SOS Condoleezza called the President-elect on Saturday about the violence in Gaza and here is what he had to say "The president-elect appreciated the call and the information from Secretary Rice," one aide said, adding that Obama initiated the eight-minute phone call. "He will continue to closely monitor these and other global events."
THAT'S IT!!!??? No "Israel has a right to defend itself against the missiles but I really think there should be a cease fire". No "Hamas brought this upon itself". Not even a comment bashing terrorism or the fact that Hamas uses the civilians in Gaza as human shields.

The first thing in the White House statement was a demand for Hamas to stop shelling Isreali territory.
That reasonable tone from our government will not happen a month from now.

i really believe that a large part of Israel’s decision to strike back now has to do with the upcoming presidential change. Getting in before the thread is pulled so to speak.
He should say what every president elect should in this situation: We have a President to handle this as much as any one can. Check back in a couple of weeks.

True, but then again, ABC News tonight then showed him supporting Israel at every chance during the campaign, including footage of him at the prayer wall. The one shot of him with the oppostion was Obama going for a hug while the other guy was pulling away from him.
By pictures, Obama has gone further toward the Israeli cause than Bush ever did as President. The funny thing is that Obama did it all as a photo op and didn’t mean it at all.

These aren’t sympathetic images IMO. They are calling Obama out to make a statement. Otherwise, the pictures show he is in Isreal’s camp, which is ideal, but we all know it isn’t true.
Also, Obama decided to campaign overseas and in the Middle East.

That would make sense if it didn’t state that he initiated the eight-minute call. Maybe I’m just being facetious, but I found it humorous that in one sentence it says that she called him and in the next that he initiated the call.
