As one who is distressed hearing the Urban Legends pouring from the mouth of a popular minister, I think it is important to document how he cleverly weaves stories which many either want to believe or can be swayed to believe, but are not true.
Please post and document the Urban Legends, lies and distortions you find.
Our congregation stood in solidarity with the peasants in El Salvador and Nicaragua, while our government, through Ollie North and the Iran-Contra scandal, was supporting the Contras, who were killing the peasants and the Miskito Indians in those two countries.

...several Miskito groups eventually formed guerrillas in the 1980s, which carried on armed struggle against the central government. They were accused of separatism by the latter. On 25 February 1982, Steadman Fagoth, one of the guerrilla leaders, fled to Honduras along with 3,000 Miskitos, while the Sandinistas began to denounce the incursion of Contras in the Rio Coco zone. The Miskitos occupied the village of San Carlos during the "Red December" (20-21 December 1982) during which several Sandinista soldiers were killed. In retaliation, the state massacred 30 Miskitos in the following days, prompting many of them to escape to Honduras to live in a difficult state of exile. The state of emergency in the Rio Coco zone was proclaimed in 1983, and lasted until 1988.[4] In 1983 the Misurasata movement, led by Brooklyn Rivera, split, with the breakaway Misura group of Stedman Fagoth allying itself more closely with the FDN, one of the first Contra commanded by Enrique Bermúdez. A subsequent autonomy statute in September 1987 largely defused Miskito resistance.

Wright teaches Black Liberation Theology that was the creation of the black radical James Hal Cone, who took the Latin American Liberation Theology that had been created by Marxists to lure poor catholics into their "revolution" (because they knew their totally Godless marxism would not work), and revamped it for blacks in America.
One of the most critical "urban legends" that Wright teaches, and one thet transcends all others IMHO, is that Christ was an oppressed black man living under whitey rule (the Romans) who was as much or more of a social revolutionary against white oppression as he was about spiritual salvation. In this sense, the theology is much closer to what the Islamics teach about Christ than what true Christians teach about Him.
It is a hate-filled, bigoted, anti-American, race bating, marxist construct. Here is what it's creator, James Hal Cone, says about it, the same James Hal Cone who Wright constantly refers to and holds up as an icon:
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."This then is the trough from which Barack Hussein Obama has fed and the well from which he has drunk deeply for the past 20+ years.

I do not think it is amazing if a few people in a tribe remembers an hours long story they memorized over maybe a couple of decades, you can probably get most anyone (including a retarded person) to do that over time through repetition IMO.

The extension of Wright's logic is that there is something inherently defective with a black person that performs well in school.
You realize he doesn’t actually believe that the government invented HIV. It’s KGB-style agitprop. Whether Wright was ever a part of a Communist front-organization, I don’t know, but he obviously hung around with the Hyde Park left, which was dominated by front-organizations during the Cold War, and picked up their techniques.

What makes this worse is the fact that our tax money (and private funds and charities) have raised and distributed more money to develop a cure and treatments for AIDS/HIV, especially for Africa. We’ve given more than all the rest of the world combined and G. Bush increased this level twice!
Another myth: The US gave Blacks syphlis (sp?). No. The Blacks that contracted this disease on their own were not properly treated, just observed (which also happened to Whites.)
And another: Women earn 75% of what men make on average. No. Comparing women that do not leave the workplace, with the same education, etc. to men with the same experience, and the pay is virtually the same. Otherwise, where are all of the lawsuits that would be filed because of this?
Like Larry Elder says, “If this were true, the ‘evil companies’ would fire nearly all of the men for an instant 25% savings in payroll expenses.”
It’s ironic that the Rev. Wright complains about drugs and viruses being created and distributed to specifically target Black and Brown people. What’s sad is that Rev. Wright IS a virus of the worst kind. He, and others, profit by spreading nonsense, which stunts the mental growth of so many. No real drug or virus could have the effect that whitey-hating rhetoric, urban myths and the like are having in Black barbershops, workplace break rooms, family settings and churches throughout the country.

That is three myths in one: They say that Blacks, the uneducated and the poor serve in higher numbers than others. It’s...not...true.
There are TOO MANY myths that stay in the minds of people like: Blacks don’t make as much as Whites ( married Blacks that stay on track make almost as much as their White counterparts); the rich don’t pay taxes, etc.
Why is it at tax time the major media will print plenty of stories about where and when to file, last-minute tips, and camera crews will be out on the evening of April 15th showing people dropping off returns to the Post Office personnel? But, have you ever seen a story, in a local or national paper or on TV, about the amount that the rich, middle class and the poor pay (and don’t pay?) I never have.
As to WHY these myths stay around: because the media and the left want people to be confused and angry to have a reason to vote in the left, to expand government control, which the media desires.
Many times the Right actually solves problems like Welfare Reform, terrorism on US soil, the economy (when they can get Congress to approve tax cuts and back off some regulation). And yet, they don’t get credit for it. Even when the right spends on left-wing issues they don’t get credit (Nixon setup the EPA and King’s birthday, Bush Sr. and Junior have spent plenty on AIDS funding, No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drug Benefits and much more.) Yet the media complain they didn’t spend enough!
Go figure.
