Actually, I’m surprised. This is the first time I have seen the dress, but I’ve read a lot of unflattering comments about it. I think she looks quite nice.

That dress looks a little frumpy to me.

The gold outfit she wore earlier looked quite good. (The best I've seen her look so far, anyway.)

My reply is probably colored (ooops, should I be saying that word?) by the fact that I detest Mr. and Mrs. Messiah, but that is one ugly dress. She looks like a quilted marshmallow.

I thought her inauguration dress made her look like living room furniture, too. That, or the drapes in a cheap hotel window.

I agree. I think she looks nice. I didn’t mind the election night dress, either. There are more important things to worry about with Barack Obama than what his wife looks like or is wearing. What is this? People Magazine or Mean Girls?

Too much bunching around the midriff - not flattering. And what's with all the itty-bitty pom-poms? They make the dress look like something appropriate for a jr high formal. Simple, sleek and elegant speaks for itself. Choose the right color (yellow is not). Go for line and design over fru-fru. She should be a fashion minimalist. That's me, the fashion guru (not).

Hint for a newbie: If you don’t like reading the potential replies to a thread of this type, don’t bother looking.

After the way President Bush and Mrs. Bush were treated at the inaugural today, I’m gonna be as nasty as I wanna be about our new “first couple.”

Those 52-ers with their kumbaya and their “can’t we all work together” can go take a long walk off a short pier.

For everyone complaining about her dress, do you have a serious example of what you think she should be wearing? Is there anything she could wear that would draw a compliment with her critics here?

On the Schnitt radio show, Todd Schnitt said that Michelle looked awful in her dress and that she looked like she could suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Next thing you know, he was being bombarded by angry liberal callers. Hilarious!

I’ve worked with critical color match lithographic printing for all my professional life, mostly with apparel and furniture catalogs. To my eye, her gloves were olive tinged, the shoes were blue tinged, and the pale yellow clothing leaned slightly greenish in certain lights. They’re all shades of green, true, but I don’t think it’s anything you’d want to do intentionally. But, what do I know, I’m just a guy, lol.

I've been on here longer than you have an I agree with the newbie.

After the way President Bush and Mrs. Bush were treated at the inaugural today, I’m gonna be as nasty as I wanna be about our new “first couple.”

The left behave like idiots and it made them look stupid and classless. Does that mean conservatives should behave stupidly and without any class toward the Obamas? Doesn't that make us just like them? Is our answer to Bush Derangement Syndrome to show Obama Derangement Syndrome?

Those 52-ers with their kumbaya and their “can’t we all work together” can go take a long walk off a short pier.

My take on this matter is more one of, "Let's not look like horrible petty jackasses unless we want to be a perpetual minority." I guess that along with the "Little Boy Who Cried Wolf", parents no longer tell their children, "If they jumped off of a bridge, would you jump off the bridge with them?" Do we really need to play "Follow the lefties" in a game of "How low can we go?"

Yes, she should wear jewel colors and rich fabrics - silk, something like that, and stand proud. New hairdo would help also.
