Oh, you’re right! Eddie Cantor’s big hit was “Making Whoopee”. How could I forget?

Dems getting nervous about the Temple of O

Politico reports that “senior Democratic officials” have had second thoughts about the wisdom of the scope, scale, and setting for tonight’s Barack Obama speech at Invesco Field.

The Greek temple set design appears to have been the last straw, and they now worry about the “rock star” impression that this will leave with American voters who increasingly see Obama as a fad and not a serious candidate.

Democrats failed to foresee this despite nominating their least qualified and experienced candidate in decades, if not in their entire history:

How about this:

1. Cantor endorsed McCain in Virgia at a critical moment and is credited with saving McCain during the primaries. (This is why Myth hates Cantor, BTW.) A return of favor is in order.

2. Cantor has a high profile position in the McCain organization fund-raising and headlined the shadow convention -— but alone among the short-listers has no speaking roll.

3. The base loves Cantor because Cantor is a solid conseravie.

Which, logically means:

It’s Pawlenty.

That was a funny pic — apparently, they’ve already removed it.

It was BHO in a toga, in the doorway of the columns, his famous BHO presidential seal in his hand, and an olive branch wreath on his head.

Obama Camp on Pawlenty: Bring It On

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/obama-camp-on-p.html

August 28, 2008 5:39 PM

Excerpt:

ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: The Obama campaign signaled a willingness on Thursday to say that the 2007 Minneapolis bridge collapse raised management questions for Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) while also maintaining that the populist argument it is building against John McCain will continue even if the presumptive Republican nominee taps the son of a truck driver as his running mate.

“I don’t think it’s particularly relevant who the running mate is if the running mate is willing to embrace in total the Bush-McCain economic doctrine,” Obama strategist David Axelrod told ABC News.

“Everyday Americans understand that those policies aren’t working for them,” he continued. “And if you have one more person out there saying we’ve made ‘great progress’ on our economy and that we ought to continue doing what we’re doing, I’d be eager to have him travel far and wide. I think it’s a losing message.”

“Whoever he picks, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s John McCain’s agenda on the ballot,” added David Plouffe.

McCain Risks Alienating Conservative Base With VP Choice
Conservatives Warn of Backlash if McCain Picks a Pro-Abortion-Rights VP

By JAN CRAWFORD GREENBURG
Aug. 28, 2008

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=5677195&page=1

Excerpt:

With Sen. John McCain poised to announce his vice presidential selection Friday at noon in Ohio, a revolt is brewing among anti-abortion activists in his conservative base that could include a walkout at the Republican National Convention next week and a huge battle on the floor — especially if he selects former-Democrat-turned-Independent Joe Lieberman.

On another thread, there's a link to some guy who has an inside source at the RNC...it's supposed to be a woman. I am absolutely sick over this now because I think the woman will be Meg Whitman. I'm sure she's a nice lady and I love eBay but as VP—a heartbeat away from the presidency when we are at war???

I SO hope not! Disaster. There’s no doubt she’s an excellent executive, but she’s also apparently worth $1.4 billion, too ... imagine how that will play.

Excerpt:

Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting John McCain stayed mum about his pick of a running mate Thursday and one top prospect, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, abruptly canceled numerous public appearances.

Maybe when Meg becomes President, she can put the country up for auction to the highest bidder on eBay.
