I don’t think she was a member, but she did welcome them to the Capital for their convention. Todd Palin may have been a member. Big whoop.

I don’t know what is so controversial about the group. So they want to secede from the US?

If Obama wins the election, I will consider moving to Alaska and joining the secession movement, too. We can elect Sarah queen.

Secession is an ok thing when a country breaks its promise and abandons its core priciples.

cant blame good hard working Americans for wanting to distance themselves from the socialists in DC.

If Hussein is elected I will move to the first state that secedes.

Fox News had something on this on one of their shows. As the Governor of Alaska she did an official welcome video to them for their convention they were holding in Alaska. It was nothing more than a nice welcome to our state thing all governors would have done. She had no involvement with them.

I heard that her husband was a member for awhile. I figure it was because he's a descendant of Alaska's indigenous population. The state's GOP was riddled with graft & the state's Democrats were Democrats. Stuck in a situation like that, where you gonna go?

Todd Palin was a member of the AIP, a long time ago. Sarah Palin is reported to have attended an event, or two, with him, at that time. Sarah Palin was never a member and Todd Palin is no longer a member.

You need to learn to do research. The claim against Sarah Palin has been widely debunked, weeks ago. Her husband was a member of that party briefly, 20 years ago, before she married him.

Yep! This was all debunked and the Alaska Independance Party has even said she was not a member.

Sarah Palin ADDRESSED the Independent Party but she has NEVER been an Independent.

Sarah Palin and the Alaska Independence Party. Palin addresses AIP convention

Sarah Palin was never a member. In the 1990s, Todd Palin registered with the Alaskan Independence Party when he registered to vote, but was never actually a member of the party.

The thing to understand about this, is that the party offered Walter Hickel, a former Republican Governor and member of the Nixon Cabinet their nomination in 1990. Hickel rejected the independence platform (he had been a big promoter of statehood in the 1950s), and was elected in a three-way race.

I assume that Todd Palin registered with the party as a way of supporting Hickel's opposition to some federal regulations on Alaskan land use. So to say that either of the Palins had been a secessionist or separatist would be wrong.
