This is a great analysis of what happened, the best I've read so far. "…uneducated mass of voters" sums it all up.

The writer does cover all the bases....with the exception that there is quite simply a strong delusion gripping the country and the world right now.

Well I read the part on campaign financing and gave up at that point, what a bunch of rationalizing drivel.

The fact is McCain, for all we may respect his public and military service, is a RINO and a moderate who prides himself on “reaching across the aisle”. As a candidate this failed to excite the Republican base and the big donors sat on their checkbooks. McCain had no choice but to take public funding, enabling Obama to outspend him with the results we all know.

The article is a collection of woulda-shoulda, I’d rather look to the future.

Fantastic article. Thanks, Melissa.
What do you think of the suggestion
of a Palin/Guiliani ticket for 2012?
I thought it was worth consideration.

” This is a great analysis of what happened, the best I’ve read so far. “

Ditto.
Sober and realistic assessment of the 2008 failures, but, also how to proceed in the future.
It’s pretty chilling that our bench has only one person willing to fight the media and the Democrats
and that’s Sarah Palin.
Although Eric Cantor and Kris Kobach are also on my radar.
But, other than those three..I got nothing.
And that’s our problem.

McCain did not bring a gun to the gun fight. Simple as that. McCain never even responded to Obama’s attacks.

There are six primary forces in socio-political discourse and influence in America: the presidency, the Congress, the courts, the MSM, academia and pop culture (Hollywood, TV, music). All six are presently aligned vehemently against evangelical Christianity.

This election season has graphically demonstrated it. The evangelical segment of the electorate is now the largest group ever to have been so seriously marginalized and frozen out of the process in one dramatic fell-swoop. And now, it appears that even the Republican Party takes them for granted (elements of the Rep. Party have even been showing outright hatred for them).

Be looking for the nuclear option to be, at least, discussed by these folks — the dreaded third party; it is looking more and more like their only viable option. We all intuitively know that 3rd parties guarantee success to the party they agree with least, which is very destructive; but when one group has been so severely isolated, it may be the only way to wield any influence at all (and not be merely “used” by people who hate them).

A VERY balanced take & takes a Canadian !?! “Northern Thoughts and Reflections” website (I’ve never seen it) has apparently been only going since August- just look at his archives and length of documents this guy Christopher Lancop has written. Given the grasp of subject matter and simple, direct style along with excellent links to what I think of as fine sources, this guy’s a fantastic talent.
He DOES rip McCain on failing to attack. He’s NOT excusing him, but rather crits for strolling blindly into Dem hit-squad’s sights.
