CHICAGO: CRIME KIND OF TOWN

Crime in Chicago has been in the news lately, but it is nothing new. Historically it dates back over a hundred years. From the tale of the Gray Wolves

http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/540.html

The 1890s Chicago City Council was notorious for corrupt political practices orchestrated by a faction of its aldermen known as the Gray Wolves. So named because they were viewed as preying upon the defenseless public, the Gray Wolves were led by First Ward aldermen “Bathhouse” John Coughlin and “Hinky Dink” Mike Kenna, and Johnny Powers of the Nineteenth Ward. These elected officials were not only skilled at trading votes for favors, but once in office they excelled in making municipal decisions to profit themselves financially.

TO the present, it is a compelling historical subject.

Looking at the list , I wonder if any of those were involved with Rahm-E scandal when he hurried up citizenship. Could have used the Hispanic as a screen for other wealthy people?????...Remember?

From:

Emanuel coordinated with Hispanic community organizers in Chicago to rubberstamp immigrants for citizenship, the INS official said in an exclusive interview with WND.

It turns out the long-time Chicago political operative was the behind-the-scenes catalyst for Citizenship USA, a project run out of then-Vice President Al Gore’s office.

“Rahm was doing it under the guise of Al Gore’s Reinventing Government program,” said the official, who helped direct INS security policy. “He was definitely the point man and was past his neck in the scandal at INS.”

From Baghdad to Chicago: Rezko and the Auchi empire
by JOHN A. SHAW (Opinion: former senior official of US Defense, State, and Commerce departments)
October 10, 2008

.....

As the Wall Street Journal showed several weeks ago, Obama has been anything but forthcoming about his real relationship with Rezko and Auchi. And the public has no idea how extensive and how corrupt the network that Auchi has developed across the world is. Let me count the ways: Like organized crime, the network shows no public profile beyond legitimate business activities, and has a small army of lawyers threatening any critics with libel actions in Britain, Auchi’s adopted residence where there is no First Amendment protection.

Billionaires can buy anonymity at the same time they buy influence and politicians. In 2000, although Nadhmi Auchi had spent two decades as Saddam Hussein’s broker in the international oil and armament worlds, he was seen from the United States as essentially a European go-between, who worked the highest levels of the Italian and particularly the French and British governments. He had bought an aura of respectability by buying senior politicians and favorable press, and threatening any critics, a pattern he had begun to introduce in the United States with British assistance a decade earlier. I first began to fathom the extent of Nadhmi Auchi’s reach and corrupting influence when I was given responsibility for monitoring illegal transfers of technology and munitions to Iraq as well as overseeing all coalition transportation and communications reconstruction in Iraq.
...............

His seemingly innocent investments with Rezko in the Middle West, however, went hand in hand with Rezko’s extensive scheme to trade off campaign donations to Illinois politicians for jobs and multimillion dollar state and city contracts. That strategy appears to have tied in as well to Joseph A. Cari, Jr., a Clinton administration official who served as Democratic National Committee Finance Chairman in 1993-94, and who, like Rezko, was found guilty of extortion of Illinois officials in 2006, and similarly is awaiting sentencing. Cari was Clinton’s national finance chairman when Rezko and Auchi made their White House visits. Cari is now managing director of a Middle East trade and investment fund in New York. How many of Rezko’s donations and US investments originated with and were dependent on Auchi? Is there any evidence that Rezko had any other major source of funding? How long had the Auchi network been in place in Chicago? And what were Auchi’s connections to the Iraqi spy ring about to go to trial in Detroit, who in late 2002 paid two Democratic congressmen to go to Iraq and oppose the war, and which flourished on UN Oil for Food vouchers?

................................

But his underwriting of the purchase of Obama’s multimillion dollar Chicago mansion may have been the step too far which finally brought down Auchi’s grand scheme of empire and intrigue. It was, however, cheap at the price to buy a putative United States Senator. Nothing boneheaded about that decision at all. What is a candidate worth? This was Chicago, after all. On the other hand, however, if Barack Obama becomes President of the United States, the sky may be the limit for Nadhmi Auchi.

