Pelosi, Reid and Obama's 68 Million Acre Joke!
PDOP ^ | 07/16/2008 | Jarid Brown

Posted on 07/16/2008 6:33:55 AM PDT by Jabrown

...Senator Reid and House Speaker Pelosi have both stated that they will not allow drilling legislation to proceed, although they are both aware that the legislation now has enough support to pass both houses. Senator Reid yesterday acknowledged that only 80% of the Senatorial Democratic Caucus opposed lifting the moratorium. If that were the case, then that would mean that the legislation would have close to the 60 votes needed to prevent a filibuster.

The argument of Reid, Pelosi, Obama and several other congressional leaders has shifted in the past few weeks from an attitude that we cannot drill to an attitude that ...

If we use the very same extrapolation, we can estimate that the 9.4 billion acres of the currently non-producing moon orbiting our earth could produce an additional 654 million barrels each day. That would supply America’s total annual demand in less than 12 days (but the pipeline construction would be a bear).

IF McCain and the gop would jump on this issue, the election would be over. Oil fell yesterday by 6 dollars based on Bush’s lifting of the ban. If congress actually lifted the ban, speculation would plumet and the price of crude would drop, perhaps another 10 or 15 dollars.

I can’t be bothered with this because I am trying to extract blood from a turnip right now. When I get through with that I have to spin some hay into gold.

I submitted an email to Pelosi at this email address yesterday and got an eventual bounce-back indicating an inability to deliver. Either they are blocking emails or they are overwhelmed.

They don’t want to hear from the “masses”...The dirty, unwashed “masses”....They know what’s best for all us “little people”....Most of Congress (both parties) want to pat us on the head and tell us to be quiet and let the “smart people” do “what’s best” for us...

Either they are blocking emails or they are overwhelmed.

It's probably a combination of BOTH!!!

But, Pelosi won't allow facts or the opinions of her employers (us!) to get in the way of a great opportunity to granstand and obstruct in order to keep her agenda alive.

Shades of tiny tommy daschle!

The Email Form at Politically Drunks site will automatically send emails to dozens of congressional leaders including all three of pelosi’s email addresses. We are adding more direct email addresses we obtained yesterday. Since launching the initiative yesterday our software has generated over 13,000 emails to capitol hill. Spread the word.

Since most Democrats are realizing their own constituents are getting upset at the lack of vote, when will they get Pelosi and Reid out of there for blocking it coming to a vote in the first place?

They won’t, it’s unfortunate but Hillary Clinton supporters seem to be the only Democrats who see the sham that Pelosi, Reid, and Obama are. If Obama changes his position, he will screw himself with the radical left he is part of, but it will force Pelosi and Reid to call a vote. That is not likely to happen. The fact is that a vast majority of the moderate democrats are more than willing to keep their mouths shut and walk the party line that if only focused on one issue: Power!

Unfortunately, it may take $5 or $6 a gallon gas before these morons realize that their jobs are in jeopardy and before the public decides to actually stand up for itself.

This works also.

What we need is some hard data on what is really going on in the petroleum business so I’ll help out with a statistic that the petroleum industry uses called “Rig Count”. That is just the number of oil and natural gas drilling rigs that are active at any one time. A company named Baker-Hughes keeps track of the rigs and you can find the rig count data at the Baker-Hughes website.

Here is the link: Rig Count at Baker-Hughes

If you check the link you will see that the current rig count is 1922, up 1 from last week and up by 131 from a year ago.

Baker-Hughes also provides historical data on the same web page. One of the entries is an Excel spreadsheet summarizing the rig count from 1990 to 2008 by the week. Take a look at the chart below which summarizes the data. It shows the average number of rigs operating in the Continental U.S. for the years 1990 to 2007.

What you see here is that the number of rigs drilling in the Continental United States was pretty much in the 700 to 1000 range for most of the period from 1990-2003 and then began increasing. Now this could be because petroleum prices started to rise or it could be that we had George Bush as president and he managed to cut some of the red tape. In all likelihood it is a combination of those two factors.

