Most Americans agree that the price of oil has skyrocketed! It is at a point where the average citizen has no choice but to incur the rise in price in their pocketbook, because for most of us our car is essential to our livelihood and heating in the wintertime is a must!
I have no doubt that great minds will find viable, alternative sources of energy in the future, and concede it is well worth the effort. We should reject, however, the idea that gas and oil is our enemy, and exploit the oil off and on American shores as soon as possible. Instead of paying foreign and sometimes rogue governments to import oil, we could invest those same funds in American companies and workers, and at the same time invest in alternative sources of energy.

Keep our money home and make plans to use every means of energy that we can. Good article.
I can control the car thing a bit...But winter...in NY...It’s gonna take my food money.
Which Americans disagree?
Now keep in mind sustained oil prices over time will wreck havoc on our economy since we import most of our oil. Sustained energy prices cause inflation on every thing. Furthermore, we do not have any immediate alternatives that can be main stream, thus we must drill now.
Now it looks like Iran can destroy our stock market by firing off some missiles every day. Every time this happens. Thus the price of crude goes up.
The way I see it we have no alternative but to drill here and now. We also need to get back to coal, and nuclear power too.
But the dems tell us that we don’t need more oil, we need alternatives like solar and wind (as if either of those will power an auto). Whatever happens we are wedded to oil for another 20 years. We have some 200 million autos and trucks in service that run on gasoline or diesel. The current fleet of autos should be able to be fitted with affordable devices or systems to run on whatever replaces oil. Such a development would cut the legs out from under freedom’s enemy nations.
Oil and gas is a commodity we need, at least for now. Real people invest in oil, with pensions and private investors financing the industry. Inflation pricing should be better than the current volatile market.
Mega-rich oil speculators. Maybe they'd agree that the price of oil has gone up, but “skyrocketed” no way!
The answer is oil shale. The US consumes 20 million barrels of oil a day. With the PROVEN reserves of oil shale entirely within the US, we have 270 YEARS of 100% of our oil consumption, sitting right there in oil shale.
And it’s economical to extract at under $50 per barrel.
The US could start oil flowing from shale within 3 years, and we could get 50% of our total oil consumption needs from shale within 10 years. Given that we still produce 40% of our needs domestically, within 10 years we would only need to buy 10% of our total oil consumption, and Canada would nicely cover that.
Oil shale could make the US completely energy independent, if we just would go and tap it. ANWR? Offshore? Maybe 10% of what we have in the oil shale reserves. THAT should be the focus, that’s the big brass ring we should reach for.
PING
Drill Here - Drill Now!!
I viewed a piece on the business channel this morning that was very interesting.
Some “expert” stated that removing oil from the outer continental shelf would take between 1 and 6 years since refining equipment is already set up in the gulf that could be tapped into. He also talked about wind solar etc, but the oil thing really got my attention.
AS LITTLE AS 1 YEAR!!
Keep on congress
drill here and drill now
I dont care if oil makes me ill
DRILL DRILL DRILL (yes I am screaming)
The sooner we become more energy independent the better
Imanutjob and all his threats
Rising tensions in the mideast
Doesnt seem like any further discussion on the matter is needed.
