Just Hours Later, Obama Campaign Uses Berlin Speech to Raise Campaign Cash

Shortly after 6 pm Central time -- just a few hours after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, gave his speech in Berlin, which his campaign insisted was not political -- his campaign manager, David Plouffe, sent out a fundraising solicitation using the speech to raise campaign cash.

"As you may have heard, Barack has been in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this week," reads the email, with a big red "DONATE" sign. "Today, he spoke in Berlin, Germany. In a city where a wall once divided the free from the oppressed, he talked about tearing down the walls that divide all peoples so we can address our common problems -- the threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, global warming and genocide, AIDS and poverty. Watch Barack's historic speech and share it with your friends."

RUSH: All right. I guess we're going to kind of close the circle here. Obama goes over to Iraq and Afghanistan, pimping George W. Bush's ride and shows up in Berlin today for the big speech, pimping Ronald Reagan, tearing down the wall.

Rush's play-by-play:

Tear Down the Imaginary Walls!

Love it. That picture needs to be sent to every e-mail address in America. And, in Obama’s stronghold, Europe, as well.

Anyone who gives a campaign donation in reply to this ad, would give to B. Hussein’s campaign, anyhow.

David Poofter is no fool. Fools and their money are soon parted. And the Poofter wants some.

Obama’s campaign is one big political con job. Too many suckers all over the world are falling for it. Is someone putting stupid pills into the water supply?

That is all that campaign appearance was - a fundraiser.

No wonder Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., the charismatic, messianic Magic Negro, has turned down Federal matching funds. He can’t afford the restrictions on his activities.

Great stuff...Wexler is a complete idiot (I'm glad Bill O. went after him):

ROBERT WEXLER: The allegation that Senator Obama has not been effective, yet it is his view in Iraq that is now the prevailing view that the Prime Minister of Iraq has endorsed. It is Senator Obama's view that has been endorsed by the Bush administration in concept in Iran by engaging in diplomacy. It is his view in terms of adding troops in Afghanistan that's winning the day. So it's Senator Obama, before he's even president, that's affecting policy in such a great way.

I have always liked the way Wilson handles herself, hope she does more.

I don't think as many people are swooning as the Drive-Bys would like you to believe. Even Christiane Amanpour was sad and shocked that not many people grooved to the speech.

She’s great...I’ve never seen her before. We need her out on McCain’s campaign.

That speech was the worst case of polarized cliches in desperate search of an idea. He needs to find better writers.

But he couldn’t go visit the wounded warriors in the hospital in Germany because that wouldn’t have been proper since people “perceived it to be a campaign trip.” Well, wonder where they may have gotten that idea?
What a brass-plated phony!
