The winding road of the 2008 political campaign has turned in ways that many of us could have never guessed a year ago.
With John McCain emerging as the survivor of an extremely weak field (with one possible exception), and Obama squeezing past Hillary in a triumph of the radical Left, this contest appeared to be a blowout in the making.
A couple of things happened though.
The McCain campaign pulled what was arguably the biggest surprise move in politics in our lifetime: for his running mate, he chose a nearly unknown lady governor with a house full of kids and a fisherman husband. The mainstream media fell out of their chairs with surprise, followed by anger that they were not part of the selection process.
They have spent the following weeks trying to destroy the little mom from Alaska. The political Left has even enlisted allies from the pseudo-conservative journalism class, who would rather lose and be accepted at cocktail parties than to stand for principle.
Sarah Palins presence on the political scene has revived memories in many true conservatives of another individual whom the elites scoffed at and dismissed: Ronald Wilson Reagan. The multitudes that flock to hear this charismatic lady are testimony that there is great hunger for real conservative leadership. If given the freedom to do so, she will be that leader. Conservatives recognize as they did with Reagan, she has the right stuff.
The elites, the Left, the so-called intellectuals hate hermillions of real Americans love her. If McCain pulls this election out, it will not be due to straight talk, but a straight shooter-- the tough little hockey mom.
In recent days, the conversation has centered more and more on Obamas Marxist vision for America, but he has found opposition. It has come from a regular Joea plumber from Ohio. He has become a symbol of everymanpeople who believe in Americas greatness and who reject intrusion of government into their lives.
Obamas minions hate him and are trying to destroy himas they are trying to destroy us.
Senator McCains war wounds prevent him from raising his arms above his shoulders, his campaign has suffered from severe wounds as well, but if he suddenly finds that his candidacy can reach heavenward, he will find two figures at his sides lifting his arms-A Plumber and the Princess from the North. They represent us--they are us.

..looks like NWCL is posting again
That’s a beautifully written piece.
What a delicious headline..
Oh, when you said the “Princess of the North”, my mind went to what I remember of the “Queen of the North”... and her fateful sinking in British Columbia.
For just a minute, there, though you were talking about her...

NWCL returns BUMP!!!
Now how many people are going to recognize where that headline came from? (It’s taken from the ‘Princess and the Plumber’ play that is put on as a subplot in a Veggietales movie about Christmas, I forget the name of it though...)
BTT!
