If you think its funny and just great, that New Orleans is going to get hit with another hurricane, you must be a Democrat.
[Video and sound of former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina.]
For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her "Dan Quayle" on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as "just terrible." They both agreed that, "Other than the simple fact that she's a female," she has nothing to offer.
Then there was this gem of a moment from Fowler:
"So you see, it's funny. That New Orleans will get a hurricane. That's funny because it is due to hit when President Bush is scheduled to speak. Isn't that cool?"

Fowler had to apologize, and lied about the reasons for his remarks. Listen to his remarks again and see if you hear any reference to Falwell.
Then read his apology again and be prepared to get nauseated with the heavy helping of oleaginous god talk he is serving.
And according to ABC News:
"One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase,"

As arrogant and offensive as Fowler has always been, I fear he is on to something. The national media is in the process of making Palin “another Quayle” and she had better be more aggressive in her defense than Dan was.

No Palin will do just fine. The Media has lower approval ratings than Congress.

I can’t help but think there’s a good television ad McCain’s people could put out to use the Democrats’ smearing of Palin against them.
To: Theodore R.
NO, not
Palin = Quayle
Palin > Obama

The national media is in the process of making Palin another Quayle I'm sure that is what they wish to do, but can you cite examples of this? I get a lot of my news from the Internet and I see examples of this only from Left wing blogs.

I’ve been waiting for the TV ads for her. It’s fine to slow to a crawl because of Gustav but we need more meat on the campaign.

And the really bad news for the dems is that Gustave looks like it’s going to hit well west of NOLA and the city will see about Category 1 winds.
We’ll know for sure when we see pictures of all the TV trucks in New Orleans packing up to head for Houma and Morgan City.

You’re right. It is about trust and I think that over the past two or three weeks, McCain’s campaign is hitting its stride.

Democrats don’t have anything intelligent or constructive to say. So they just demean people who don’t agree with them.

Who is this idiot Fowler in the first place? Chairman of the DNC only indicates that he can wheedle money out of contributors.

Times are different now. Dan Quayle was in a time when the MSM stilled controlled the dissemination of information, before the age of the internet.
It’d be a lot more difficult to pull off what they did to Quayle today.
To: moneyrunner; All
"..."One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase..."
One might reasonably counter:
"One doesn't expect to sit on a plane behind a high level Democrat party operative (in a public place) and listen to them stupidly denigrate a person and gloat over the fact that citizens his party ostensibly "cares more for than the Right-Wing Nutcases" are possibly going to encounter a natural disaster that is going to cause inconvenience and hardship to them, if it doesn't kill them or those they love."
As for "Quayling" her, I wouldn't worry about it.
For one, she sounds like she can take care of herself.
Second, the McCain campaign may actually want them to do that, thereby driving female voters into their camp via a sympathy vote.
Third, while it is true that Quayle was no Dan Quayle the way they unfairly and viciously portrayed him, Palin is arguably better qualified than both on the Dem side as shown below. We should trumpet this everywhere. It can be found at RedState.com

Thank you for this post. Lots of excellent information ... easy to read and consider comparisons. Let us get this outside of Free Republic into the broader domain.
HERE WE are informed in a big arena; yet we tend to do most/much of our discussing here in this forum. (and I love it).
Still ... this needs to have broader/wider exposure.
The ugly stuff the bloggers are writing and accusing Sarah Palin of, is an attempt at character assassination. They are making a big leap to find anything negative to say. So they are saying contemptible things.
Isn't this what they always do. Liberals operate under the premise that ‘all is fair in love or war. No ethics for them. What else is new? NOTHING!

Dan Quayle let himself be placed on defense and largely stayed there, the ‘’Murphy Brown’’ speech notwithstanding. The people who evaluate leaders (mostly liberals) rank him and Agnew as the worst vice presidents, despite Quayle’s work with the Competitiveness Council.

The sad part of it is the people that love the tabloids are going to believe it and spread it as true.
They do vote. Don’t bother them with truth; they vote unquestioningly for Democrats.
Unfortunately.
