I heard a great local radio host make a point that if Bush had been President in the 1930s and applied his philosophy on Iraq towards Germany World War 2 would have been a much smaller war and earlier.

Yes, that is probably true. Definitely would have nothing to do with Obama's politics. JFK is rolling over in his grave over what the Democrat Party has turned into. Of course JFK gave us LBJ, so JFK is partly responsible for it.

People have historically come to this country to get out of Europe. Why are we looking to them for advice on leadership? Many of our ancestors came here because they were tired of European “leaders” kicking their butts.

> What’s funny is the truth is JFK was more conservative than McCain!

(BIG GRIN!) I was trying to figure out “in what ways is Obama similar to JFK?”

1) Is he Irish? NO
2) Is he Catholic? Hell no
3) Is he a Philanderer? Not that we know of
4) Is he an Establishment Yankee? Hell no
5) Is he a war hero? Hell no — he is a War Wimp
6) Did he sleep with Marilyn Monroe? No, but Marilyn Manson? dunno.
7) Underworld connections? Probably...

...and then I start to run out of gas. On what basis, then, is he being touted as the next JFK? If the only reason is #6 above, that is nothing for him to be proud of.

> Is there Hussein mania in New Zealand as well?

Yup, and it is sickening. There was a poll in one of our MSM papers a couple months back: “Who will be the next President of the United States? Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton?”

I don’t think either of the Democrat candidates could buy Bad Press here. Obama in particular. McCain? Who’s he? Thompson? Huckabee? Paul? Heck, we all know that everyone in America hates George Bush: nobody even VOTED for Bush and he still stole the Presidency!

For the most part the MSM is an organ of the Left here. Few people in NZ seem to care what goes on in the US (this would include most “Conservatives). Those who do care seem to favor Obama.

And here we are, in NZ, about to throw Helen Clark out and elect a Conservative government!

A good gauge of NZ Thought Leadership on US Politics is my Mother-in-Law:

My Mother-in-Law likes Obama because “he’s black, articulate, and handsome.” And she likes Hillary because “she’s put up with alot from Bill, and Chelsea is so nice, they deserve another run at the White House. And Bill was always charming...”

She dislikes McCain because of that off-color joke about Janet Reno being Chelsea’s father.

And my Mother-in-Law is an intelligent, articulate and well-educated woman, who is otherwise very politically tuned-in and otherwise a Conservative!

Go figure.

To me it demonstrates thoroughly that the Liberals have done a much, much, much better job of capturing the media and getting their messages out: domestically and especially overseas. For many, many years: probably ever since George Bush Sr’s administration, maybe even so long ago as Reagan.

Europeans were always suckers for cults. I remember reading about the ecstatic reactions of those who had witnessed the Nuremberg rallies (not only Germans).

This just might be the week that he loses this election. I have a feeling that the gigantic media and Euro 24/7, over-the-top lovefest that we’re about to witness is going to disgust many independents and moderates, if not scare the living crap out of them.

O’Bama is hardly a JFK. He is young, but not that young. His wife is charming and stylish, but even with the $600 earrings not as charming and stylish as Jackie. JFK played football not basketball. O’Bama does not know what a PT boat might be. O’Bama would not have Jerome Weissner on his 600 man advisory committee. JFK did not bombard us with $%#^ every %$#% day.

I wonder why the media is allowed to get away with this.

They don’t breathlessly cover McCain’s trips to see the troops. Of course McCain doesn’t make it a huge stunt with much advance notice. He just goes.

Maybe because I live in California, but boy is there a lot of Obamamania around. It scares me.

After McCain got the nomination, I said I wouldn’t vote for him. However, I really thought Hillary was going to get the nomination. I don’t see much difference between McCain and Hillary. I could easily sit out the election.

However, with Obama I think I’m going to have to vote for McCain. Obama is just tooooo scary to be president.

They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it from a legal perspective, but ultimately, I do have faith that the political middle can see what’s happening here. In fact, I think that’s why Obama is struggling with independents and is virtually tied with McCain among that group. Many of them can already see through his and the media’s BS.

If they go over the top here, and I believe they will, I think it could be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel’s back.

> Europeans were always suckers for cults.

Jonestown, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Rev Moon, Hare Krshnas, Church of Scientology (to name but a few) all find fertile soil in the US.

I don’t think it’s the cult thing with Europeans. It occurs to me that they are more like petulant spoiled brats that do not like doing what was good for them, even if it ultimately costs them in the long run.

I feel for you. I live in an area of Arkansas that would have been Hillary country had she won the nomination. Thankfully, even though its a Dem area, they’re quite conservative for Dems and they’re not buying Obama’s bull around here as far as I can tell.

The Dem usually wins 2-1 in this county and the surrounding area, but I fully expect Obama to lose here this fall.

My main experience with Obamamania has been here on the internet and yeah, it IS scary how these people are acting. They’re literally worshipping the guy.
