Don't you just love it when other nations have such grand successes in the realm of science, technology, and engineering? Isn't it great when, all on their own without any help from anyone, a backwards country such as China can produce a battlefield transport vehicle that is far better than our poor American version? And, they did it without any espionage, too.
And if you believe that...
The Chinese "news" agency China View is reporting this grand success...

GM gives away our Humvee plans to our enemy! Nice going.

There was no “give-away”. A captured or legitimately purchased “Hummer” or “HUMVEE”, which was then reverse-engineered, is a simple enough source to reproduce a product built elsewhere.
The Chinese are becoming more clever about these sorts of things all the time.

Can you get one with all that electronic spy gear they reverse engineered from our reconnaissance plane they forced down a few years ago?

US military vehicles must do many things. They can be dropped out of airplanes without parachutes, ford 60 inch water, be hit with 50 cal bullets, start at -40 degrees, run at 140 degrees F, climb 45 degree hills, traverse 30 degree slopes, dodge obstacles at high speeds, stop in FMVSS distances, etc. When testing doesn’t includes all of these tests, it is easy to produce vehicles that meet other tests.

If I let my kids play with it for 30 minutes it will break and you won’t be able to get parts to repair it. Just like all of the other Chinese junk out there.
