The Bush Administrations sudden willingness to engage Iran in direct diplomatic talks even as Tehran presses ahead with its nuclear program is the source of much consternation in Jerusalem.
Earlier this week, Washington announced that its third highest diplomat, Undersecretary of State William Burns, would join upcoming negotiations with Iranian nuclear negotiators. The US had previously refused to talk directly with Iran until the latter agreed to halt its uranium enrichment efforts.

Well, I guess that about evens the score. We're not too happy with trading five convicted terrorists for the remains of two soldiers.
Seems to me both actions are ill-advised.
It’s hard _not_ to say that the Lebanese / Iranians are winning.
They are winning flat out across Europe, the pacific islands, Canada and now are making Israel and America show it’s belly.
This IS a war, people. And we’re not doing too good.
The Mylanta drinkers at the White House are winning the day.
You give Bush far too much credit. I’m with Brian Fitzgerald in the post right above your’s.
This diplomatic action has been in the works for months. It is not an about face.
That’s what Israel gets for thinking a foreign country has any obligation to defend it.
