We've heard such things before ~ most often it's just a matter of hearing something you want to hear, or think you might hear, or to get a refund ~ variety of motives are possible, but it's the listener not the doll.
We had an old 45RPM record that would jump a track and say "That's What's Happening Chicken" ~ otherwise it was a song about "My Little Red Wagon". We played that thing until the groves wore down and then it started saying "hssss, hssss, hssss, hssss, hummmmm, hssss".

I heard it and re-heard it..there is no doubt in my mind the doll says “islam is the light”. One would absolutely NOT want to hear it in order to not hear it. It is disgusting.
Ok genius. We’re all paranoid. Except I heard this on our local news weeks ago. They replayed it more than ten times. It clearly, and I MEAN CLEARLY says exactly what they say it does. And, I am NOT paranoid. Nor were the people they played it for on the street. So you can be insane. The rest of us will believe exactly what we hear.

Now, to answer your question, I didn't even have to think all that hard to identify four opportunities for the signal to be "changed".
I do hope you don't believe that the fidelity from a sound diode in a toy is going to be as good as that of the original recording.
Nobody said it was a recording. It was a programmed audio file which had been compressed, then is decompressed upon execution of the audio routines. It’s rather obvious this was not happenstance. There might be plausible deniability with the manufacturer, or at least that is the approach they appear to be taking. The audio I’ve heard over news broadcasts of a doll being reported as having the same function, without cognizance of the larger reporting on the Internet, had obviously been programmed to render that message. The only real issue appears to be why the manufacturer refuses to recall the model for QC purposes and maintain goodwill with their patronage.