In any case, the chart puts a lie to Dems point that the oil industry is sitting on their hands. They currently have more operational rigs than at any time in the last 18 years. In fact you have to go back 23 years to 1985 to see higher rig count than we have today.

So I conclude that the Dems are intentionally lying about the current effort by the oil companies to explore for oil on those 68,000 acres that they keep talking about all the time.

What would be nice is if we had data on the likelihood of finding oil on those acres. I'm sure that some of it is not worth exploring at all but some hard statistics would help.

You are right. But by then the America we once knew will no longer exist and a return to the depression era will be on us. Much crying by the mass of lame cult followers, but here we would be.

I just called Harry’s office and said, “I understand after reading on a website that they are taking donations for a hearing aid for Harry.”
He told me he is unfamilar with that and could I please hold, so I waited and waited and he came back and said, “I checked around the office and no one is familar with that” and maybe I should check out Harry’s website to check it out”.

Can you believe this, they are all air heads.
Everyone call and say you want to donate for Harry’s hearing aids.
If Harry could play the pajama game with us, we can certainly play the hearing aid game with him.
Maybe he will get the message.

Can you imagine if hundreds of people called.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think the president has too much power? How about a buffoon like Dingy Reid single handedly thwarting the will of the people by sticking not taking action?

Has anyone ever asked a Democrat why oil companies won't drill on this land?  Has any Democrat given a reason that makes sense?  Do oil companies prefer to drill using platforms that cost $300,000 per day?  Do oil companies not want more oil to sell at 140 per barrel?
I can think of no logical reason for oil companies not drilling on this 68 million acres other than there is no oil on this land.

Which of these oil drilling rigs looks the most expensive to run?

You are right, basic economics has dictated the the oil companies drill on the land that contains the largest reserves that are easiest to extract. Hellllooo!

Stories now surfacing that Pelosi is trying to garner enough support among her own party to revive the “Use It Or Lose It Bill”. We will have a story on the hidden dangers of that bill tomorrow. Anyways, we are adding around 1 dozen more addresses to our email form on the site. Hee Hee! Be sure to pass on the link.

If Congress lifts the ban oil will drop back to the $58 per barrel shown in that report they keep referring to.

But they won't.

That's because they are too coked up and stupid to even think about this.

Great article.

I posted this on another website, and the response from liberals was that the president of the institutes for energy research was the public relations director for Ken Lay. Never dispute the facts, just the messenger.

AAPG: 'Use it or lose it' bill could be harmful
American Association of Petroleum Geologists say...

Nick Snow
Washington Editor

WASHINGTON, DC, June 23 -- Enactment of legislation to compel federal oil and gas lessees to develop their blocks could increase instead of reduce prices, the president of a leading association of energy professionals warned US House leaders.

"US consumers are burdened by high crude oil prices. Conservation and efficiency improvements are necessary responses, but equally important is increasing long-term supply from stable parts of the world, such as our very own federal lands and Outer Continental Shelf," said American Association of Petroleum Geologists head Willard R. (Will) Green.

"As Congress considers measures to deal with high crude oil prices, I urge caution. Policies that increase exploration costs, decrease the available time to properly evaluate leases, and restrict access to federal lands and the Outer Continental Shelf do not provide the American people with short-term relief from high prices and undermine the goal of increasing stable long-term supplies," he said in a June 23 letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.), and Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

The letter is significant because AAPG and its leaders rarely take public positions on political issues. It is an apparent response to H.R. 6251, which House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick J. Rahall (D-W.Va.) introduced on June 12. Formally called the Responsible Federal Oil and Gas Lease Act of 2008, the legislation has become known as the "Use it or lose it" bill because it would require federal oil and gas leaseholders to promptly develop or relinquish their leases. Republicans are concerned that it could reach the House floor this week without hearings or a markup.
