SCOTUS UPDATES for December 2, 2008: CORT WROTNOWSKI HAND DELIVERS EMERGENCY APPLICATION - DONOFRIO LETTER REGARDING NJ JUDGE MISCONDUCT HITS DOCKET

Cort Wrotnowski, (SCOTUS Docket No. 08A469), a day after facing the shock of his life when told by a SCOTUS clerk that his renewed application to Justice Scalia would be held back for 7 days due to anthrax screening, hand delivered 10 copies of his renewed application to the Security booth at SCOTUS this morning at 10:30 AM.

Cort was told by the Clerk’s office that the papers would “probably” be in the Clerk’s office by 2:00 PM. Cort’s application, according to Supreme Court Rule 22.1, should be “transmitted promptly” to the Honorable Associate Justice Antonin Scalia. Keep your eyes on that Docket to see if they will follow the Rules of Court.

Wow. Looks like Cort was up late last night making new copies and drove all the way from CT to DC to arrive at SCOTUS at 10 am. Man this guy is a hero. This is like a 6 hour drive one way. Incredible.

Looks like more news too on Leo's case and the clerks are not even taking Leo's calls. Incredible. What arrogance by the clerks there. Leo and Cort are true heroes.

It’s not the clerks. I’m thinking the Supes don’t wanna touch it.

I think Justices Thomas and Scalia have more guts than people give them credit for. I think Alito and Roberts also think the Constitution means something and Kennedy may also agree.

"This is like a 6 hour drive one way. Incredible. "

Yes, but unfortunately he did not drive a Prius hybrid; The liberal USSC justices have therefore declared his appeal to be DOA.

This explains what was in the letter that was added to the Donofrio SCOTUS case:

...agreed. Any clerk would be out on his ear if they were truly this incompetent. They’ve been given instructions to kill time.

I’m sure they don’t, no one wants to be the bearer of bad news. But they took this job on and they have a responsibility to here cases that are constitutionally relevant and to not deserves impeachment in my opinion.

If that were the case I keep thinking that they, being at least Thomas would have simply denied Donofrio’s case the second time it was submitted. It could be the Court is divided down the middle or even less, with most of them preferring to punt on the issue.

All they need is 4, and you named 5 that may actually want to argue the merits!

LOL! Well incredible effort by Cort.

At this point, I have more faith in Thomas and Scalia than I do in the GOP or our AM conservative talk show “heroes.” Alito and Roberts probably have the same backbone as well.

I think Thomas and Scalia are real lions and are not easily frightened.

Maybe I am naive.

Supposedly big news tonight on Plains Radio at 6 pm CST. Sadly I have a 3 hour drive tonight at that time. :-(

Someone please post here to FR after the show to let me know what is up. Supposedly pretty big news.

Wow. Cort is a hero. He was on Plains Radio last night and the listeners kept hearing a trumpet. It was his son practicing. He had to go in the bathroom to stay on the line. What a super guy. Real patriots.

I agree. I believe Mr. Thomas has the mettle to push this along - no matter what the flak, I believe he'll do what he believes is right. The same with Mr. Scalia.
IF this accusation has merit, though, I have to believe that all of the Supremes are under extreme pressure to rationalize reasons not to hear it.
This will be a real character gauge (of which, a good portion of the Supremes have already convinced me that their gauge is running on Empty)...

With it being such a profound Constitutional issue you’d think it would be a slam dunk 9-0.

Leo pointed out his contempt for both parties and how the citizenry needs to take back the power. My dream is that SCOTUS sees the abuse in not vetting the candidates and abusing the Constitution in an outrageous way.

My hope is SCOTUS helps the citizenry take back the power from an abusive Legislative and Executive (to be) branch who is defrauding the country and citizens.

Leo is like Paul Revere. Cort probably drove all night to get his filing to SCOTUS. Amazing.

I went to my Knights of Columbus meeting last night and this is all we wanted to talk about. I was stunned. Didn’t think so many were people were following this below-the-radar story the LSM refuses to cover.

I listen to a lot of conservative talk radio and this subject is never discussed there either.
