I’m not the biggest Ann Coulter fan out there. I think she says things that are way out of line just for the controversy, and attention for selling books. However, when we learned that Teddy Kennedy had brain cancer we didn’t make jokes about it. It would have been easy to do, but we asked our readers to pray for him. This is what makes conservatives different than most liberals! We don’t celebrate the tragedies of others just because we don’t like them, with perhaps the exception of Fred Phelps and his cult where we might make an exception. However, the left are jubilant that Ann Coulter’s mouth has finally been shut!

I agree. I am always impressed with the level of compassion and dignity FReepers show towards people who have suffered misfortune, even if they are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. It is their spirituality that transcends the not so petty differences that always impresses me when i read through such threads here.

I cannot think of any liberal whose physical pain I would celebrate. NONE of them are able to poke holes in the conservative worldview, so unlike liberal kookjobs, I don’t need to see them suffer. Their mindset is their own punishment.
Fred Phelps is a Gore supporter. Just because he is a wacko and is anti-gay doesn’t mean that he is right wing on any point.
The biggest impediment to conservatives winning is that they won’t take advantage of every weakness. They would rather talk about how they play the game and act superior. Believe me the left is trying to use Teddy’s rotting brain to a political advantage.

Read more carefully, it says we don’t celebrate harm to peopel we don’t like, with maybe the exception of Fred Phelps. It says nothing about Fred Phelps being a conservative. Why would you think that?

I don’t think he included Phelps as a conservative. He included Phelps as someone whose tragedies we are allowed to celebrate. I only read the excerpt, but I didn’t see him call Phelps a conservative, just someone we don’t like.

how did she break her jaw? was she on one of those medications to prevent osteoporosis? I know that they carry the risk of jaw bone problems. Ann is so skinny that she may well have this problem though she is pretty young.
