Cal Thomas: Obama doesn’t qualify to be a Christian
BKNeese.com ^ | 6/30/08 | Brad Neese

Posted on 06/30/2008 7:07:58 PM PDT by pissant

Okie blogger Dr. Bruce Prescott takes issue with an essay by Cal Thomas posted by Baptist Press, in which Thomas writes:

Obama can call himself anything he likes, but there is a clear requirement for one to qualify as a Christian and Obama doesn’t meet that requirement. One cannot deny central tenets of the Christian faith, including the deity and uniqueness of Christ as the sole mediator between God and Man and be a Christian. Such people do have a label applied to them in Scripture. They are called “false prophets.”

Dr. Prescott counters:

Somebody needs to tell Cal Thomas and Baptist Press that Barak Obama is running for President, not prophet. … Someone also needs to remind Cal Thomas and the editors at Baptist Press to reread Matthew 7:1-5 and Matthew 7:15-27.

… Constitutionally, there’s no religious test for holding public office in this country. Obama’s running for President, not pastor or prophet.

*

It would seem to me that Cal Thomas and like-minded others are usurping the role of the ultimate Judge. I wouldn’t think that is the wisest position to be put oneself in. Fortunately for me and for Barack Obama, there is only One opinion that really matters.

P.S. Talking about “false prophets,” wouldn’t usurping the role of the ultimate Judge make that person a “false judge”?

I'd be hard pressed to call Black Liberation Theology anything but a cult, frankly. But hey, if Obama's faith is good enough for Calypso Louie, it should be good enough for America.

When Ministers preach to the choir, they need to keep it confined to the choir room. Yet another opportunity for the liberal press to attack the faithful.

It’s always amusing whne leftist want to trot out Bible verses. Of course the verses they trot out are the judge not or do not caste stones Bible verses. Of course this never seems to keep liberals from casting stones and making judgements (i.e., When Jerry Falwell died). Bible is pretty clear about what a Christian is and what a christian is not. The liberals are taken the “judge not” Bible verses and for to a great degree what pretty much phased out the spiritual gift of discernment.

Ah, but when he calls himself a Christian, whether he is running for president or whatever...he puts himself under the scrutiny of believers to exercise their own understanding of what really constitutes a true believer. Not much of what Onama believes can be held up and be able to stand the test. He relies on his “caring for the downcast”, as if that was Jesus message to the world...take care of the lost by feeding them and keeping them slaves to poverty.

I think many people who quote scripture have not really ever read it in context, they just have heard the Bible says thus and such. I admit that when I first became hungry to actually read scripture, I found LOTS of things in there were not really what I had been told, and there was stuff that I never knew was there and visa versa!

Black Liberation Theology is a revolutionary Marxist ideology masquerading as religion. In fact, even 'Screwy Louie' Farrakhan's movement subscribes to BLT, as does/did the new and old Black Panther Parties. And, for that matter, did Bill Ayers' Weather Underground. All of these seemingly unrelated things are revolutionary communist in nature. To be more specific, they're Maoist. For all the charming 'details', visit my FR home page. Feel free to link to it to help get the info out to other normal Americans. Actually, I think even the dopiest, most deluded democrat would even be alarmed if they saw this indisputable evidence shoved right in their faces.

Now you've got it! Of course the radical left IS closely allied with the Islamic extremist nutcases.

Amazon Book Review:
"Vastly Illuminating!" September 25, 2004
By Kat Bakhu

"I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air."

August, 2003: Ward Churchill Caught On Tape Advocating Terrorism vs Fellow Americans!

Audio link at Michell Malkin's website (included below)

Question from audience:
You mentioned a little bit ago, "Why did it take a bunch of Arabs to do what you all should have done a long time ago," that's my question.

Churchill: I'm gonna repeat that, tell me if I got that right: Why shouldn't we do something and how do you you move so they don't see you coming.