I wonder if Fitz’s Global Relief/ Benevolence Intl cases fit into this — a lot of Syrian involvement and they had offices in the Balkans and both run out of Chicago suburbs and tied to the Bridgeview mosque.

From:

MIM: After years of being under law enforcement scrutiny more proof of the obvious emerges revealing the Bridgeview Mosque Foundation’s direct ties to Hamas . The BMF spokesman is Rafiq Jaber, the head of the Islamic Association of Palestine, which is the American wing of Hamas

Which begs the question of how such a hub of terrorist activity in the Hamas stronghold of Bridgeview Illinois, is still conducting ‘business as usual’ and why Muhammed Hamid Khalil Salah is the only BMF associate who was arrested this week. . Imam Jamil Said of The Bridgeview Mosque Foundation is a known Hamas leader

A federal jury reached a split verdict Thursday in the case of two men accused of aiding the militant Palestinian group Hamas.

Jurors acquitted Muhammad Hamid Khalil Salah and Abdelhaleem Hasan Abdelraziq Ashqar of racketeering ...conspiracy but convicted them of lesser charges in a case the government had said was a major prosecution in its war on terrorism. The indictments were announced in 2004 at a news conference by then-Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft...

...Salah, 53, was convicted of obstruction of justice for giving false answers to questions in a civil lawsuit. Ashqar, 48, was convicted of criminal contempt and obstruction of justice for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury when he had been given immunity from prosecution for anything he might say. Possible sentences range from probation to 10 years in prison, with a hearing set for June 15....

...Statements Salah made in Israeli custody linked him closely to the hierarchy of Hamas, including top Hamas official Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook. Prosecutors provided bank records showing that Abu Marzook, a fugitive living in Damascus, Syria, sent Salah nearly $1 million in the early 1990s.

ONE of the “bundlers” who has raised $50,000 to $100,000 for the Barack Obama presidential campaign is Terrence Bean, who once controlled the biggest producer of gay porn in America.

Bean, the first gay on Sen. Obama’s National Finance Committee, is the sole trustee of the Charles M. Holmes Foundation, which owned Falcon Studios, Jock Studios and Mustang Studios, the producers of about $10 million worth of all-male pornography a year.

Chuck Holmes, who founded Falcon in 1972, died of AIDS in 2000. San Francisco’s new gay and lesbian community center was named after Holmes two years later, thanks to a $1 million donation from his estate.

.....
Bean, a real-estate developer based in Oregon, was the CEO of Conwest Resources, the holding company that owned Falcon, before Holmes died. The company was sold in 2004 but, now called 3 Media, continues to pay off a note to the foundation.

Borrowed the quote off your homepage, didn’t think you’d mind. It seems appropriate with all the things we’re discovered in the research of this thread.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism.”

“But under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program,
until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Alexi Giannoulias—a “man who has long been dogged by charges that the bank his family owns helped finance a Chicago crime figure” and “who became Illinois state treasurer” in 2006 after Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “vouched for him”—”pledged to raise $100,000 for the senator’s Oval Office bid,” Charles Hurt reported September 5, 2007, in the New York Post.[1]

The September 5, 2007, Chicago fundraiser was omitted from Obama’s public schedule and the event was closed to the press,” Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times reported.[2]

“Before he promised to raise funds for Obama, Giannoulias bankrolled Michael ‘Jaws’ Giorango, a Chicagoan twice convicted of bookmaking and promoting prostitution.

“Giannoulias is so tainted by reputed mob links that several top Illinois Dems, including the state’s speaker of the House and party chairman, refused to endorse him even after he won the Democratic nomination with Obama’s help.

NormsRevenge
Rezko already has told prosecutors his version of what they say was a plot to stack the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board and ram through a major expansion program for Mercy Hospital in return for a major contribution to Blagojevich’s campaign fund. It’s one of many allegations they have investigated of job and favor trading for campaign contributions.

******

Sen. Barack Obama’s wife and three close advisers have been involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don’t have private insurance — primarily poor, black people — to other health care facilities.

