There was a big development in science this year, yet most people missed it. It wasn't induced pluripotent stem cells or global warming or Barack Obama securing 99% of the scientist vote despite his belief that vaccines cause autism, which caused even heterosexual scientists to disregard Jenny McCarthy. No, it was an alarming decrease in available clichés to describe what scientists think about new discoveries.

I'm shocked, stunned and baffled.
I’m getting more and more concerned over “global stasis”. Besides, “stasis” sounds so much more disease-like than “warming” (= nurturing) or “change” (= always good, especially if Obama is involved) so I think this this new phobia just might have legs.
Frankly, I just think the new threat is if everything just stays the same, nihilist that I am.
An amazing percentage. If the other 1% voted for the Green Party, I’m giving up on the idea of scientists actually knowing how to use the knowledge they presumably acquire.
