Reuters C-SPAN Zogby Poll: Obama Widens Lead To 6 Points Over McCain
October 12th, 2008 By JOE GANDELMAN, Editor-In-ChiefA new Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll finds that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama has widened his lead over Republican Sen. John McCain to six points which is outside the margin of error - -the latest in a series of polls showing McCain increasingly trailing the Illinois Senator:
Democratic Party presidential nominee Barack Obama took a step into rarified air this morning, standing for the first time outside the statistical margin of error in a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby likely voter poll. The survey shows him moving into a statistically significant edge of 6.1 percentage points over Republican John McCain in the latest nationwide sample.
The rolling telephone tracking poll, including a sample of 1,206 likely voters collected over the previous three 24-hour periods spanning four calendar days - approximately 400 per 24-hour period from Oct. 8-11, 2008 - shows Obamas lead growing from the 3.8 percentage points he enjoyed yesterday.
The biggest development of the last 24 hours in terms of the poll was Obamas strong move among independent voters, where he now leads McCain by 21 percentage points, roughly doubling his support from just the day before.
Among Democrats, Obama wins 85% support, while McCain wins 86% support among Republicans. It is an interesting side note that McCain is winning more support from Democrats (10%) than Obama is winning from Republicans (8%), but the edge is insignificant.
Some straight talk from Radarsite: Below is yet another article about yet another Obama scandal, his overt support for a brutal Islamist supporting dictator intent on introducing and enforcing strict sharia law into Kenya. This, as you all know by now, is just the latest in a whole incredible series of major scandals involving presidential candidate Barack Obama, any one of which, in normal times, would be more than sufficient to bring a candidate's campaign to a crashing halt. But of course these are not normal times, are they folks? Above are the latest results from the Reuters/ C-Span/ Zogby poll wherein Obama maintains his comfortable 6 point lead over McCain. Odinga, Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Acorn, the Iraq manipulations, his close ties to the corrupt Chicago political machine, his questionable ties to Muslims and Islamic terrorists, his wife's glaringly anti-white American statements -- all of these shocking exposes and more together add their undeniable negative weight to one side of the scale. Yet, incredibly, even all together they are not enough to tilt the scales, they are still of insufficient weight. For on the other side of this improbable scale sits that enormous immovable bulk of blind irrational Obama support that borders on mass hysteria. It remains untouched, immune to attack and impervious to truth.
While we who are not blinded to reason, who still believe in America, grasp at moral straws, hoping beyond hope that this latest scandal, this newest outrage, will finally do the trick. That somehow, before it really is too late, the gullible American people will finally wake up and see the light, will finally see this dangerous charlatan for what he truly is and for what he most assuredly represents -- which is nothing less than the death of America. The death of the America we know and love.
But as the moments tick by and we get closer and closer to that fateful day in November, inexplicably nothing changes. He remains unscathed by it all. Half, or more than half, of this credulous country of ours wants to believe in the deadly dream that is Obama and they will not be dissuaded by mere facts. They are, it is clearly evident, determined to accept responsibility for America's long list of crimes and failures and resolved to change what it means to be an American. And, God help us, if Obama wins the presidency, they will indeed change what it means to be an American. Perhaps forever.
Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps I've become prematurely cynical and fatalistic. I want to be wrong. I want to believe. Perhaps this latest Odinga outrage detailed below will finally 'do the trick'. Or, if not this one, maybe one of those others will suddenly take on the moral weight it so richly deserves and the American people will belatedly come to their senses. Read and decide for yourselves. Is enough enough yet? - rg ----------------------------------------------------