Obama’s top political strategist, David Axelrod, co-owns the firm, ASK Public Strategies, that was hired by the hospital last year to sell the program — called the Urban Health Initiative — to the community as a better alternative for poor patients. Obama’s wife and Valerie Jarrett, an Obama friend and adviser who chairs the medical center’s board, backed the Axelrod firm’s hiring, hospital officials said.

Obama has said he recommended Whitaker for the state job, giving his name to Tony Rezko, who helped Gov. Blagojevich assemble his Cabinet. Rezko, a former fund-raiser for Obama and Blagojevich, was convicted in June on federal corruption charges tied to state deals.

Connected Demoted
Long rumored connection confirmed by the Sun Times. Finally:

*

A cousin of Michelle Obama was one of four police supervisors recently kicked off Supt. Jody Weis’ command staff.
[...] Michelle Obama’s cousin is Michael Shields. Barack Obama referred to the Shields family in an ABC-TV interview the day before Thanksgiving:

“Michelle’s from Chicago, so she’s got cousins everywhere. You walk down the street, you’ll bump into a Robinson. Or a Shields.”

Shields, the former deputy superintendent of strategic deployment, was bucked down to a lieutenant at the Belmont Area headquarters at a far lower pay scale.

Well, that explains a lot. Like how someone who might have cost the city tens of thousands in settlement money continued to be promoted and protected.

Kelly, Michelle Robinson Obama may be related to Jesse Robinson Jackson too. Jesse's biological father was Noah Robinson.

A freeper from Chicago freepmailed me that Michelle babysat for Jackson children through out high school and spent a lot of time with them. She is close to one of the daughter, Jacki, who is eleven years her junior.

Both families are from the Friendfield Plantation area of SC, but I've not been able to actually make definite biological connection.

Obama’s Lies
Coming back to bite him in the ass:

* Indicted Chicago businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko was a more significant fundraiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama’s earlier political campaigns than previously known. Rezko raised as much as $250,000 for the first three offices Obama sought, the senator told the Tribune on Friday.

So all those times he denied, denied, denied that Rezko was anything but a small time political contributor who never ever asked for any favors? Well, it seems that all that was a lie.

But it’s politics damnit. People lie all the time. And he’s promised to never ever lie anymore as long as we elect him president.

Did U.S. Senator Barack Obama clear the field in the Democratic state treasurer's race?" lawyer and political analyst Russ Stewart wrote January 4, 2006. "Until incumbent Republican Judy Baar Topinka announced for governor, the only Democrat willing to run for the post was obscure Knox County State's Attorney Paul Mangieri, of Galesburg.

He was slated by the Democrats, and he is on record as opposing abortion rights. ... When Topinka decided to move up, a flock of ambitious Democrats eyed the job,... But none announced, and all deferred to Alexi Giannoulias, a 29-year-old Chicago investment banker who was an early supporter of Obama in his 2004 Senate race, whose father owns Broadway Bank, and whose family helped bankroll the Obama campaign.

Giannoulias has said that he will campaign as a 'progressive,' and he has promised to put more than $1 million in family funds into the race," Stewart wrote.[5] "The bottom line," Stewart said: "Obama is the potential king maker.

Expect Obama to publicly endorse Giannoulias, cut television ads for him, and go heavy for him on black radio stations. Of course, there's a downside. If Obama endorses Giannoulias and he loses, that would indicate that Obama's clout is not transferable," Stewart wrote.[5] In March 2006, Giannoulias said that "his 'good friend and mentor, Barack Obama,' inspired him to run."[6] In fact, Giannoulias' "endorsers" were "essentially the base of the Obama coalition: white north side progressives and south side blacks."[7] "My prediction: The stars are aligning for Giannoulias, another silver spooner.

