PART VI - JUST SAY NO: To John McCain -- and not a PENNY to the RNC this election cycle
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/justsayno2johnmccain/ ^ | Monday, 24 March 2008 | David C. Osborne

Posted on 03/24/2008 7:31:09 AM PDT by davidosborne

PART SIX -- in my JUST SAY NO SERIES: KeyWord: JustSayNo2JohnMcCain

.... The focus of PART SIX in my "Just say no" series is on the RNC itself.. I have recieved several solicitations/phone calls from various RNC fund raising efforts, Have You?

I would like to encourage you to JUST SAY NO - To the RNC this cycle... I would encourage you to send any contributions you have made in the past to the RNC to CONSERVATIVE candidates for the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. I know this will take extra time/effort, but we need to send the message that WE <-- the conservative BASE <-- SHALL NOT BE IGNORED by our party.... and IMHO a vote for John McCain will DESTROY the conservative base of the RNC...

In response to the FReepers who think they should "HOLD THEIR NOSE" and Vote FOR McCain.. I ask you to reconsider this option, unless you want to completely DESTROY the two-Party system and move our party so far to the left that the base is completely ignored in ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS...

I have cut the RNC off a couple of years ago and send directly to candidates.

I got a RNC mailer a couple of months ago and instead of a check I sen them a billing invoice for a reimbursement of my past contributions for they way they have pushed RINO’s and bad policy decisions off on us. I have not gotten a check yet :)

I find it very therapeutic to send my frustrated sentiments to the RNC in their own prepaid envelopes with a big ole HELL NO on the solicitation part.

LOL. Been down that road before.

Seems that the ludicrousness of the ‘92 Perot alternative”to a lethargic GHWB White House gave us 8 years of sheer hell.

This is not a perfect world; and we best play the cards we are dealt, or go home from the game, dead broke, with hat-in-hand. Political Science 101.

Respectfully submitted, dk/coro — now in Battle Creek. *S*

>>>I ask you to reconsider this option, unless you want to completely DESTROY the two-Party system and move our party so far to the left that the base is completely ignored in ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS...

I find that sentence redundant. THAT was the whole point of the Centrist Coalition.

Senate Centrist Coalition

Excerpt:

According to Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD), "The Centrist Coalition is a group of moderate Democrats and Republicans seeking common ground and compromise on issues. ... The Centrist Coalition helps to bridge the two parties ... It brings together progressive national policy initiatives while promoting growth for businesses and increasing personal responsibility for Americans. Most South Dakotans are not left or right-wingers, but instead are right down the middle -- they simply want their government to work well and efficiently. The Centrist Coalition is a good step toward bringing the parties together."

(snip)

"The group also exerted influence in helping to push for enactment of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill, said Sandy Maisel, director of the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

"Maisel said the members who frequently attend the coalition's meetings 'have the potential to have a great deal of influence' in the current Senate which is closely divided with 55 Republicans, 44 Democrats and Jim Jeffords, a Vermont Independent who usually votes with the Democrats.

"'All they need is a swing group of about six or seven, and then they can be very influential,' he said."

Excerpting the Republican Members:

* Republicans

* George Allen
* Bob Bennett
* Kit Bond
* John Chafee
* Susan Collins
* Mike DeWine
* Pete Domenici
* Peter Fitzgerald
* Bill Frist
* Judd Gregg
* Chuck Hagel
* Jim Jeffords
* John McCain
* Pat Roberts
* Richard Shelby
* Gordon Smith
* Olympia J. Snowe
* Arlen Specter
* Fred Thompson
* George V. Voinovich
* John Warner

Looks familiar. We are screwed for the next 4 years. The best case scenario is that Mccain selects a conservative running mate then has to resign for health reasons.

I actually thought the same thing.. if McCain REALY wants to energize the base that is EXACTLY what needs to happen.. He needs to select a CONSERVATIVE VP running mate... hmmm Duncan Hunter maybe, but the ONLY way Duncan Hunter should accept it is if he RESIGNS at the same time.. and then Duncan Hunter can choose a VP running mate...

To: pissant

McCain’s base would never support him with a real conservative on the ticket. Just like the conservatives wouldn’t support a ticket with McCain on it.

If McCain remains the running mate, the democrats will take the White House.

Let’s just hope that ‘remains’ is the operative word here. A change in the playing field still can happen.

That scenario sounds like NJ politics :))

Our NJ politicians have actually switched candidates right before elections. Laws don’t apply to the elite in this state.

If McCain gets the nomination, it means we have basically a one party system. During the last election, the Democrats gave us Kerry, their weakest candidate and the only one in the opinion of many who was likely to lose to Bush. Now, it appears, it is the GOP's turn to provide the worst candidate - somebody likely to lose. For the Democrats and MSM it is a win-win-win.

BTW, did you know that McCain was a POW? Anyway, later he went to visit with his captors. I wonder why he pushed for dropping finding our POW/MIAs.

While I would not be shocked if he chose a Democrat for VP, I doubt he will. Tom Ridge and Lindsay Graham have been mentioned. I expect it will be somebody who adores illegal aliens and CFR.

“Tom Ridge and Lindsay Graham have been mentioned.”

Yikes, two moderates, and Tom Ridge is also pro-abortion.

I also read where Senator Thune’s name was under consideration. He’s a good choice, which is why Laura Ingraham campaigned for him when he won the senate seat.

Duncan Hunter would be PERFECT, but I guess that’s setting my expectations too high.

Copied from thread #5..........

You certainly won't be better off with the judges "turn em all loose" Obama unleashes on this country and the SCOTUS.

Which is PRECISELY why the congressional races are CRITICAL.... the POTUS can't put a judge in with the ADVISE and CONSENT of the Senate... ca-mon folks we need to quit preaching all this "vote for McCain because the other guy is WORSE" <---- garbage....
