So-called "Global Warming" printed on Starbucks Cup
My Starbucks Cup | 12/26/2007 | Self

Posted on 12/26/2007 11:29:01 AM PST by 2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten

Sitting at my desk looking at my (now empty) Starbucks Cup.

It says:

The Way I See It #289

So-called "global warming" is just a secret ploy by wacko tree-huggers to make America energy independent, clean our air and water, improve the fuel efficiency of our vehicles, kick-start 21st-century industries, and make our cities safter and more liveable. Don't let them get away with it!

--Chip Giller Founder of Grist.ort where environmentally minded people gather online.

TOPICS: Politics
KEYWORDS: globalwarming; starbucks
Well, well, well. OK I get the oh-so-clever irony of the post (and by the way Chip, so-called Global warming is, well, Global, so why did you mention America?) but is the left about to say - "Forget what we said about the earth having a fever - all we really meant was we wanted clean air!"

Do even the enviro-whackos start to see the idiocy of Global Alarming?

Buy your overroasted, overrated, overpriced coffee somewhere else.

The best thing about free markets is that they are, well, free, don’t you think? - I.E. we each vote with our own dollars?

I’m in a quandry with what to do with the $50 Starbuck’s gift certificate given to me by a co-worker. I know he means well, but... .

How about you decide where to go with your dollars and I decide likewise with mine? Seems to me that is the optimal way in which things should work.

The attraction of many Consumers to Starbacks is hard to understand. Considering it is overpriced and also it is a scam considering many of their coffee drinks are light and any additional shots attracts extra charges.

Sure that’s a given - but I was struck by the fact that their support for their god was wavering just a bit - I mean one doesn’t give up on one’s beliefs all at once but rather little by little. Many people have said that global alarming is this decade’s version of Y2K - maybe they are switching their tack?

India and China are ramping UP for a new industrial revolution. It is foolhardy to believe that American industry (especially with all of the outsourcing of production and the loss of technological advances to competitors who manufacture for us) will always be on top.

The nations that are coming up to speed don’t even NEED to adopt fossil fuel technology, but they are anyway. They could leapfrog the technology and go with something else and drive development of the next leading technology.

But the movement is really just anti-Western. We need to live in huts like the third world.

Ted Danson has finally conceded that he engaged in “hyperbole” (not lying) back in the 1980s when he said that our oceans would be dead within 20 years.

He says now that he needed to make an extreme statement to focus attention on the issue.

Just as JFKerry now says that his talk of “war crimes” in Vietnam was just the ranting of an angry young man, that he does not stand behind all of his own claims now.

Socialists lie.

The attraction? It’s trendy, gives off an air of an intellectual habitat, and not reasonable.

Sound familiar?

Totally agree - that’s where I was going - just like Dan Rather - fake but accurate - the end justifies the means. Don’t bother us with the facts because we so clearly mean well.

I mean $50 for a coffee place is not likely to be a single visit, unless you are buying for a group.

It seems more like one of those gifts that someone gives “that keeps giving”.

And while you bring in breakfast some morning, he’ll brag about how he paid for it...

Yes, you’re right...this gift card will keep on giving, and it will give to the person behind me as well.

Now that’s one good thing I like about Starbuck’s, is the pay-it-forward attitude.

I don’t do corporate coffee. I make my own lattes at home. And when I do buy one, I believe in supporting my local coffee stands. But go to Starbucks? Forget it.

I do, actually, have a moonbat relative...but quite frankly she’s too smart for Starbuck’s. She doesn’t have time for that trap.

The corner Quick Stop has one of those capicino machines that cranks out a much better drink for only 99 cents.

This is my new New Year’s Resolution—no more Starbucks. I’ll save money and calories—and probably have to get a prescription for Dexedrine to stay awake—but no more Starbucks.