Every politician in the Chicago area, Daleyites and anti-Daleyites, eager to collect campaign funds from Greek Americans in the future, will back Giannoulias. Obama's early endorsement will be critical. Giannoulias will blanket the Chicago airwaves with ads proclaiming himself to be a reformer and a nonpolitician, and mail pieces will target liberal and feminist voters, ripping Mangieri's anti-abortion stance. Mangieri won't get more than 40 percent of the vote in the primary," _Giannoulias Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Barack_Obama_and_campaign_contributor_Alexi

The Los Angeles Times, in an article dated April 27, 2008 reveals
that Obama received a $8,000 a month retainer from Robert Blackwell
for his technology firm, Electronic Knowledge Interchange,
for a total of $112,000. The following exerpts are from the LA times
article:

“A few months after receiving his final payment from EKI, Obama sent a request on state Senate letterhead urging Illinois officials to provide a $50,000 tourism promotion grant to another Blackwell company, Killerspin.”

“With support from Obama, other state officials and an Obama aide who went to work part time for Killerspin, the company eventually obtained $320,000 in state grants between 2002 and 2004 to subsidize its tournaments.”

Look Before You Leap: Obama’s Mobbed-Up Allies
by susanhu, Sun Jan 27, 2008 at 04:14:10 PM EST

Update [2008-1-27 18:33:9 by susanhu]: At the end of the diary, on the Tony Rezko connection to Giannoulias.
The Chicago Tribune in its story, “Critics: Obama endorsements counter calls for clean government”: “In the 2006 Democratic primary, for example, Obama endorsed first-time candidate Alexi Giannoulias for state treasurer despite reports about loans Giannoulias’ family-owned Broadway Bank made to crime figures. Records show Giannoulias and his family had given more than $10,000 to Obama’s campaign, which banked at Broadway.” [Giannoulias is now a bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign, aiming for $100,000.]

That’s Barack Obama endorsing “granny grifter” Alexi Giannoulias, who got elected as Illinois’ state treasurer with the hands-on support of Barack Obama. Besides his mob ties, Giannoulias “was involved in an alleged mortgage fraud five years ago against an 83-year-old woman.”

Curious now? Here’s SourceWatch.org — as independent a resource as you’ll find on the Internet — on Barack Obama’s ties to Alexi Giannoulias:

Alexi Giannoulias—a “man who has long been dogged by charges that the bank his family owns helped finance a Chicago crime figure” and “who became Illinois state treasurer” in 2006 after Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “vouched for him”—”pledged to raise $100,000 for the senator’s Oval Office bid,” Charles Hurt reported September 5, 2007, in the New York Post.

“Giannoulias is so tainted by reputed mob links that several top Illinois Dems, including the state’s speaker of the House and party chairman, refused to endorse him even after he won the Democratic nomination with Obama’s help. ...

Next, “Obama the king maker”:

“Did U.S. Senator Barack Obama clear the field in the Democratic state treasurer’s race?” lawyer and political analyst Russ Stewart wrote January 4, 2006.

“Until incumbent Republican Judy Baar Topinka announced for governor, the only Democrat willing to run for the post was obscure Knox County State’s Attorney Paul Mangieri, of Galesburg. Another “Just another pol” day for Senator Obama.
So, Stroger beats Claypool for the Democratic Party nomination for Cook County Board President, with Tom Hynes besting David Alexrod. Ballot theft helped along by wisdom over brains? Yes, we all wonder who had control of those ballots between the time they left the voting precinct and the time they were counted.

Basically, Claypool lost because his good friend Senator Barack Obama decided not to stick his neck out. Obama endorsed Giannoulias big time for Treasurer against the Speaker Madigan slated candidate, downstater Paul Mangieri. Obama’s endorsement carried the day for Alexi, helping him past some tough criminal associations and dumb statements to the media. Alexi’s opponent was white and Barack owed Alexi for all that money his family raised for Barack early on. So, it was no problem for Obama to take on Speaker Madigan.

Senator Obama endorsed Duckworth to help Senator Durbin and Cong. Emanuel carry the day and ultimately win the 6th CD general with Duckworth, or that is the general theory. Duckworth’s opponents are white, so no problem for Sen. Obama to endorse Duckworth.

One of the charges of corruption against Barack Obama on the Petition to Impeach and/or expel him from the senate is below:

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has engaged in unscrupulous business
practices, in particular with Mr. Robert Blackwell.
............