Barack Obama campaigning with Raila Odinga in Kenya
Cross posted from Maggie's Notebook Photo credit Telegraph.co.uk Barack Obama Raila Odinga
Barack Obama's relationship with Kenyan Raila Odinga has made it into America's mainstream press.
Sunday, October 12, 2008 Here is an American account of the blood on the hands of Raila Odinga, who Obama campaigned for in Kenya. Here is an American account of the agreement Odinga signed with the Muslim Leadership Forum which would have forever changed the lives of Christians in the country as well as the lives of the non-religious. Here is an American account of the time Obama spent with Odinga. Here is an American account of the close personal ties between Barack Obama's father and Raila Odinga's father. Read the entire article at the The Washington Times.
Follows some snippets: Mr. Odinga had the backing of Kenya's Muslim community heading into the election. For months he denied any ties to Muslim leaders, but fell silent when Sheik Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, appeared on Kenya television displaying a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 29, 2007, by Mr. Odinga and the Muslim leader. Mr. Odinga then denied his denials. The details of the MOU [Memorandum of Understanding] were shocking. In return for Muslim backing, Mr. Odinga promised to impose a number of measures favored by Muslims if he were elected president. Among these were recognition of "Islam as the only true religion," Islamic leaders would have an "oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original]," installation of Shariah courts in every jurisdiction, a ban on Christian preaching, replacement of the police commissioner who "allowed himself to be used by heathens and Zionists," adoption of a women's dress code, and bans on alcohol and pork.
Thank you to Goat at the Barnyard.
I'm reminded of when Bush ran against Clinton, all the negative stories piling up just before he won...and of the OJ juror who said "there was TOO MUCH EVIDENCE against him"!
People just tune out facts when their FEEEEELINGS tell them they like this nice, clean black man, and he'll be different, and blah blah blah.
The “stack of stuff” on 0bama that the LSM is ignoring must be as tall as Mount Everest by now!
Are that many people insane? I know McCain’s not the best candidate...
It’s so frustrating!
When the msm is in the tank for you then the scandals do not matter unless they get enough traction the msm cant ignore it any longer.
Yes, a socialist America may be within their grasp at last. Then they can bring on their one world government, too.
I, for one, will not be welcoming our new Obamunist masters.
Your post was outdated the second you clicked Enter. The latest Zogby poll has McCain within 4 points (48 v. 44):

I pray it's good enough, but if we were not already becoming a socialist country, Obama would not even be in the running, much less 4 points ahead.
In God we trust. Adding prayers to the needed e-mails.
Bullsqueeze!
Unmitigated bullsqueeze!
I have to wonder about why neither of these guys can get a solid lead and keep it. The problem is, Obama always seems to be the one ahead. And yet, he SHOULD be way ahead...but he never is.
If the American People elect this bafoon, They got it comin. I think we have adequately warned a lot of them; they saw the Clinton mess, they have been told about pelosi, Reid, etc. What else can a person do? GG how frustrating can this get?

And what were the number of Democrats vs Republicans in the poll?
So Obama’s lead is at 6? Well, then, thankfully we’re still OK because according to the MSM, racism is ingrained in Americans and its worth about 5% in the polls for McCain.
/sarcams off
Reuters = untrustworthy
C-SPAN = untrustworthy
Zogby = very untrustworthy
Why should I be concerned about this poll again?
For that matter, can you point us to some internals for this poll? I suspect it’s oversampled for Dems, just like all the other past polls showing Obama 6-8 points ahead.
I do think there’s a chance one of these scandals will resonate with “undecided” voters. But for those who are Obama devotees it’s hopeless - unless he is shown to be lying to his base. (IMHO - there’s something in the birth certificate.)
Thaks. This is one time I love to be corrected. I just hope I’m REALLY wrong.
McCain's strategy is go for the "moderates". How could he then lose 8% of republicans to Obama?
It’s true. We just talked to our neighbor yesterday. He is a democrat (union) who earlier said that even as a democrat, there is no way he would ever vote for Obama. His union had a meeting and got to him, though, and now he says says he will vote for him! We asked how he could do that knowing all he does about Obama (the scandals, his associates, all the reasons he said he WOULDN’T) vote for him). Basically he doesn’t care. If the union says Obama will ‘give’ him something or do something for him, that’s who he will vote for, the country be damned. It was like getting punched in the stomach to hear that, because I know the rest of the country is like that too. O could remove his mask on TV and be Satan himself and it won’t matter.
Take heart, Roger. The polls show McCain is moving up on Obama.
Ignoring several things... the most major is that a black candidate for public office in America traditionally has to be ten or twelve points up in polls to win and Oinkbama is nowhere near ten or twelve points up. Doug Wilder barely squeaked through for Va. governor at 12 points up in 1991.
We are planning a mass media protest on Oct 21st. Whether you can protest in person at a local media outlet in your town or participate in a massive email and phone campaign, lets join as one voice on in this effort to let the media and its advertisers we want the truth to be told.
We need help writing emails, posting stories, and local media outlets. Please help, one voice is lost, but thousands will make an impact.

I wonder if McCain’s endorsement of Obama helped with those “all important” independents. Matbe he can clear it up wen he goes on Letterman, Thursday night.
On the other hand, McCain also have the inside intelligence of Barry's coming fall and embarashment, meaning being handcuffed and dressed in an orange jumpsuit which BTW is his cousin Odinga's favor color!!
There is NO reason for McCain than just sit patiently, not getting involved, because the rats are going to eat themselves publicly!!!
Then we can also look at what is taking place at Puma and Hillbuzz and other similar "protesters" to the Kenyan born, but Indonesian citizen Barry Soetoro???
The only problem is: there are no random samples of voters. None. Zero. Nada. Gore was up 11 against Bush at this point, and Kerry was ahead too. Polls are meaningless.
I am campaigning for McCain at the local RNC HQ here in Northern California.
I am polling independents and about 50% of them are STILL UNDECIDED in a very Left-Wing area.
I have not given up hope, but why am I selling McCain when he refuses to smash Obama in the mouth and reveal his empty suit resume and terror/Islamic/mob ties, influences and ACORN, Fannie Mae issues?
He is a Marxist Muslim, the two biggest threats, independently the US faces...
Get on your horse, John, or we will be paying the Global Poverty Tax for generations...
I was about to tell the poster that Rasmussen said this morning the polls are tightening. I knew they would as the election gets closer. The pollsters and media are in the “depress and supress the McCain voters” right now.
bttt

