There has been a lot of discussion here, whether Romney defeating McCain in Michigan helps Fred in South Carolina. Intrade provides the answer:
Romney MI today:

Thompson SC today:

Fredheads and Mittbots together singing Kumbaya.

I would be ok with a Thompson/Romney ticket. Fred can train Romney in the school of Reagan conservatism, then Romney can run in 2016.

This is exactly what we have been trying to tell everyone all week that have accused Fred of being McCain's stalking Horse.
Fred was counting on Romney to take care of McCain, then he will finish him in South Carolina.
Fred will now win SC - Romney will win Nevada, McCain and Huck will both be mortally wounded.
Florida will become a Fred-Mitt-Rudy battle and will set up a Mitt-rudy knockdown dragout in the northern and liberal-leaning western states and Cali, A Fred-Mitt faceoff in the Conservative-leaning western and midwest states, and a Fred sweep through the South.

You’re right. I guess he could go for it in 2016, if the aging doesn’t catch up with him too quickly. I mean, his supporters are very hung up on that kind of thing, so he might not be able to make it otherwise...

Huckabee is now the favorite in South Carolina. BWAHAhAhAHAHAHAhA -- pass over whatever you are drinking and smoking... every indication is that Huck is Cratering quickly in South Carolina. He has lost over 25% of his support in the rasmussen poll in 5 days.
Huck is out of money, has 2 consecutive also ran finishes in states he campaigned his butt off in, and he is being exposed as the fraud he is by Mitt and Fred all over the place.
Huck has joined the VAST PANTHEON of Iowa winners that never even made it past the first half of Primary season.

Would be nice if it works out that way. I am just hoping the Huckabee supporters realize what an ass he is and come to their senses and support Fred. If Fred can pull off SC, then I agree Huckster is finito and Mc Cain will be close to done.

Any Republican other than Huckabee and McCain can beat her.

According to whom? He is tanking in the polls in South Carolina and after he garners less than a dozen percentage points in Michigan tonight he will tank faster.
The Huckster is squarely in Thompson's sites and he is going to continue to make an ass of himself as the pressure builds.

Of course Romney kicking Huck’s ass helps Fred. Huck begins to look vulnerable. Huck is a southerner and that can only translate to more votes for Fred in SC.

Actually, Romney cannot win a general election as he reminds to many people of Jaques Francois... Rich and out-of-touch with the average guy. As Huckabee said, he really does remind you of the guy that laid you off. He might go over well with some Kool-Aid drinkers in MI, but I don’t think that many indes. or moderate Republicans are going to buy what he’s selling. (In fact, I most definitely will never vote for him in an election.. If he was running against Obama, I’d vote Dem. and if he was running against Hitlery, I’d vote None of the Above).
I don’t think that Huckabee can really win either as he only appeals to a small seg. of the population. However, I do think that he’d make a quite fine VP and would do a good job balancing out Rudy or McCain both regionally and on issues. (Huckabee’s very good on the domestic side).
As for the top of the ticket, only Rudy or McCain could actually keep the race close. And since Rudy has alot of personal baggage, McCain is preferable. (As for Thompson, I’m not sure why he’s running.. Did he lose a bet or something?? Because he seems to be enjoying it as much as root canal surgery).