Perhaps the most surprising story about Barack obama and money is one that no one talks about at all. It involves ping-pong. it is the story of how state Senator Obama was paid more than $100,000 for legal work, then helped his client’s company get $320,000 in taxpayer grants.
For some reason, only the Los Angeles Times has examined the story of Robert Blackwell Jr. and the government grants he received after he invested in Barack Obama.

..........

Obama writes in The Audacity of Hope that after his failed congressional run in 2000, he was “more or less broke.” His family would make $240,000 that year, but they had large debts, and he had just loaned his losing campaign $9,500 and maxed out his credit card. To keep his family afloat, he writes, he went back after the election to his law firm, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, which he had neglected throughout 2000 (he received no income from the firm that year). He planned to do some legal work to supplement his modest $58,000 salary as a state senator.

In 2001, while serving as a state senator, Obama would earn $98,158 from his law practice. Of that money, $80,000 came from a single client - Electronic Knowledge Interchange (EKI)-which had put him on a $8,000 monthly retainer
..........
The Times reports that Obama, in his required legal financial disclosures, buried his six-figure financial conflict of interest amid a list of hundreds of other clients represented by his law firm. He did not mention that the majority of his 2001 income came from EKI-nor was he required to do so under Illinois law.

.............

Dan Shomon was a long time employee of Robert Blackwell and Barack Obama as well as main political advisor to Obama
.....
Shoman, while an employee of both Blackwell and Obama secured grants for Blackwell company Killerspin:
$200,000 grant for its 2003 tournament
$100,000 grant for its 2004 tournament

Robert Blackwell had strong ties to Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich who has been mentioned many times during the Tony Rezko corruption trial.

........
“Andy Martin says ‘retainer’ by Robert Blackwell, Jr. was classic Illinois ‘pay to play’ and may have been criminal behavior.”

Madigan was investigated for using taxpayer funds to pay rent on a Democratic Campaign office. (Jennifer Davis, "Lisa Madigan Defends Father", Copley News Service, 8/14/02)

Madigan has also been criticized for funneling $300,000 in state subsidies to a college friend for an "international livestock exposition" at the Illinois State Fair. It was the only private livestock show to receive state subsidies.

The mayor wouldn’t let Rezko, Dan Mahru and Ali Ata build townhomes at Addison and Kimball on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Rather than fight City Hall, Rezko and his partners sold the 10-acre site to Home Depot — represented by developer Michael Marchese, a friend of the mayor’s.

Rezko and his partners paid $7.9 million for the vacant land in September 2001. Eleven months later, they sold it to Home Depot for $12.5 million — a 40 percent profit.

The sale infuriated neighbors who didn’t want a busy store on the corner where an envelope factory had operated for decades.

Now, the deal is under federal investigation, a source familiar with the probe said. “There’s a further case against Tony Rezko. It involves this property,’’ the source said.

Creeps, scum.

From:
http://nalert.blogspot.com/2008/11/rezko-and-friends-make-millions-mayor.html

For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997, tenants shivered without heat in a government-subsidized apartment building on Chicago’s South Side.

It was just four years after the landlords — Antoin “Tony’’ Rezko and his partner Daniel Mahru — had rehabbed the 31-unit building in Englewood with a loan from Chicago taxpayers.

Rezko and Mahru couldn’t find money to get the heat back on.

But their company, Rezmar Corp., did come up with $1,000 to give to the political campaign fund of Barack Obama, the newly elected state senator whose district included the unheated building.

Pamela Meyer Davis had been trying to win approval from a state health planning board for an expansion of Edward Hospital, the facility she runs in a Chicago suburb, but she realized that the only way to prevail was to retain a politically connected construction company and a specific investment house. Instead of succumbing to those demands, she went to the FBI and U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald in late 2003 and agreed to secretly record conversations about the project.

Her tapes led investigators down a twisted path of corruption that over five years has ensnared a collection of behind-the-scenes figures in Illinois government, including Joseph Cari Jr., a former Democratic National Committee member, and disgraced businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko

Many of the developments in Operation Board Games never attracted national headlines. They involved expert tactics in which prosecutors used threats of prosecution or prison time to flip bit players in a tangle of elaborate schemes that Fitzgerald has called pay-to-play “on steroids.”

