I should also source the Olbermann show. This is the story, I was there at McCain's town hall event in Denver. I arrived with my 10yo daughter shortly before 10am. This description of events is ridiculous. Let me tell you, they did not screen participants or questions. NO ONE was allowed a sign, even if it said "I heart John McCain". This "sweet" little librarian had to be an agitator who had to have purposely push until she got a ticket.
These people (and they were an organized group), insinuated themselves til they were right next to the door to enter the event. I saw them. I also experienced the courtesy of the McCain campaign staff...my girl was wearing a Hillary T-shirt and we were greeted warmly and treated with the utmost respect.
Sen McCain's staff did not screen attendees, nor did they screen questions. The entire event should still be on news4denver.com (CBS affiliate in Denver). I am so angry about this whole non-story.
I haven't been to FR for quite a while. For honesty's sake, I will say I am an independant...I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary, and for Pres Bush in 2004. I supported Clinton this year, but was frankly delighted that McCain became the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. Meant I would have quite the tough choice in November. After nObama was annointed, it was no contest....McCain will get my vote in November.
He was completely on his game in Denver yesterday, excellent speech, and really great in the Q/A portion. This whole "suppression of free speech" crap is a total fabrication engineered by a lefty group.
Thanks for reading this. Please note and understand there are many independents and Democrats that are supporting McCain this year-because Obama is this country's worst nightmare-and they know that John McCain truly loves his country-and will work hard to get things done. Country before party...that is a huge draw to McCain.
Thank-you.
I would hate to try and dissect your reasoning, but welcome to the fold, even if only for this upcoming election.
A vote for Hillary, Obama or McCain is a vote for a Liberal.
Annie,
Good for you. I’m voting for McCain and if I can be home I’m planning to have my 4 kids and my wife working the polls for him. McCain needs our help. He isn’t my natural choice but neither were Dole, or GW Bush initially. I’ll take a 85-95% conservative any day over a 100% liberal like Obama.
I can dissect my reasoning...I do it too. And I actually agree more with McCain on domestic policy...because I am slightly to the right of center. But, I honestly always respected Clinton..she is a fighter and a known quantity. Note she refused to cave on her vote to authorize the President to engage in Iraq (much to the chagrin of the far left Dems). She is strong on national security, able to reach across the aisle, and more mainstream than the likes of John Kerry (ick).
I’ll vote McCain to stop Obama. Whether I put a bumper sticker on my car or answer countless pleas for cash depends on his selection for VP. A non-RINO will go a long way towards moving my support from lessor of the evils to moderate, if not full, support.

Annie - what a nice lady you are - on your first point, glad to hear that; on your second point, I think (and hope) your’re right, even though the main stream media is showing no evidence of this. I disagree with JSM on several issues, but do believe that he loves this country. He just MUST be darned-near impeccable in his game and I worry about that. Unfortunately, the same genuine, reassuring quality that he has - honesty, ease in speaking off the cuff - is also one that frequently gets him in trouble.
Please don’t blast me, guys - I agree with her, between these two candidates - NO contest as to who’s the worst.
A non-RINO will go a long way towards moving my support from lessor of the evils to moderate, if not full, support.”
That’s the big question, isn’t it?? Perhaps more this year with this candidate than ever before. We should start a poll - what are your thoughts on who would be a good one, the zinger(s) who may clinch it? I think about it a lot.
And a 3rd party vote or no vote is a vote of surrender to our troops fighting a war.
thanks for the report.
Exactly, Mark. These are the same people who wouldn't vote for anything but a "perfect" conservative in '06, and managed to lose Congress for us.
When will they ever realize that even the worst RINO can usually be reasoned with when the going gets rough. The libs? Never.
85 to 90% conservative?Who are you refering to Fred Thompson?
Well, John’s tie/shirt some times clash.........so maybe I’m wrong...(/sarcasm)
My cousin worked for Hillary as a PI back in Arkansas when her husband was governor. She is a crook.
You are so right, blam.
I'll hold my nose and vote for McCain, which I have said I'd never do.
blam, I've said the same thing.
And, like you, I've decided that The New, Improved Black Jesus ( and his spooky zombie camp followers ) is so gawd-awful, that I'll vote for Cap'n Queeg.
But I sure as Hell hate the "choice" I'm being given, so badly, that the national Stupid party will never see a thin dime from me or mine, ever again.
Yes, I'll help individual candidates- but I'm done with the sorry bastards at higher levels.
No more.
And I'm not going to argue with anyone here about it.
McCain is an imperfect candidate, but heaven help us if the other one gets to the White House.
