anyone whos heard Allen West speak live is sure of one thing: Here stands the next Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, al-Jazeera has realized this as well.
Two nights ago the West campaign received an interesting phone call. A national TV network wanted to interview the candidate that very night at 9, with no time to spare. The network? You guessed it, al-Jazeera.
When asked the details of the interview, the station coordinator said well, we need Wests home address and well pick him up and take him to the interview tonight (essentially to an undisclosed location). At this point West told his communications director to emphatically pass up the opportunity. Its a good thing he did, as he may have become a propaganda piece, arranged by the network most famous for showing video statements of terrorists and the like.

Oh brother, break out the foil hats.
Allen West ping!
would have made a nice ‘setup’ opportunity- if it was bad guys they could be caught red-handed
It’s actually a true and verified story that is well known to all Republicans in Broward.
gag me with a maggot....how dare to disgust the name of RR with a post like this. you should be banned
I don’t think he wanted to bait them more than they already were. It could have been some crazy middle east interns who are here to cause problems. It obviously wasn’t an “editorial decision,” but that network does hire young middle easterners and some of them are obviously in line with the network that shows terrorist messages and beheadings.
See post 5 and have a nice day
I don’t know anything about this candidate, but I can tell you after 20 years of politics I recognize this kind of article. Some candidate comes along and a handful of people develop a quasi-cult following because they think that an articulate speaker is somehow something new. (Ron Paul is an extreme example)
Good luck with the campaign and I hope he wins, but please lighten up on the superlatives next time.

THE LOWDOWN ...
... New on this year’s campaign trail: the politician who refuses free TV time. Congressional hopeful Allen West, a veteran who served in Afghanistan and is taking on incumbent Ron Klein, was invited on a news show the other night and nixed the appearance. Why? The former U.S. Army lieutenant colonel won’t appear on the Arab network Al-Jazeera. “They wanted to pick him up in a car and take him somewhere for a live interview,” said his campaign manager, Donna Brosemer. “There’s no way I’ll let him in a car with strangers from Al-Jazeera. Plus, how would we explain his appearance to Jewish voters?” ... Tennisman Mardy Fish is planning a September wedding in Vero Beach, where his parents live, to stunner Stacey Gardner, a lawyer and model on NBC’s Deal or No Deal. ... There probably won’t be too many paparazzi along the runways at this weekend’s big-deal Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami Beach. I’m told organizers are charging $125 to members of the press who want to attend. ...

He is quite unique. The difference is that he talks common sense, not wacked out stuff that caters to idiots.
It’s not the candidate we’re getting enthralled with. It’s the fact that the GOP is finally running an articulate and sincere candidate who can present his views effectively.
Interesting. Never heard of him, why is this in the Canada Free Press?
Whoa!!!
CFP has mostly US columnists (including this one). It’s the 47th most read conservative site with 60% US readership(saw the source once but forget where, did see the alexa.com ranking in top 100,000 of all websites worldwide, which correlates with the above).
I do know a great deal about this candidate...and I am not in FL or anykind of cult....
Allen West is a great candidate...solid guy and has a chance to take back a seat from the dems.
I know we are all getting a little jaded and disenchanted, but let’s not lump everything in the Paulian universe just because folks get excited. We want them to get excited about these local races...it is what we need to survive and thrive and we need these folks in DC to counter whatever form of lib gets in the WH under either R or D
Congratulations to Mardy and Stacey on their planned nuptials!
Oh, I don't know. This may be one candidate who deserves them.
See posts 5 and 10 (and 11)
I did. I replied to post 10.
Well we all know what happen when Danny Pearl took some folks up for an exculsive interview.
Oh - :)
Exactly. That’s why he refused. It would have been a very dumb move for them, but fanatics often do stupid things.
“Disgust”?
Learn English. It will help you when you grow up.
Skip Congress!
Allen West for V.P. Let him and absorb and learn and get good exposure for eight years, and then take the White House in January, 2017.
Thanks for the ping!!!
Intriguing article. The Lt. Col. must have really stepped on some toes when he was fighting for our country
overseas.
I certainly hope he wins this race. Unlike some, before judging this candidate, I actually read a lot about him (THANKS TO FOX!!!!) and researched him and liked what I saw, read and heard. It does not bode well for the Republican party if whenever people find a candidate to get excited about others assume they must be “quasi-cult” like. I think that says something about the state of the Republican party that people have become that disillusioned with it that they expect apathy from Republicans re:candidates.
pingo

