California Governor Opposes Off-Shore Drilling
AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 13 July 2008 | John Semmens

Posted on 07/16/2008 3:12:59 PM PDT by John Semmens

California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) called drilling for more oil “too simple a solution.” “If we make fuel cheaper again, people won’t have to give up their bad habits,” Schwarzenegger claimed. “Besides, many important people own beach-front property in California. Even the slightest threat to the value of these properties would be intolerable. This is especially so if the reason is to postpone a much needed change in the way ordinary people live and travel.”

The Governor proposed, instead, that California voters approve a $10 billion bond as a “down payment” on a $40 billion plan to construct high-speed passenger rail. “They have these trains and such things in Europe,” he said. “Travel there is much more orderly and moderate. There is much less ‘wanderlust’ than there is here. Attitudes are more civilized. We have a lot to learn from them.”

“California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) called drilling for more oil ‘too simple a solution.’”

Schwarzenegger was too simple a solution. More anti-drilling sentiment. Joy.

A new law should be passed stating that all persons who wish to be elected to office must be natural born citizens of the United States.

Bye, Arnold

This from the Governor of what is probably the single largest oil consuming state on the planet on a per capita basis.

What a maroon, as a famous real Californian used to say.

Sometimes the AZConservative is satire, sometimes it’s not. But it’s always so close to the truth it’s hard to tell.

Sorry, Arnie. National emergency. This is a situation where I’m not going to defend states’ rights. If the state government won’t let drilling happen, it should be overruled by the federal government. If the federal government won’t allow drilling, it should be ignored by the state.

Building a Choo Choo train isn’t too simple. They work in Europe and Japan since the population densities make sense. Out west they are a waste of money.Sometimes the best solutions is the simplest.

Hey CA, if you like $5/gal, Thank the Gumminator.

California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (RINO)...

Sure would be nice if Ahnold and his liberal cronies would follow the will of the people instead of those "many important people (who)own beach-front property in California."

My wife, kids and grand-kids think I'm a pretty important person and Ahnold doesn't cow-tow to me. None of us would likely board one of those high-speed trains prefering to drive our evil SUV's with some lower priced fuel.

Besides, It would take the State more time to build the rail-line than it would to complete drilling rigs, platforms and new refineries.

AHHnald, what is this “bad habits” stuff?? Bad Habits? So, like, driving to work is a “bad habit”? Heating our homes is a “bad habit”?

Sheesh, I think AHHnald may be drinking that Kool-aid again.

That Austrian POS hasn't been in this country let alone California to even know the states history.

At this point I'm so tired of hearing politicians and environmentalists mouthing off about how drilling would pollute our beaches I wish that the oil rigs in the Channel Islands, Seal Beach, and the oil island @ Long beach were never pit there.

Then all these people would be able to go to the beach and be covered with tar like it was before the oil rigs!

Schwarzenegger takes a private jet from Sacramento to Santa Monica Airport every day after work. Last thing I heard he also drives a Hummer.

He ran as a conservative Republican and now is trying to serve in Obama’s Cabinet. I think the man is so stupid, he doesn’t have a consistent set of principles, other than loving the adulation of the media.

There needs to be a satire tag on these types of articles. I had to look at the original source before posting something foolish, like er ah some other people. Ack.

Not to take a shot at my FRiends here, but I’m a little shocked how often these article draw critical responses. I get them right off the bat. “important people” was the clue
