Last night, Fox News in Chicago was already reporting that Rahm Emmanuel personally met with the governor "on several occasions" to discuss the patronage Senate seat being vacated by Obama. This is getting very sticky already. There are already many cracks in Obama's story, and rumors range from suggestions of his complicity and knowledge to suggestions that his camp blew the whistle on the Blagojevich crime spree. Was the crime stopped before it had an opportunity to implicate Obama? (video)

I think an Obama supporter in either the Justice Dept or the FBI tipped off the Obama camp before they made a deal with Blago. That said, it may be that Rahm Emmanuel could be guilty of something by even taking part in such discussions without informing the Feds. Knowledge of corruption and not reporting it is a crime.
The Messiah would never lie! The Messiah that is Obama, that is. :)
I would like Freepers to consider participating in an email campaing to Blago, offering support and encoraging him to call the legislature’s bluff to impeach. I don’t think most Illinois Democrats could survive such a public inquiry, including the President Elect. Blago should say, “Go ahead. Let us air our dirty laundry. Let he who has not sinned cast he first stone.”
Yes, but it wasn't stopped for that reason. Once Obama is installed, he was going to fire all those Prosecutors because they are of the wrong political persuasion (wasn't Bush investigated for that). Thus, if Fitz waited much longer, he'd have been out of a job and the man/woman replacing him would sweep the whole matter under the carpet. So they may have pulled the trigger a little early, but they nailed a big bad guy with the shot.
Actually, it’s not that bad for Zero. All of the tapes have Blago ranting about getting nothing from Zero in exchange for his senate candidate.
The only thing that could bite Zero in the butt is if it later comes out that he did in fact have at least one meeting (face to face or on the tapped phones) with Blago about Zero’s replacement. Zero has denied that he ever met with Blago for that purpose, so he would then be caught in a lie. (I hope Fitz puts Zero in front of a Grand Jury.)
I think Zero knew for a long time that Blago’s phones were tapped and so he knew not to offer any quid pro quo to Blago for a senate appointment. That’s why Blago went so ballistic when he was turned down.
He was at the courthouse in Chicago yesterday. My first thought: shredding documents. And he wouldn’t answer any questions.
It appears that his phone conversations—the ones revealed thus far—aren’t enough to convict him of anything, according to all the talking heads I heard this morning. Saying something doesn’t mean any money changed hands or anything untoward actually took place. So he’s got one foot out the door already. I agree that Blago should take a stand. It’s the Chicago way. (And hopefully he and the rest of those involved get their just “rewards”.)
And that’s why guys like Emmanuel do the dirty work.
Bingo! We have a winner!
No word yet on whether Sandy Berger was with him.
Here’s another one to ponder. How about taking a good look at Michelle Obama’s previous activities. She tripled her salary by getting on that hospital board. What happened there? Who did who a favor and why? Do hospital boards always give raises like that? Was she THAT good? Nah.........
My first thought: shredding documents.
Ditto, I can’t believe Mr Hairdo would be allowed back into the center of a crime scene to tamper with stuff. I guess if all the paper could have been confiscated it would have been ....but guess not??
I actually saw Sandy Berger on CNN a couple of weeks ago. That guy should be in jail.
And here I thought we’d actually have to wait for BO to be crowned before the scandals started.
That is, if they haven't already been wiped!
he’s in violation of his plea deal. He’s still hasn’t shown up for his polygraph. And the Feds still haven’t asked him to show up for it.
“It appears that his phone conversationsthe ones revealed thus fararent enough to convict him of anything”
Well, not entirely true otherwise Fitz never would have busted him. Blago conspired to use a public trust for his personal gain.
