The Golden Alumni of Pine Bush NY hold an annual fete for each class that graduated 50 or more years ago.

I went to the reunion yesterday.

Wonderful, and a bit sad. We celebrated our 50th class reunion last year and as always, our class reunion was just great. I made up an e-mail list several years ago and keep in touch with all of them whenever anyone of us is sick or has a death in the family, or dies. We have an especially close class. Next year we have an all-class reunion and I am really looking forward to that. Problem is, the folks who live in Seattle, Wa will come and the ones who live in town won’t. Go figure.

Had ours this year also. Funny how everyone looks so much older than I do! One gal sent an RSVP back saying she didn’t like us 50 years ago so what makes us think she would like us now. Most remained in KC or surrounding area and they have a picnic every year. Always lots of us from all of the country go but the number of those remaining or physically able to attend really dropped this past year.

Back then I was a student at Monroe Woodbury High across the county from Pine Bush, went to away football and basketball games there. They had a lot of school spirit (sometimes a little too much for those on the away teams buses).

I played 6 man football one year:defensive center. I defended the hell out of the center of the bench,if you want the truth of the matter.

We’ve lost about eight of our class of 43, one last year. My good friend has cancer and may not make it for the one in 2009. Several have had prostate cancer, I’ve had two heart attacks and am on dialysis, others have had hip replacements and other various old folk problems. But we still try to get together when we can, usually every five years but it was suggested that we do it more often, LOL. Seems like the sickest are the ones who travel the furthest to be there. Sigh.

I felt the same way at times as your other classmate did but since I’ve been on the committee to do the reunions, I’ve changed my mind. Many are Christians now, and of course as we grow older and hopefully wiser, the things that bothered us then don’t any longer. I enjoy our times together.

Am so sorry about your ill health. Will add you to my prayer list - the length of it is beginning to be another major concern to me. My high school was in the KC area - the heart of America and when I grew up, one of the most conservative places in the entire USA. Since most of the class still lives in that area, sent a broadcast to the 250+ on the email list re the First Amendment infringement from the Obama Truth Squad which recently occurred in Missouri. Recd several emails this morning from some telling me they weren’t “interested” in having anything political sent to them. Sad state of affairs, particularly since one of them responding is a Christian minister. Breaks my heart. We’ll meet one of these days. In the meantime, God keep you safe.

Too many in my class are liberals! One of them is a democrat chairperson of some thing or another. She used to be a councilwoman. Argghhh. She and I have been friends since sixth grade so I try not to say too much. It’s not worth it.

Thanks for your prayers. I’m grateful that I feel as well as I do. God’s grace has been more than sufficient.

God bless you, dear Grams. Mxxx
