Obama has itchy trigger finger for declaring American defeat

In the Summer of 1864, just about 9 months before the Union's victory in the Civil War, 7,000 Union men were lost in twenty minutes in Cold Harbor, Virginia. In 1940 in World War II, after the Fall of France, Britain stood virtually alone against Nazi tyranny.

1942 was an extremely bleak year for America in World War II, as the Japanese took over much of the Pacific, before we turned the tide at Midway.

During these wars, there were people who thought the fight just wasn't worth it. What would the world look like today if these people had prevailed?

Well, as to World War II, the Third Reich might still be reigning in Germany and in large parts of Western, Central and Eastern Europe. God knows what additional havoc Imperial Japan might have caused had we not defeated them.

If the Union side would have buckled and simply allowed the South to keep the South, the United States would not exist today in any form that would be reconizable to the modern American.

This is what is so troubling about Obama's opposition to The Surge. Weak-kneed Neville Chamberlain styple "peace for our time" appeasement is a recipe for death and destruction.

Obama wanted to retreat and leave the field to the terrorists and insurgents in Iraq, which would have turned Iraq into a launching pad for terrorism against the U.S., Israel, and all of the west, much like Afghanistan was.

As was the case in the Civil War and World War II, with The Surge the right side prevailed in the domestic argument over whether the war should continue and in fact be won by the forces of good, notwithstanding Obama's best efforts to scuttle it.

With Obama's record of appeasement, if he is elected president and commander-in-chief, it is hard to imagine that we will be so fortunate the next time. The potential consequences to America, and the rest of the world, are enough to give me night sweats.

This tells it like it is. We came so close to defeat, at times, in WWII that it's hard to believe now. There had to be a higher power on our side.

Welcome to FR, Not Wright!!

I believe that if the IDIOTS running the DBM were around during the WWII - or even WWI - it would be a very dangerous world. The Middle East would be in the hands of the Third Reich, with imperial Japan - controlling the Pacific - and most of Asia. (I bet if we quit WWII, britian would have been overran and then the British colonies in Asia - India, Pakistan, Hong Kong would be given to Japan)

It is time that the DBM - become balance, but they are fawning over Barak Hussien Obama that they can't be. It is time for them to disappear like the horse & buggy.
