By now I'm sure you've probably heard the news. An effigy of Obama hanged was discovered and immediately removed by police at Northern Kentucky University. The hordes of people expressing their shock was astounding. The president of the University also expressed that he would be calling Mr. and Mrs. Obama immediately to apologize. This is a big deal folks. Someone made fun of Obama and now all hell is breaking loose. You can't poke fun at The One without getting the police involved.
And yes, I am choosing my words carefully. Because when an effigy of Sarah Palin hanging from a noose was prominently displayed in West Hollywood, the verdict nationwide was that this was merely a Halloween prank and didn't mean a damn thing. You see, it's perfectly ok to pretend like you want to lynch Sarah. You can even point a gun pretend to shoot at her. That's art. But do the same toward a half black man and suddenly you are being investigated for a hate crime.
Teach your children well. Pretending to kill women is ok. Pretend to kill a man, especially a half black man and you are in deep doo doo.
Remember kiddies: Kill woman, art. Kill man, crime.
The double standard is almost unbearable.
speaks volumes about the way Hussein thinks.
I guess that the pain and damage on Palin's young children, seeing 'their very own mom hanging dead in a noose'...
was not enough for Hussein to speak up!
Sickening.
I heard they removed the Sarah Palin display yesterday!
Honestly, I am not afraid of nooses, nor the effigy of any person hanging under the eaves of someone's house. What I do fear is the prevailing wisdom that people should be prosecuted for these acts.
The double standard should be apparent for all to see.
And it’s the problem with so called hate crime legislation. There is an implied double standard that somehow one assault is more hateful than another.
That, and the little problem of prosecuting people for what they "think". That, to me, is the truly chilling detail.