EVERYBODY STILL GO VOTE !!
Exposing Obama is great, but the public is scared to death right now about the economy. McCain needs to address that as much as possible and tie Obama and his cronies to Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac fiasco causing this recession and give solutions. He needs to talk tax cuts and drilling for oil and how Obama will raise taxes and not drill for oil, which is our life blood. Remember that Clinton got voted in twice because of the economy and it did not matter if he was exposed over and over in any way. I remember Rush Limbaugh saying that we think they don’t know who Clinton is, but they knew and voted him in twice. They do not know who Obama is, but I have no faith that will stop them from voting for him with this bad economy and them thinking it is Bush’s fault. They are afraid the Great Depression is coming and it is vital McCain can make them feel really hopeful and safe.
I’m sorry. I just can’t depend on Billary.
I’ve GOT to fight1
My own feeling is that millions of Americans could not recognize the names of Ayers and ACORN in a name recognition test because either don’t read o anything more than their left-wing rag or watch anything other than the alphabet news networks. I’ve been looking in vain for stories in some the major new outlets connecting the Dems to the FM scandals. Obama’s scandals have been the most hushed-up news stories in history. The truth is most Americans don’t know who the real Obama is.
I’ll do it. Just tell me what you want me to do in the letter writing campaign.
Can’t attend a protest.
NOT here!
The challenge is to get out to the ignorant cool-aid drinking "rats," whom are acting like the fanatic Jim Jones suicide disciples!!
When you see the "rat" crowd in New York, this is huge mountain to climb, except when and IF Philip J. Berg gets his day in court!!!
No, they're not meaningless--they are indicators of direction, not numbers, in many cases.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - GOP presidential candidate Gov. George W. Bush has regained his lead over rival Democratic candidate, Vice President Al Gore, according to Saturday's CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/03/gallup.poll/index.html
(CNN) -- President Bush and his Democratic challenger, Sen. John Kerry, are about even among likely and registered voters in the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, released Sunday. The poll showed Kerry and Bush tied at 49 percent each among likely voters interviewed. Among registered voters Bush had 49 percent and Kerry 47 percent. Independent candidate Ralph Nader was favored by 1 percent in each group.

NEW YORK Two weeks before Election Day, President George W. Bush (search) leads Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry (search) in the race for the White House, according to a FOX News poll released Tuesday. In the days following the final presidential debate, Bush has not only continued to solidify his position with independent voters, but he is also holding his ground with women voters a traditional Democratic voting group that Kerry needs in his column. Today Bush has a five-point lead, receiving 48 percent to Kerry's 43 percent among likely voters. When independent candidate Ralph Nader (search) is included he receives 2 percent, Bush 49 percent and Kerry 42 percent. Two weeks ago Bush had a two-point lead over Kerry in the three-way race, and a three-point lead in the head-to-head matchup.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/10/31/opinion/polls/main652496.shtml
(CBS) The race for the White House heads into its final two days very close in the nationwide popular vote, and nearly the same as it was two weeks ago. President George W. Bush holds a three-point lead over Senator John Kerry among likely voters, an edge within this poll's margin of error.
That was the rare exception. Historically they’ve consistently leaned Democratic. They’re event worse in Congressional and state polls. It’s basically impossible to get a true random sample that will reflect the actual voter base.
Well, what can I say? I've found polls that show that Kerry and Gore were not proclaimed the victor in all the polls, as has been asserted here.
I sure don't by the hard numbers. But when it seems like EVERY poll is against McCain, I have to wonder if we're all starting to think that Obama has the Haliburton weather machine. I don't think we'd be saying this if McCain had Obama's numbers.
McCain may win. The polls all mean nothing after the election's over--we get maybe one story comparing accuracy--but that's why we chose a president on election day, and not through a tallying-up of polls from CBS and the like.
There’s just such a viral aspect to human behavior, especially in places that are tighter knit, like where I live. It’s stupied to poll this county, there are too many little subgroups and cross currents. You never could get a true random sample.
