California is if we don’t need it. Maybe a Cabinet level position will raise his recognition and propel him to the presidency down the road.
“We should all write Mr perkins and Dr. Dobson as well and urge them to support Hunter.”
He served in Vietnam. His son is a Marine. He is no phony.
I hear people bring up Hunter’s name on the radio, as he has lots of grass roots’ support.
Just today I heard a woman call a talk show host on WABC, and say, WHAT ABOUT DUNCAN HUNTER?
Then a little later, my husband was talking to his brother in New York City on the phone, who he hasn’t talked with in a long time because he lives far away, and my husband said my wife’s favorite pres. candidate is Duncan Hunter. So his brother said, he’s my favorite, too.
And he’s MY brother’s favorite, as well.
I can feel the vibes. Great things are happening!
We all can help Duncan Hunter get even greater name recognition if we call a talk show, and contribute to his campaign so he can get his message out to even more conservatives.
No...not us. DUNCAN HUNTER NEEDS TO CALL AND GO VISIT DR. DOBSON...IMMEDIATELY...
“He served in Vietnam. His son is a Marine. He is no phony.”
Absolutely! Duncan Hunter was a Ranger in Viet Nam, and won a medal, and Hunter’s son did two tours in Iraq, including Falluja, and is now doing a third tour in Afghanistan.
From link in OP:
“with Hunter as his favorite.”
Hunter is getting more and more support.
I have this feeling, that Dobson is reluctant to name a candidate yet, other than those he won’t support, because he knows the atmosphere is somewhat hostile to him at times, and he doesn’t want “the” candidate to get tarnished by it this early. Lets face it, if the media should hear that Dobson has met with and support Hunter, they would brand Hunter a Dobson religious freak.
It wouldn’t be correct nor would it be accurate concerning Dobson, but we all know the media and the left.
IF a conservative gets the nomination, THEN would be a good time to make his support known. A lot of the Christians who are of the same mind as Dobson regarding their vote, already know they want Hunter. He may just be holding back his opinion, but he has stated “if the Republicans nominate” and stated his dis qualifiers. He knows Hunter doesn’t have any of them.
Duncan Hunter, arrived in Washington in 1980 as part of the original Reagan Revolution.
Fred Thompson, one term Senator from Tennessee.
Hope he gets it. And, with the spittin’ contest between Fred T and Dobson, maybe Hunter can pick up the Focus on the Family endorsement, which woud get the ball seriously rolling for evangelical conservatives.
Thank you for your link... Duncan Hunter does nothing but impress.
Posting to a few of the contributors to this thread, as many of the posts have to do with name recognition/Duncan Hunter.
I live in Columbus OH and have already begun to see Ron Paul signs. Did you all know that Duncan Hunter signs ARE available? Duncan Hunter signs on your lawn, in a front window, street corner, and especially in high traffic areas around freeway entrances and exits all across the country, would be very helpful in getting Duncan Hunter name recognition now. The first day I put my Duncan Hunter sticker in my car window, I had 2 other cars honk at me and give a thumbs up!!
Did you know that there are Duncan Hunter Meetup groups all across the country. We get together in individual states to plan ways to get Duncan’s name out there, to fundraise, and show support for him at events. See my tagline if you are interested.
I am very very interested, thanks for the ping...
Ignore the soothsayers, it is their candidates who haven’t a chance once the electorate hears about Duncan Hunter. Let the childish taunts continue.....it’s all they have. They have played their hands (poll numbers and name-recognition) so we will continue to play ours (a candidate of substance who walks the talk). We have always held the best hand and they have been bluffing all along.
I for one will not roll over and let others decide for me who the candidate will be this time. I have the power of the voice, and the vote, just like anyone else. I will work as hard as I know how for Duncan Hunter. I am going to do that today. I’m loaded down with Hunter flyers, and am going to Cincinnati to the Gun Rights Policy Convention and am going to talk about Duncan Hunter until I’m hoarse! It is possible to have Hunter for our candidate, we just have to get off our butts, and get out and work. And if we can’t get out, we can talk to everyone we know, and some we don’t know! It is worth the effort. He will be a wonderful President!
You go girl!! LOL
Best of luck to you and whomever is able to join you today! Wish I could be there. I’ll bet there will be many attendees at this event who will be very interested and receptive to your message. United We Stand and We WILL win OHIO for DUNCAN HUNTER!!

Under different circumstances, I might consider voting for Hunter. It’s just my opinion that Giuliani has to be stopped and the best way to do that is to get behind Fred.
Thank you Kimberly!
And we should also call talk shows, even local talk shows if we don’t have time to redial for the top 5 talk shows.
Where does one get the lawn signs?
Of course he leans toward Duncan Hunter.
Any conservative who reads Mr Hunter’s positions knows that Hunter is the real conservative in this race. He is THE experienced conservative. the pro-life conservative. the Reagan legacy conservative. the pro-gun conservative. the pro natural family conservative. the pro natural marriage conservative. the pro natural affection conservative. the pro defense conservative. the pro patriotism conservative. the pro God conservative. the pro soldier conservative. the pro fair business conservative. the pro defense industrial base conservative. the pro legal citizenship conservative.
Anyone with a lick of sense knows that Duncan Hunter’s positions are the right positions and the best positions.
Now he needs traction.
Are there any bumper stickers with that on it? If so, I would LOVE to get some!
Start talking to your family, neighbors, coworkers and any other opportunity you have to support Duncan Hunter. He is THE real deal.
I just made that graphic this morning, so no bumper stickers. :)
The day started on a high note! I stopped to get gas, and while I was there, I decided to put Hunter bumper stickers in my back side windows. A guy was coming out of the store, and saw what I was doing. He said “Lady, you have good taste!” I said “Yes, I do, would you like a bumper sticker and some flyers?” Of course, he took them, and thanked me, and said he thought Hunter was the best candidate. I agreed, and was on my way!!!
Ok, I must just be dense tonight, it has been a long week. Where do I find these Duncan Hunter sticker and yard signs?
That site is nice, but not exactly dummy navigable.
“Any conservative who reads Mr Hunters positions knows that Hunter is the real conservative in this race.”
And no FLIP FLOPS. A TRUE conservative for his 26 years in office!
“Everyone knew itd be Reagan in 84, ..”
But that was the SECOND TIME Reagan ran. Duncan Hunter is running for the first time for POTUS.
Here’s what happened the first time Reagan ran:
“As late as March of 1980 it wasnt sure that President Reagan would win the nomination and he was 25 points behind Carter in the national polls. But conservatives kicked up their efforts, won the nomination and won the election in a landslide. We can do it again. It wont be easy. But it will be well worth the effort.
From the link: .. But conservatives kicked up their efforts, ..
So lets do it AGAIN, conservatives. Contribute to Duncan Hunters campaign, call a talk show, write a letter to the editor and include Hunters website,
