AFDC Welfare has created millions of fatherless children to their detriment and to the great detriment of society as a whole. AFDC should be converted into a temporary emergency program for new recipients. In my last column I discussed the total failure of the Section 8 Housing program, and Katrina showed us just what the terrible consequences of the anti-poverty programs have inflicted on a population, rendering them helpless to take any action to deal with a weather catastrophe.

We need to eliminate all these ridiculous cradle to grave “entitlement” programs. The government makes up these socialist “rights” and goes forth with income redistribution, which is both morally wrong and a complete failure. All the while they take away real rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution in the name of “security” or “fairness” or “diversity” or any other of a number of stupid catch phrases. This country was not founded on the principles of an all powerful federal government; it was founded on limited government with a federal government just strong enough to be able to control all the states and protect the liberties of its citizens, not to force its will upon the whole country and make up rights that don’t exist.