As to the first part, not a reason in the world that I could see. I can't find a single reason that you shouldn't in a principled way —there may be some practical considerations, such as do you know how (laughter from audience)

—you know, often these things are processes. It's not just an impulse. And certainly it's not just an event.

And the simple answer, although it probably should be more complicated, but I'm not being flip and giving the simple answer, is:
You carry the weapon. That's how they don't see it coming. You're the one...

They talk about "color blind or blind to your color." You said it yourself.

You don't send the Black Liberation Army into Wall Street to conduct an action.

You don't send the American Indian Movement into downtown Seattle to conduct an action.

Who do you send? You. Your beard shaved, your hair cut close, and wearing a banker's suit.

There's probably a whole lot more to it, you know that. But there's where you start. .."

Hey Dr. Prescott! Why did you suddenly have Cal stop reading at Matthew 7:5? Didn't you want him to read verse 6 where Jesus says "Don't cast your pearls before swine"? Or would that have been a little too close a reference to Obama for you?

Seriously, I get tired of hearing you quote "Do not judge..." as though it means "Don't use your brain and come to conclusions." We certainly are to look at the evidence and come to conclusions. That's why Jesus told us not to cast our pearls before swine. If we weren't to make judgements, how are we supposed to know who the swine are?

Not sure what you were referring to but this point is accurate “One cannot deny central tenets of the Christian faith, including the deity and uniqueness of Christ as the sole mediator between God and Man and be a Christian.”

What I don’t get is how Cal knows Obama does not accept Christ as sole mediator. Therefore it is foolish for Cal to go down this path.

“Impossible, actually. To be a Muslim, or a Christian, or a Hindu for that matter, Obama would have to believe in a Power greater than himself. Which, in ObamaLand, would be heresy. Obama reminds me of a well-worn joke we tell around these parts, concerning three storied basketball coaches (one of whom often wore red sweaters). The three coaches end up before the Dreadful Judgement Seat of God. What makes the joke funny at the end is frightening when one puts Obama before the throne, proclaiming, “I am Barack Hussein Obama, and you are sitting in my seat.”

Just a surmise...

If you read the verses in context, they are not prohibitions of judging per se, but of judging hypocritically, i.e. using a standard you would not allow to be applied to yourself, or accusing someone of a sin when you are guilty of a much worse sin.

I as a Baptist have never been cowed as Dr. Prescott says into doing anything that wasn't taught in the bible.

I found some of Dr. Prescott's associations to be odd.

Especially for a man who claims to have Jesus Christ as his personal savior or maybe he has not made that claim.

His association with Americans United would probably be cause to strike his name from the pastors list of places to attend church.

I did not read the article throughly but I doubt he is a Southern Baptist due to his rather snide remarks about fundamentalists.

Prescott makes the following statement “I speak as a member of a large group of Baptists, with organizations in several states, who identify themselves as moderate, Mainstream Baptists. Mainstream Baptists are Baptists who are standing up and facing the fundamentalism that has taken over the Southern Baptist Convention. We educate people about historic Baptist beliefs and convictions and we raise a dissenting voice whenever Southern Baptist leaders fire professors or missionaries and persecute people and churches that refuse to submit to their control.”

Comment:

You may speak for some progressives but many can see that you believe in the murder of the unborn, same sex marriage, and removing all traces of Christianity from the foundation this great country was built on that guarantees you the right to believe in God anyway you want.

“Most Baptists in Texas and Virginia are Mainstream Baptists.”

Comment: People will always fall out of churches if those churches preach the Gospel according to the Old and New Testament.

It's not only the Baptists being taken in by charlatans posing as men representing our lord but rogue priests in many other churches as well such as Catholics, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and many of the charismatics.

It's a shame but thats the way it is when folks start rewriting the bible to suit their greed for money and legitimatizing Satan's work on earth.

This is just my opinion so before some of you Sister Bertha's better than you get your pants in a bunch keep that in mind.
