After reading the comments on The Lesser of Two Evils I realized most of them could be divided into two groups:
The Strugglers and The Settlers.
Good.
This perfectly describes the conditions before and after the founding of America. The only problem in this case is that the settlers of that time came after the struggle, not before.
As long as there have been elections there have been those making the claim in one form or the other that, this is the most pivotal election in history. Strangely enough, they were probably all correct!
Each time we have the opportunity to vote in this country we are one mile further down the road that is the Grand Experiment, put in place by the Founding Fathers. And each mile we walk we are, whether we like it or not, one step closer to the end of the Experiment. They were not under the delusion that it would last forever, they just shared a dream, developed a plan, planted a seed, and died praying; yes, praying to God, that it would see some success.
If these men were alive to see what has become of their God-inspired plan through these last two hundred and thirty plus years, I believe they would be proud and humbled by what their dreams gave birth to and not the least surprised at the mighty turbulence along the way.
The very rights penned on our behalf by these same men were meant to prepare us for the thing they feared most: an out-of-control and oppressive government. They saw what happened in Great Britain and didnt want to see the same thing happen in the States. And when they fought the British on their own shores they were victorious because of those same freedoms we enjoy today, granted not by those men or even the Supreme Court, but, in their own words, by our Creator.
America was not formed by a group of appeasers looking to conform to the status quo or settle for second best. It was formed by fellow strugglers in the fight. It was formed by men with wildly varying personalities, backgrounds and levels of education with one common purpose: Live free or die!
Dont be fearful that you struggle when choosing the leader of the United States of America. Be fearful when you find the choice too simple.
I do not believe it is my job to tell anyone what to believe or who to vote for. Im simply trying to say with all the eloquence and forcefulness I can muster considering my modest education:
Believe in the right Stand for the truth And, above all
FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE!
And please, please; lets save the settling for after the struggle.
