Jamie Gorelick's Cloudy Memory (mega clintonista wall gag alert)
American Thinker ^ | 7-29-08 | Ed Lasky

Posted on 07/30/2008 4:48:44 PM PDT by STARWISE

Jamie Gorelick writes an op-ed complaining about the politicization of the Department of Justice regarding the recruitment of U.S. Attorneys during the Bush Administration.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/28/AR2008072802467.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

She makes it appear as if the ability to hire and fire US attorneys were not at the discretion of the President -- which it is. But she also forgot her own history.

Gorelick was herself a Clinton appointee and one who has seemingly forgotten her own President's actions in using the bludgeon of Justice Department hiring and firings for political purposes. To wit:

Bill Clinton fired all U.S. Attorney's when he assumed office and this was both unprecedented and political in nature.

From a Wall Street Journal report:

http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009784

As everyone once knew but has tried to forget, Mr. Hubbell was a former partner of Mrs. Clinton at the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock who later went to jail for mail fraud and tax evasion.

He was also Bill and Hillary Clinton's choice as Associate Attorney General in the Justice Department when Janet Reno, his nominal superior, simultaneously fired all 93 U.S. Attorneys in March 1993. Ms. Reno--or Mr. Hubbell--gave them 10 days to move out of their offices.

At the time, President Clinton presented the move as something perfectly ordinary: "All those people are routinely replaced," he told reporters, "and I have not done anything differently."

In fact, the dismissals were unprecedented: Previous Presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, had both retained holdovers from the previous Administration and only replaced them gradually as their tenures expired.

This allowed continuity of leadership within the U.S. Attorney offices during the transition.

Equally extraordinary were the politics at play in the firings.

At the time, Jay Stephens, then U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, was investigating then Ways and Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski, and was "within 30 days" of making a decision on an indictment.

Mr. Rostenkowski, who was shepherding the Clinton's economic program through Congress, eventually went to jail on mail fraud charges and was later pardoned by Mr. Clinton.

Also at the time, allegations concerning some of the Clintons' Whitewater dealings were coming to a head. By dismissing all 93 U.S. Attorneys at once, the Clintons conveniently cleared the decks to appoint "Friend of Bill" Paula Casey as the U.S. Attorney for Little Rock.

Ms. Casey never did bring any big Whitewater indictments, and she rejected information from another FOB, David Hale, on the business practices of the Arkansas elite including Mr. Clinton. When it comes to "politicizing" Justice, in short, the Bush White House is full of amateurs compared to the Clintons.

This history Ms. Gorelick ignores. There is also a bit more history that Gorelick ignores: her own.

When she talks of injustice, maybe she should be looking in the mirror.

After all, she was the writer of the memo which created a "Chinese Wall" between intelligence agencies that impeded investigations that could have, and should have, taken place regarding the 9/11 conspiracy before the terror attacks occurred.

She hampered communications between American intelligence and law enforcement agencies that could have prevented the tragedy..

Gorelick was also involved, as a well compensated director of Fannie Mae, in overseeing the actions of this quasi-governmental agency whose actions (including accounting problems) have done great harm to our housing industry and to our economy.

Yet..she is again a highly compensated attorney for a prestigious law firm.

Now that is injustice.

They truly believe we’re completely stupid, with lost memories:

From her op-ed linked above:

~ ~ ~ ~

“For decades, Republican and Democratic attorneys general had protected from political influence the hiring of career prosecutors and administrative judges.

There was an unbroken rule, embodied in law, regulation and department policy, that no political questions would be asked of those who wanted to serve in career — as opposed to political — positions in the department.

We demanded of our Justice Department, in its core prosecutorial and adjudicative functions, that it be separate from politics. Until the Bush administration.”

That this woman can show her face in public or have the audacity to make public statements is another example of what’s very wrong with our country.

I read her “editorial” in WaPo yesterday, thought it was absolutely shameless.

However, it should be pointed out that she wasn’t really writing for general consumption but was preaching to her own choir. The responses on the WaPo comment board consisted of those who think she should be President Obama’s AG just talking right past the points being make about Gorelick’s complete lack of credibility to speak on the matter.

OMG .. I’m gonna throw something. Fannie Mae, which self-destructed from incompetent management and is now getting bailed out ??? From Rush himself:

“Guess who’s been involved intimately with Fannie Mae? Does the name Jamie Gorelick ring a bell?

This woman is everywhere, and

***
Jamie Gorelick got a 26 million payout when she left the place.
***

Jamie Gorelick got 26 million to leave, one of Clinton’s guys, Franklin Raines, Franklin Raines, he was kicked out after corrupting the place.

He left shortly before he was taking it in the shorts, but he got out of there with no penalty whatsoever.

What is it with these Clinton people? This is why we don’t get any tell-all books on the Clinton administration because they were all set up in these sweetheart deals — money, money, money, money — I still can’t get over this.”

Gorelick made millions in bonuses from Fannie Mae. Even the Wash. Post reported on this years ago.

She is a piece of shit, did great damage to America’s ability to defend itself, and is a self-aggrandizing fraud.

And those are just the good things about her.

I made one of these for Obama and cannot find it!! Darn!

The Gorelick WALL;

Jamie Gorelick, Attorney General of the United States during the Clinton administration, responsible for segregating criminal investigators and intelligence agents from shared intelligence.

If I recall correctly, not so long ago Obama was looking at Janet Reno and Gorelick for possible positions...

Janet Reno's No. 2 possible AG for Obama

The Year of the Rat and the 911 Attack were protected by Jamie Gorelick's Wall.

The Democrat nothingburger of Bush replacing a few U.S. Attorneys (when Clinton fired all 93) can never be allowed to go unchallenged. These employees serve at the pleasure of the president.

The installation of Casey indemnified Mr. and Mrs. Satan from justice.

Just as Jamie Gorelick (always a disgusting image) cannot be awarded less than the innermost circle of hell--not, as little weenie Durbin in a Turban whined, for a justified political shot at a loud-mouth America-hater, but for making the 911 attack undetectable in its advance and harmless stages.

She got the 26 mill golden parachute?

Fine. Let her use it when she's thrown off a building the height of the World Trade Center, if we have to take her to Malaysia--

She protected the Chinese Communists who bought our president, our missile secrets, our warheads--

She protected the nineteen hijackers from any interference in the murder of 3,000 U.S. citizens and a one-time blow of one trillion dollars to our national economy--

To the adverse quality of life of our 300,000,000 citizens.

She, being a scumsucking Democrat crook (but I repeat myself) was held harmless--

Even--eeeven this outrage--even sat her fat lying traitorous ass on the 911 Commission.

The first act was bathos. The second, tragedy. The third, farce.
