We all remember stories about the Teflon Don (John Gotti). But when it comes to the ever-growing cost of gasoline, the new phrase in the political world should be the Teflon Dems. Let there be no mistake. A vast majority of those within the Democratic Party see no downside to the fact the price of oil seems to reach a new high every day.
In fact, the more Americans pay for a gallon of gasoline, the bigger the smile on the faces of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. As long as George Bush is in the White House, everything related to the high price of energy will be blamed on Republicans. There are a number of reasons for this. Bush is linked with the oil industry and nothing the Republicans can do will change this public perception of the man from Texas. The President's recent trip to Saudi Arabia was portrayed as a fruitless hat-in-hand endeavor by the dominant media, even though ...

What’s good for America is bad for the Dems.
Total BS...
If the gutless Repubs had the spine to tell the voters whose fault it really is, the Dims wouldn’t stand a chance.
If you like $5/gal, Thank Congress in Nov.

...and who knows? Maybe with enough of it they might just dislodge McCain from his rediculous position as well.

Maybe some Dems. remember how gas prices zoomed upwards when Jimmy Carter was president. And he responded by giving his malaise speech, which certainly inspired the American people. And he pushed and got a windfall profits tax bill passed.
Dems. would prefer to just blame things on Bush and Republicans, and tie McCain to Bush. They would rather tell us who is to blame for problems, rather than giving us their solutions and their take on what caused the problem to start with.
They have been beating republicans with this issue for a long time. The public must force this issue it has to be a ground swell.
The 110th Congress is the worst Congress in our history.
Gas prices have doubled.
Corn and other food commodities have doubled. Third world countries are having riots over food.
The incandescent light bulb - brainchild of the great American Thomas Edison - has been banned.
What will a Democratically controlled 111th Congress bring us?
I think the tide is turning on the drilling issue. When the pain gets too much at the pump the people would drill on Mount Rushmore for oil. The Dems will loose this issue eventually. It is only a matter of time now.
Take a look at the absolute hatred of nuclear power plants 20 years ago. Now even the founder of Green Peace advocates nuclear power.
I work in Nuclear power and the problem is that the anti-nuclear folks have succeeded in making it a hugely expensive process. I guess the bright side is that the way they have demonized coal, nuclear is turning out to be the less evil and expensive of the reasonable obtainable base load options.
I live very close to a nuclear plant. There is zero negative affect on the community. I wish they would build more. I wish there could be a standard cookie cutter scale-able design. That would not only make the plants cheaper, it would also make it easier for workers to move from plant to plant.
If this is so, which it might be at this time, then it will be Dems all the way from now on because high fuel costs are here and won’t be going away.