Meyer Davis’s hospital wasn’t the only one with problems winning approvals from the state board that reviewed new projects for health-care facilities. The Chicago Medical School wanted a student housing project and found itself steered to the same construction and investment firms. Mercy Hospital faced similar obstacles. The board held up requests for open-heart surgical units and community clinics, and it seemed that a high price tag was attached to moving the board toward action.

At the center of the scheme was board member Stuart Levine, a prominent GOP fundraiser and businessman. Levine also courted Blagojevich, flying him to fundraisers in Texas and New York at which the governor collected more than $120,000 in campaign contributions. Levine held seats on the health facilities board and the teachers pension board, which controlled more than $41 billion in assets.

The Illinois chapter of the country’s major government-employees union broke with its national organization Saturday to endorse Barack Obama for president.

Nationally, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is backing Hillary Rodham Clinton. But the union’s Illinois leaders decided to make their own endorsement

In endorsing Clinton, national AFSCME leaders focused on her experience in Washington and her toughness as a candidate

SEIU appears to be close with 0 and Blago (see image on SEIU home page. Stern/SEIU have reported fights with AFSCME over Chicago/Illinois contracts.

Labor War in Chicago, 3/05, The American Prospect
http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=labor_war_in_illinois

from National Right to Work:

"In Blagojevich's first race for governor in 2002, the SEIU provided a thousand volunteers in the weeks before the primary election, enough to push the Congressman over his nearest rival by just one percent. As governor, Blagojevich repaid the SEIU by issuing executive orders that effectively ensured that the SEIU (and not AFSCME) would "represent" the 5,000 home-care workers and 48,000 child-care workers in the state."

Valerie Jarrett was born in 1956 in Shiraz, Iran, about 570 miles south of Tehran. ...

Most thread emphasise whe was raised in CHicago.

Lawyer, “the other side of Obama’s brain”, business woman

Valerie Jarrett: Chosen for: White House Senior Advisor and Assistant

From:
http://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2008/nov/obama-advisor-valerie-jarrett-linked-real-estate-scandals

According to the documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Illinois Secretary of State, Valerie Jarrett served as a board member for several organizations that provided funding and support for Chicago housing projects operated by real estate developers and Obama financial backers Rezko and Allison Davis. (Davis is also Obama’s former boss.) Jarrett was a member of the Board of Directors for the Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corporation along with several Davis and Rezko associates, as well as the Fund for Community Redevelopment and Revitalization, an organization that worked with Rezko and Davis

.....

As Chief Executive Officer of the Habitat Company Jarrett also managed a controversial housing project located in Obama’s former state senate district called Grove Parc Plaza. According to the Boston Globe the housing complex was considered “uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage...In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale — a score so bad the buildings now face demolition.” Ms. Jarrett refused to comment to the Globe on the conditions of the complex.

This makes PERFECT sense and in fact explains a lot. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/12/21/BAG314QRPO.DTL http://strata-sphere.com/blog/index.php/archives/7428 Ex-mayor Willie Brown has shed some critical light onto the Obama-Blagojevich affair. It seems now that this was all a push initiated by team Obama to stop Blagojevich from selecting a successor to Obama. It seems Blagojevich has a candidate in mind that Obama wanted to stop. In light of what Willie Brown has uncovered in his recent talks with Gov Blag, it seems Team Obama was the one putting the pressure on Team Blagojevich and not the other way around

"I got a call from Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich the other day. The first thing I said to him was, "You know, this call is probably being taped." Blagojevich said he had read my column in The Chronicle last week, in which I raised questions about the "pay to play" charges being leveled against him in connection with his pending appointment of someone to fill Barack Obama's now-empty U.S. Senate seat. I think he liked how I raised questions about the timing and manner of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's decision to charge him over what appears to be little more than loose conversations he had with his staff. He laughed, we talked, and all in all he seemed in pretty good spirits for a guy looking at federal charges. I wouldn't bet on him stepping aside anytime soon. If anything, his hand is getting stronger by the day. I can't go into details, but my impression is that the whole mess started because the governor had been considering appointing a political rival, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, to the Senate so she wouldn't be able to run against him when he went up for re-election in 2010. Apparently, Obama's people weren't happy about the idea of Madigan coming to Washington, and there were some pretty heated conversations between Blagojevich and Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, which I understand will burn your ears off.

