PDOP Guest Post: ...Tom Daschle said, on June 22nd, on Fox News Sunday that we would have no oil until 2030. Is he is actually stating that it would take 22 years to find oil and drill for it? Just last week I was hearing ten years to bring oil to the pumps as gasoline....These sides all seem to feel that energy from renewable or from depleting resources is an all or nothing proposition. Here are some basics to consider to ease the frustration:

This argument that the oil we drill for won't be available for years and years to come shows precisely why the Dems should never be allowed to control the economy. They have no idea of how the market works. Just a few days ago, President Bush lifted the ban on offshore drilling. Within minutes of his announcement, the price of a barrel of oil dropped nine dollars, the largest drop in oil prices in nearly 20 years. Since then, oil prices have dropped nearly $15 dollars and not a single drop of new oil has hit the market.

All the US has to do to bring down the price of gasoline is get serious about taping our own resources and finding alternative energy sources. If OPEC, and the market, saw a resolve on the part of the US to do this, oil prices would free fall. They don't want to lose their cash cow. If oil goes the way of the buggy whip and horse and carriage, most OPEC countries will be left destitute because it is their ONLY export. Dems just don't grasp this. Worse, some do and are protecting their ideological pals from economic ruin at our peril.

The only way it would take an oil company 20 years to get the ANWR to start producing is if the entire company was run by Democrats and liberals. Otherwise, Daschle is just flapping is jaw.

But if we could just have 1/10 of New Mexico covered with algae ponds bio oil would flood the market next year! Or fermenting switch grass for alcohol. Or something, anything but crude from the ground! , ahhh...right.

Twenty years ago I worked with a woman who wined and bitched constantly that the men in the office were making 5 times what she was simply because they had a college degree and she did not.

And, today, she is STILL complaining.....and she still has no degree.

My point ??? I think you get my point.....
