Aronofsky: Noah ‘…the first environmentalist.’

Posted by Dirty Harry on Monday, September 15th, 2008

That’s what we’re waiting for; a big-budget, Old Testament epic about Noah The Environmentalist:

Darren Aronofsky: I wrote it. Me and Ari Handel, the guy who worked on the Fountain. It’s a great script and it’s HUGE. And we’re starting to feel out talent. And then we’ll probably try and set it up…

Peter Sciretta: So this isn’t something you can make for six million dollars?

Darren Aronofsky: No, this is big. I mean, Look… It’s the end of the world and it’s the second most famous ship after the Titanic. So I’m not sure why any studio won’t want to make it. …

Peter Sciretta: You would hope so.?

Darren Aronofsky: Yeah, I would hope so. It’s a really cool project and I think it’s really timely because it’s about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what’s going on on this planet. So I think it’s got these big, big themes that connect with us. Noah was the first environmentalist. He’s a really interesting character. Hopefully they’ll let me make it. Oh that’s right I forgot I told you that whole religious thing.

Now they’re going to rewrite the Bible.

Wasn’t there someone else in an earlier part of the book of Genesis who created the Earth and the Heavens? Or did He relinquish the title of “environmentalist” when He did the burning bush thing?

I love Pi.
Requiem for a Dream was boring and pedestrian, I lost interest halfway through and found something else to do.
This one sounds down right inane.

Just wow.

Then again I laughed when they were proposing to make Brokeback Mountain.

... it’s the second most famous ship after the Titanic

Bwaaaa Ha Ha Ha Ha! What a moron. We actually found the Titanic after less than 100 years. And while that was really cool to watch on the History Channel et. al., only a relatively small percentage of the people on the planet could really give a cr@p. If the Noah's Ark was found, everyone on the planet would readdress/reconsider their core beliefs. The two are barely connected.

That whole “God” thing is really overrated.

After all, if Noah were an environmentalist, he would have killed all the people and saved all the animals ......

All Noah did was livew through the flood. It was God’s idea.

I wonder if they’ll depict what made Sodom famous?

Noah, an environmentalist??? Can you IMAGINE the tree-cutting this man had to do in order to build the ark?

-And it wasn’t just the trees... He didn’t just bring TWO of each animal. There were a LOT more - for FOOD and other uses.

Today’s greenies would have a FIT!!!