BO goes way beyond liberal (on the days he is liberal). I'm sure you are all aware of his associations (even though he threw them under the bus when they became inconvenient). That doesn't fool me, and I'm sure it doesn't fool any of you.
Over the holiday weekend CNN released a poll indicating that he had lost ground with Clinton supporters who had previously indicated they would vote for him. And Sen Hopey/Changey is the first to go negative in the campaign. I hope that republicans show up for McCain and send Obama back to Chicago.
“And I believe low voter turnout (often seen) illustrates how many believe it just doesn’t matter..same stuff, different day.
McCain is an imperfect candidate, but heaven help us if the other one gets to the White House. “
Annie, first of all, my empathy for your technical problem!!! OMG, can I relate.
about low voter turnout - yes, historically heretofore, particularly amoung youth. However....this year, I fear quite the opposite from all indications, as it relates to Obama devotees.
Second, the irony about McCain (if only all those who truly fear an Obama white house would get it) is that, of ALL the initial candidates that began the republican primary, he’s the one who stands the best, probably only, chance to have a real shot at defeating Obama (if he handles it right and doesn’t totally screw up). The very reason conservatives are unhappy with him is the same reason he just might win enough votes, from enough different factions, to squeak by BHO. On my list of choices, he was not even there. BUT, the thought of BHO as president is so unconscienable and sickening to me that....well, never mind. We have to keep our eye on the prize every bit as much as the other side is doing. And, as I’ve said before, I believe JSM, for all his shortcomings, sincerely loves our country and speaks from the heart. Therefore, I can forgive a lot of things and he’ll likely prove to be better than what we initially thought.
BHO? No contest in terms of character, motives or protection of America.
And a 3rd party vote or no vote is a vote of surrender to our troops fighting a war.”
Mark - yes, yes, yes - this is the bottom line. would you believe I have to “argue” this frequently with friends (and non-friends:-)) to get them to understand this???
Duh. What a no-brainer. And don’t get me started on Bob Barr - another audacious one - WTF is his agenda, anyway? This election will be so close that I pray he won’t cost critical points/percentages.
BO goes way beyond liberal”
That would be one of the understatements of the year! Try marxist, america-hating, ruthless deceptor. I still can’t believe that we’re living in a world where such a creature actually has a strong shot at the white house.
sorry for the strong language.
Absolutely McCain was the best candidate to have a chance against Obama. I think it’s a good sign he is polling so well (always nipping at Obama’s heels). My personal belief is that Obama is polling better than he will actually do. This happened several times during the primary season (and it was always fun to watch the shills at MSNBO look bewildered and upset..especially when Clinton pulled one out).
I have been on the phone with my ISP a couple times, supposedly a service person will show up eventually. It’s really annoying, to say the least.
No worries about the language, it’s an accurate description.
As for the “new” voters he has supposedly brought in, I think the shiny new feeling is wearing off, and I’d be amazed if half of them make the effort in November. Older voters are much more reliable historically.
Older voters are much more reliable historically.”
Annie, once again, thanks. Interesting you say the above, because I was talking to my parents just a few weeks ago on the seeming “young voter” phenomena, and my mom just said “we old folks will turn out in record numbers this year to vote, also”.
Reassured me quite a bit. And I NEVER underestimate older people - quiet but powerful :-))))))))
My personal belief is that Obama is polling better than he will actually do.”
Annie, first of all, continued good luck with with isp/tech problem!!! I so sympathize, been there more than once.
Yes, exactly, about the polls and Obama. I remember this from the primaries, and the MSM was often so “puzzled”. Well, the fact is, that EVEN in telephone polls (where people are anonymous), they were so paranoid about being Politically Incorrect, many lied about voting for BHO when they had no intention of doing so!!! Face to face polls - not EVEN accurate, therefore. :-)))))
So, I keep reassuring myself (and friends) that what we hear in the media is NOT the true story. In fact, I was impressed with your initial posting here, after you’d been gone for so long, as to where “real people” actually are coming from, some dems, independents, etc. - so, more and more, I think it may just turn out alright. I was pretty scared for a time, but now - not so much. Still, JS McCain had better take the gloves off before long.
and it was always fun to watch the shills at MSNBO”
BTW - the other moniker for that network is PMSNBC :-)))))
To wit, Chrissie Matthews (who’s had a major man-crush on BHO for months) - and don’t get me started on Keith Olbermann, the hate-monger.
Sorry. The only good thing that EVER came out of msnbc was Tim Russert - god love him and god rest his soul.