Reinforces my opinion that this has been a charade and/or the next act is now being choreographed.

Instead of protecting BO with the early arrest,I think it more likely Fitz was protecting his mole from an illegal involvement. Rahm-E or jjj or someone not identified on tape? Maybe not even the ones released.

Reporting from Chicago — A key figure in Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich’s alleged scheme to sell a U.S. Senate seat has sought immunity from federal authorities in return for his cooperation.

Businessman and political fundraiser Raghuveer P. Nayak is Individual D in the federal complaint, sources said. Individual D was being squeezed by the governor for campaign cash, according to prosecutors, in order to appoint Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) to the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

......

A 54-year-old millionaire who made his fortune in medical businesses, he was little-known outside Chicago’s close-knit Indian community

.......
Federal and state election reports show that Nayak, his wife and his businesses for the last decade have donated more than $779,000 and raised hundreds of thousands more for candidates ranging from the Cook County circuit court clerk to Obama.

He has contributed primarily to Democrats but also to Republicans.

DOes seem that Blago and OB are too good of friends...WOuld one set the othr up?

From:
http://www.blacklegalissues.com/Article_Details.ASPX?ARTCLID=afcec76f2a&cat=Politics

About all Blagojevich and Obama shared was searing ambition, which is what occasionally brought them together. Obama recognized that a Democratic governor could help him pass legislation and build his résumé in anticipation of a U.S. Senate run, so he helped Blagojevich’s campaign as an informal adviser. Once Blagojevich was elected, he and Obama formed an awkward, arranged marriage: Obama passed a steady succession of legislation and built his reputation as a power player in Springfield; Blagojevich signed the bills and took the center seat at celebratory news conferences.

It worked just fine, Springfield politicians said, until Obama started to eclipse Blagojevich as the rising star in Illinois politics. Blagojevich never endorsed Obama in his U.S. Senate bid in 2004, and he expressed a preference for two other Democratic candidates. On the campaign trail, Obama sometimes made a point to highlight his distance from Blagojevich and the rest of the administration. “Nobody sent me,” he often told his crowds.

Here’s some interesting information that goes along with
Rod Blagojevich’s serbian, Orthodox roots.

From:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/22/greater-albania-is-no-model/

If “success” means the destruction of 300 Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries; if “success” means ethnic cleansing of over 250,000 Serbs from their ancestral homes, all under the noses of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR); if it means the final eradication of Serbia’s culture, language and religion in Kosovo; if it means handing Kosovo’s government over to war criminals

Comment on you tube Make one wonder why poster has that opinion:
“Rod Blagojevich is much bigger threat to USA, than any Muslim will ever be.”

Consider source:
From:

http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:bn4BoU_MhKQJ:serbblog.blogspot.com/+Rod+Blagojevich+%2B+Albania+mafia&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us

Yet, the media just can’t seem to get enough of rubbing everyone’s nose in Rod Blagojevich’s “ethnic roots” — even going so far as to publish quotes from the Blagojevic family in Europe for their reaction to the cousin that they’ve never met, and quoting headlines from German and Soros owned newspapers from Eastern Europe.

Others went to his local boyhood church for reactions from parishioners. Rod Blagojevich is 52 years old and hasn’t gone there in 30 years. What’s this got to do with anything?

Rod Blagojevich told us how irrelevant his ethnic roots were a few years ago on Jay Leno, when he refused to say anything other than that they were “Eastern European”. So why does the media think that they are going to find something relevant to the corruption story in Blagojevich’s ancestry?

Rod Blagojevich’s “ethnicity” is American and his religion is “corrupt politician”. That should have been plain for all to see when back in 1999, he supported the twisted and corrupt NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia, using the same hateful anti-Serb rhetoric as the rest of his twisted fellow corrupt politicians.