...and she's a lawyer to boot? Holy Carp!
I'll let one of the soldiers serving under him in Iraq give you an idea of what Lt. Col. Allen West is all about:
SSG Josh Turner Nov 29, 2007 SIR, YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME, MY NAME IS JOSHUA TURNER. I WAS IN 2/20 WHEN YOU WERE IN COMMAND AND DEPLOYED WITH YOU IN 2003. I WAS A SPC AT THE TIME, I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DID IN IRAQ TO SECURE THE SAFETY FOR US AND TO STAND UP FOR US SOLDIERS. SIR, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN SAY TO RELAY THE DEEP FEELING OF GRATITUDE I HAVE FOR YOU AND YOUR ACTIONS. I HOLD YOU EXTREMELY HIGH IN REGARDS TO ALL THE COMMANDERS THAT I HAVE SERVED WITH. SIR, YOU ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST REALISTIC, DOWN TO EARTH, CARING, PASSIONATE COMMANDER THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE WITH. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE SACRIFICE THAT YOU MADE FOR US. SSG TURNER, JOSH "YOU DO NOT NEED TO EXCERT FORCE TO SHOW POWER"
And I'll add one more.... Vets for Freedom: As a proud Army veteran of Iraq, I am humbled to speak on behalf of over 25,000 members of Vets for Freedom in offering our strong endorsement of Allen West for United States Congress,â said Vets for Freedom Co-Chairman, David Bellavia. "Few people know true commitment like those who lead men under the fires of battle. Allen West is man who has never taken the easy way out. He does what is right because it is right. And if my two sons were to go to war, I would want a man of Allen West's character and dedication to lead them.â Bellavia continued, âThis is an American who puts patriotism over party - a man who places honor over personal privilege. Allen West is a true American patriot and proud defender of God, Country and Family. Washington needs more men like Allen West, and I am proud to offer the support of Vets for Freedom. I know leadership... there are men who talk like Allen West... and then there is Allen West."
Al Jazeera came to B’ham, AL about 3 weeks ago to do a story on housing or some such and asked to interview the Democrat mayor...they were going to pick him up as well and carry him to the location. He told them “I’m not doing an interview with terrorist sympathizers that show beheadings on their news.” He refused to meet with them. Don’t care for the mayor, but I was cheering him for this. I’m not sure if AJ were trying to kidnap West though, because I think it is their MO to pick up the interviewee and carry them to their location. Weird...
nice reply...maybe you should be banned
Thanx for the ping Foxie.
It seems Col. West is irritating someone - that means he is one the right path ;)
Langford is surely a fool (and a crook) but you have to give him some props for that one! Being an Alabamian in exile now, I don’t get to hear about all his shenanigans (which is more times than not, a blessing).
“Skip Congress!”
Thats what I have said. Why get into the cesspool? How many times have we seen well intentioned pols get corrupted just after a few years dealing with the filth in congress. However, I think his character could overcome it.
He will have much more all-around impact at Veep. As for experience, he is infinitely more qualified than the community ORGANizer, the prophet Nobama.
OH MY!!!!
How about the nearest American Legion or VFW hall and invite Rolling Thunder? Al-Jazeera might not be willing to do the interview.
Careful there hotshot - your character is showing.
There is no cult following Col. West, he speaks of conservative values in common sense terms, he is conservative and he has supporters.
If you had any experience in Florida politics you would know that common sense conservative candidates are rare and when they come along most are shut down very quickly by the status quo.

Thanx for the ping...... excellent article!!
I couldn’t have said it any better!!
I think there’s a tendency for people to disregard anyone that doesn’t receive national attention: thus, only cult like followers support a candidate that the MSM ignore. So many “conservatives” hate how the MSM are in the tank for marxists.... but they use the MSM as a litmus test as to how good a conservative candidate is.
It’s amazing how some of those same people think they have the exclusive rights on the name, legacy, usage, etc. of President Ronald Reagan, whom of they have enshrined and only they are fit to make comparisons of him against other people.
I am so frustrated with the followers in the Republican party; lemmings, the whole lot of them are. Here is someone who has sacraficed for our country and when I see him being disrespected by those who have done nothing more than read the excerpt of this article and base all their opinions on that, it makes me glad to be an independent individual who does not need to be told which flavor of Kool-Aid (or Flav-R-Aid) to drink today.
I’m just glad that there are conservatives out there who have good chances of winning congressional seats despite the gloomy outlook by RINOs for RINOs.
I’m thinking it’s a staffer at Al jazee, probably from the Mideast who’s here and wants to capture a US politician of any kind to instill fear in others. It would obviously backfire on them big time, but that may not be enough to stop a fanatic. Thanks so much for alerting us to the Birmingham story, as that confirms the problem.
Just to be fair, West didn’t claim he was going to be kidnapped. That’s the guy who wrote the article.
West just didn’t want to be driven off with strangers to some unknown location, OR to appear on Al Jazerra network.
That is a rational position to take. The “reporter” is the one who took that to mean it was a kidnapping plot.
1) CFP has 90% US writers, as is the case with this column
2) See posts 5, 10 and 11.
3) For everyone’s sake, can you tone it down a bit? Just a polite request.
I appreciate your infatuation with this person, but this is tin-foil-hat material. Also, bringing up the name, “Ronald Reagan,” as a comparison is just plain wrong. ‘nuf said on this subject.
It is your knowledge of this man that appears to be "sketchy," and taking umbrage over the West comparison to Ronald Reagan's ability to communicate conservative principles without any regrets, is ridiculous. You and others seem to know absolutely nothing about this man, yet scoff at comparisons, as if you do know him, simply because you know Reagan, and it's impossible for any other conservative to unashamedly preach conservative values, the way Reagan did. There is nothing "wrong" with comparing West's brand of conservatism to Reagan's, except to people that know absolutely nothing about West, and believe that since they know nothing about him, well then naturally, the comparison is just "wrong."
As for the "tin foil hat" stuff, if you want to ride off with people claiming to be Al-jazeera operatives to do an interview at an undisclosed location after they pick you up at your home address, be my guest. There was probably no evil intended, and the author might have jumped to a conclusion about that one part of her story, but that doesn't take away from Allen West's fantastic ability to communicate genuine conservative principles without worrying about what a bunch of RINOS think.
As for your tagline, I find it ironic. I assume that you're saying "we're so screwed" because there are no true conservatives running for President, and none with any nuts in Congress willing to take a stand, and yet you're busily slamming a true conservative that is trying to defeat a lib-Dem in Florida, simply because his brand of conservatism reminds some people of Reagan and they have the nerve to say so, and you worship Reagan to such a degree that any comparisons to him is sacriledge to you. Great.
